Im letzten Moment…

.. wie immer halt. :o)

My “far away” gifts are on their way. My brother and his car are acting as Santa Claus and Rudolph and will deliver the gifts to my mother and my other brother.

My mothers gift was bought in India, so I wanted to make the wrapping myself. (Really, I do love crafting, sewing, knitting,… for christmas. Even if it was getting hectic, because my brother had to leave at a certain time… as long as it’s still the “fun” kind of “hectic”. When it’s getting the panicing kind of busy… it’s time to stop. This was late night, but still fun.)

So I picked a piece of a fabric I had bought this summer at Toto in Paris and which I like very much, because it has no real christmas print, but still great colours for winter/christmas theme. I packed some batting under it, picked a bit of silk crepe satin (was the best colour match I could find… beeing a perfectionist sometimes is a bit costly… :o) ) and quilted lines every about 3cm or so. As I found matching embroidery thread I used that. To add a bit more of the embroidery thread I stitched a line of feather stitch in every second of the quilted rows. Then a bit of bias band I also still found in my “collection” and that’s it. Very quickly done and I think it’s a nice wrapping for a gift.

Only I didn’t have time to make any closure.. so the ribbon will have to do. A larger bowtie would have been nicer… but that was the end of that ribbon. (Still good, my box of ribbons and laces is more than full anyhow…)

But the gift wrapping wasn’t all I had to do. My youngest brother gets something homemade by me which was far from finished two days before “sending deadline”… but.. I did it! (Pics later, my brother has internet and knwos how to use it…)

So his gift bag had to be done even quicker… just are rectangel of fabric sewn together at two sides, the hem done with embroidery thread in satin stitch and a ribbon tied closely. That’ll have to do.

(As I said.. I ran out of red ribbon… but the green looks nice, too. In reality better than on the photo, the colours are a bit different in reality.)

Tomorrow I can hopefully do the last cookies. This year it’s only four different ones, but those four I really love and try to have them all.
