Self Solving Problems…

… sind mir ja die liebsten. Mein Kuschelkleid hatte ja die schlechte Angewohnheit, beim Tragen deutlich länger zu werden. Und ich habe rumüberlegt, wie ich es stabilisieren kann, aber erst mal kein passendes Material dafür gefunden.

… are my favorite ones. My cosy dress had the problem that it would stretch a lot and get longer while wearing. And I had thought a lot about finding a solution to stabilize it. But did not find the material I wanted for that at once.

Dazwischen habe ich es getragen und gewaschen, getragen und gewaschen,… beim Waschen zog es sich auch wieder auf die ursprüngliche Länge… getragen… und vergessen, daß die Wäschen davor im Wollwaschgang ohne Schleudern waren. So landete das Kleid im Feinwaschgang mit Schonschleudern.

Meanwhile I did wear the dress, wash it, wear it, wash it…. washing always restored the original shape… did wear and… and forgot that the washings before had been in the special wool cycle without spinning. And it got washed in the delicate laundry cycle with a bit of careful spinning.

Jetzt ist das Kleid etwas weniger weit, eine halbe handbreit kürzer… leicht angefilzt und formstabil. Und ich bekomme Komplimente dafür, sogar von Leuten, die mich damit in der ungefilzten Version auch schon gesehen hatten. (Und nichts dazu gesagt hatten.) Perfekt. 🙂

Now the dress is a little less wide, a bit shorter… slightly felted and keeps it’s shape perfectly. And I’ve been receiving compliments for it, even from people who had seen me in the unfelted version before. (And had not commented on it.) Perfect. 🙂
