Finally I did it. I cut the fabric. And because it is so long ago that I washed and ironed my fabric it has wrinkles again. And copying the pattern was so long back, that I couldn’t remember what I had. (Okay, pajamas, but even there are different patterns.)

The stripes on the fabric are, of course, not symmetrical. So no chance to match them at the shoulder seam. (At least not without a seam in the back middle which I am not willing to do on my sleepwear. Also I’m not sure whether I would have had enough fabric for that.)

The fronts and also the facing I had to cut single layerd… but at least I remembered this time, that the facings should be mirrored in the pattern, because they will be visible on the revers.

For the collar I couldn’t decide… stripes in bias or straight, matching the stripes of the back? Well, I’ve cut both versions, so decision is postponed. (Except… to get a nice chevron on the back of the collar it would have to be cut not on the fold. Well… There should be enough fabric left to do so, if I decide for that.) The breast pocket is on bias for the optical effect.

And then I learned (again) why my pajamas usually have cropped pants… 5 metres of fabric is not enough in my size. Good thing is, the pants consist of only two pieces, not for. I had forgotten that. (Did I tell that copying the pattern was quite some time ago? :o) There is still fabric left. Maybe I’ll add a bias cut “cuff” or something to the legs. We’ll see.

Did I mention that I hate cutting? Having to sit and step on the fabric on the floor while I’, cutting doesn’t make it more pleasurable. But… two hours spend on cutting I am ready to sew.

Only there’s a decision to take before: Adding some ultralight interfacing to the facings and the collar or not…?
