Textile Mitbringsel aus Indien, Teil 2

Textile Stuff from India, part 2

You can not only get block print on a bead spread, they have it also on cloth by the yard. How could I resist roses on a fine cotton fabric?

And still the same: Klick on the pic for a bigger view. The black contours are often not just printed on top of the colors, but each color requires another block and the contours then are left white on the other colors. So it requires a great precision of work.

Sari in Block printAn diesem Seidensari hat mich das ebenfalls handgedruckte all over Muster angezogen.

What attracted my eye to this silk saree was the all over printed patter. How equally wonderful the pallu is I only realised after purchasing it. So on the left in the pic you get a zoom on the pattern.

I think both of the fabrics will make a nice tunic for me, using the fabric on cross grain to make use of the borders.

Both, the fabric and the saree come from a Khadi-Shop.

And then I stumbled over these cute wooden printing blocks. I have no idea if I ever find the time to try this out, but some things you have to buy when you see them, because they are not available everywhere at any time.

The motto for the beads is similar.

They were there, they were cute and they don’t take up a lot of space in the luggage. 🙂

So far for today… I’ll have to check the pics of the rest.
