Knöpfe zu…

Schlafanzug fertig.

I made it! My sleepwear got finished in January. Yesterday evening I did sew on the buttons and today I took a picture of the ensemble.

But sewing on buttons means to decide before… I had intended to use material from my stash for this project. Plus Wednesday night places who sell buttons are closed. And today is not the day where I’d like to go to places that sell buttons. If they were open today…. (For those qho do not know carneval in the rhine-region: Today is the “cut tie” day. That is not the official name, the official name is “Weiberfastnacht”, meaning womens carneval. So if you are a man and happen to be in this region the last Thursday of the carneval season, don’t put on your good silk tie. Buy a one Euro ugly polyester thing. Or take a rotten one, that is about to fall apart. Because the city will be full of women with scissors who are waiting to cut your tie. They will not ask for your permission, neither will they accept a “no” or react on bidding. You’re out of the house that day and wearing a tie? Well, that means your permission is granted… :o) )

Also ging ich mal in meiner Knopfkiste gucken. Was mindestens fünfzehn Jahre her ist.

So I’ve been digging deep in my button box. Candidate number one: transparent buttons. They were on the last pyjama my grandma had been sewing for me. (Like 15 years ago) And who just fell apart and had to be thrown away last year. But the buttons were still okay, so I kept them. Well… transparent ist never wrong, but quite boring.

Next one: simple white. Not too bad, but what you can not see on the picture: They are awfully thin and look as cheap as they probabely have been. Or even cheaper. No, not on that nice fabric.

Third try: pink with roses. Nice, I like it. They match the candy coloured stripes well. Hm… might be a bit bigger still…

BlümchenknöpfeUnd der Gewinner ist…

genau, ganz andere. *g*

And the winner is…

yes, something completely different….

Since I wasn’t completely happy with all of the other solutions I restarted my search in the button box. And found those transparent-pink flowers, bigger than the other buttons. I picked them at Silvias shop when they were on sale, also at least one year ago.

I was exactely in the mood for them. To give a little crazy touch to an otherwise plain and boring pyjama.

Only inconvenice: they are quite thick. So put them under my tummy lying on my bed. No, my bed and my body are soft enough. Also the buttons have no edges.

On this picture the lapels hadn’t been ironed yet, also are were some thread ends, that had not been cut. The photo of the finished pyjama is in the gallery of the “Hobbyschneiderin” Site and will come here with my review of the pattern.
