Woll-Shopping in Bayreuth: Strickart & Cafe

(In those days without internet I’ve had the time to work through my “what I’ve always wanted to tell you” pile. This wonderful yarn store I’ve already found in march…)

Strickart Cafe in BayreuthLike often also this place was a lucking finding. I was searching for one ball of a specific yarn, so when I was visiting my mother I was checking out the yarn stores there. I went into Wolle Rödel because they had a cotton sock wool in neutral shades (like I am searching for years), asked for my other yarn which they did not have but the friendly owner told me next to the church was another yarn shop. It’s long ago that I’ve move away from that region, but the church was easy to find so I went there.

And found a really lovely place, Strickart Cafe.

And it did not only look promising from the outside, but kept the promise once I was in.

There were not only shelves full with all kind of yarns in different colors, the first room is dominated by a big, dark wooden table and there was a coffee machine behind that also looked very promising. (Since I just came from a very late lunch and was short before an invitation for dinner I didn’t ask for coffee, so I can’t say anything about its quality or the price. But the smell was good. 🙂 )

dibadu WolleThe shop carries wool from different brands, also those who are not so standard in Germany. I remember a lot of Lang yarns, Noro… and many others. (And I checked the website after th h&h trade fair and it said they would get Artyarns also.)

Now I do have quite some stash and also I have very good LYS, but Strickart is one of those shops that gives you the feeling that you want to buy something. (Which does bot easily happen to me.) Of course something I could not get in Cologne. Lace would be nice, because it does not take up to much room. And yes, she had something I didn’t know….. of couse I had to pick the most expensive yarn of the shop… and definitely the most expensive skein of my whole life. But the color was so perfect for me, cashmere and silk felt so smooth… first I left the shop without, but short before closing time I went back… it had to be mine.
