Ein kleines bißchen Lace…

A Little Bit of Lace…

Lace Schal.. geht immer.

… is never wrong.

So while the scarf was waiting to be blocked I had already started the next lace project. The pattern will only be visible after blocking, but I am into repeat 19 of 40, so I am nearly halfway through.

This time it’s the “Myrtle Leaf Shawl with Willow Border” from Victorian Lace Today. In black, like it’s in the book. Yes, sometimes I can follow instructions. Yarn is Isager Alpaca 1 from Maschenkunst, I’ve already used it once and had liked it.

But it will take quite awhile before this will be finished, because there are a lot of other projects waiting to be made, especially before christmas.

Curved Shawl in Malabrigo

gespanntes TuchI managed to get something blocked…

I started knitting end of march. Again oder still from Victorian Lace Today von Jane Sowerby, “Curved Shawl with Diamond Edging” is the pattern Normally I prefere rectangular shewls, but I couldnh’t resist the spider pattern. I choose “Lace” of Malabrigo as yarn at the Maschenkunst in Cologne. Supersoft merino in hot colour “intenso 242”. (Somehow I don’t have anything that fits tohse red and pinks, so I’ll need an update for my wardrobe. But I had to take that colour. ) Needles were 3,25mm wooden circs from KnitPro.

End of May I finished knitting. The yarn knits nicely, the pattern made me sweat. K3tog direktely from the cast on row is a bit tricky. So I had to start the first row more than once. (Including using fresh yarn, because the Malabrico is so soft, that it does not like to be frogged three times…) Making mistakes is not fun in that pattern and I did a good deal of back knitting. Usually nearly two rows, because I always recognized the mistake at the beginning of a row when I hat nearly finished the following one. Luckily you start with few stitches and when I came to the end I managed to do it correctly.

Spider PatternWhat I like a lot is the eays pcit edge. (Less funny is blocking 103 tiny picots…) The Diamond edge on the contrary does’t have enough space to spread, so you do not see to much of the pattern. especially on the bottom. Less repeats would have been better there. That might be due to my problem to match the ratio of stitches and rows (which is always very different from the book). I was to lazy to recalculate the shawl so I just made it as the pattern instructed me and at least the total dimensions did block out fine.

Ist das “Spider” Muster nicht schön?

Isn’t the “spider” pattern beautiful?
