Each and every stitch by hand

Das war nicht so geplant, hat sich dann aber so ergeben…

I hadn’t planned it like that, but that’s what happened…

Angefangen hat es mit dem Buch Modernes Sashiko von Silke Bosbach, das ich auf der h&h 2013 als Rezensionsexemplar direkt mitnehmen durfte. Zwar wollte ich nicht direkt ein Modell daraus nach arbeiten, aber die verschiedenen Motive gefielen mir sehr gut, so daß klar war, daß ich davon in irgendeiner Form etwas umsetzen muß.

It started with the book Modernes Sashiko by Silke Bosbach which I had received on the h&h 2013 for a review. I had not the intention to make one of the projects, but I loved a lot of the stitchpatterns a lot, so it was clear, I had to use it some way or the other.

Daß ich zwei Firmgeschenke brauchte war ein passender Anlass, so stichelte ich die Grundlage für zwei Pinselrollen.

I needed two gifts for a confirmation, so that was a good moment and I stitched two pieces of fabric for brush rolls.

Der Plan war gewesen, die Säume und die Fächer auf der Innenseite mit der Maschine zu nähen.

The plan was to handstitch the pattern, but doing the hems and the seams for the compartments on the interior by hand.

Dann hatte ich aber schon so viel von Hand genäht, daß ich mir dachte, auf den Rest käme es jetzt auch nicht mehr an… und ich habe alles von Hand gesäumt und auch die Fächer von Hand genäht, nur auf die innere Stoffschicht, so daß sie von außen tatsächlich unsichtbar sind.

Then I had done so many hand stitches, that I thought… What the heck… and continued by hand. Making the hem all around and also stitching the compartments by hand to the inner layer of fabric, so on the outside only the decorative stitches show.

Ich werde das nicht so schnell wieder machen, einfach aus Zeitgründen. Aber das Ergebnis entschädigt und es hat sogar richtig Spaß gemacht.:)

I won’t repeat that any time soon, because I do not have that much time. But the result is really worth it. And handstitching was even fun. 🙂
