Even though it might be looking like that in the blog: I haven’t given up the Challenge. There’s even some progress. I’m just not sure whether it’s enough to finish in time…

The skirt is finished. It was a bit of a challenge (but that’s the name of the game…) to attach the hem invisibly, namely in the black silicon popelin, but it was possible. I quite like the skirt and I think, I will be wearing it a lot in the future.

I had planned to show the hemming, because I used an extra cut wide bias strip as hem (large hem allowances in curved hems are complicated and this technique also is very usefull to deal with a shortage of fabric), but the day I finally started doing it, the batteries of my camera gave up and the recharche set somehow lost one in the last two weeks… :-/ So the picture of the finished gament will have to do.

Oberteil Also the shirt is nearly finished, it only needs to be hemmed.

Where the problem shows, so I haven’t done it yet….

To adjust the top with the black skirt (and the to be mostly black jacket) I inserted a kind of “piping” in the yokeseam. (There is no filler cord in it, it’s just a bias stripe of the black fabric that shows, so I’m not sure, whether piping is the correct term. But I don’t know a better one…?) AlsoI used bias stripes of the black fabric for sleeve hem and the neckline, letting them show some milimetres.

The result I.. qite like, but definitely less than the skirt. It looks nice with a pair of jeans, but with the skirt…

Well, as I said, it isn’t hemmed yet. The length it has now really looks cute with trowsers, but with that skirt it looks just awfull. Somethin mach shorter is needed. Only… when I’m shortening the top, the proportions of the top itsself become all wrong. the yoke is to big then, it makes me look shorter an fatter. (I have enough of that, no need of adding…) Plus that afterwards I plan to wear the top with my jeans, so I’d like to have it long for that.

I’ll be needing a real good idea…

So there remains the jacket. The pattern is altered to hopefully fit (no time for a second musslin) and I’m tossing the pattern over the floor (I have no cutting table) for days now, to decide, which parts I want to make from the plaid. the rest will be black, luckily I purchased quite a lot of that fabric.
