Lust for ribbons became….?

Ich schulde euch ja noch die Auflösung. Naja, nicht allzuschwer, es wurde mal wieder eine Tasche. Ich habe mir ja vor vielen Jahren eine Tasche genäht, die sich im Alltag und besonders auf Reisen gut bewährt hat. Allerdings zeigt diese allmählich Verschleißerscheinungen. (Bei Gurtband und Baumwollcord verliert der Cord…) Und ein paar kleine Verbesserungsideen hatte ich dann auch noch.

I haven’t told you where the ribbon belongs to. Well, maybe not so difficult, it is a bag, again. Long years ago I’ve made myself a bag which I’ve used a lot, also for travel. So it starts to show signs of use. (If you work sturdy shoulder straps together with soft cotton corduroy the corduroy will loose…). And over the years of use I got some ideas for small improvements.

Das Format habe ich von der alten Tasche übernommen, nur einen Zentimeter tiefer habe ich sie gemacht. Wichtig war mir, daß nur der Boden und die Seitenteile versteift sind, denn dadurch hat sie genug Tragkraft, wenn man sie voll stopft, sie fällt aber ausreichend in sich zusammen, daß sie im Flugzeug noch als zusätzliche Handtasche durchgeht und auch in Museen nicht abgegeben werden muß. Dann darf man sie natürlich nicht voll machen, klar?

I made nearly the same size than the old bag, only one centimeter larger. It was important to stiffen only the sides and the bottom. That makes it sturdy enough to carry also heavy stuff, but she collapses enough when empty that it will pass as additional handbag at the airport check in and also museums normally let me keep it.

Die anderen Teile sind nur mit Volumenvlies verstärkt. Als zusätzliches Sicherheitsfeature gab es Reflexband auf die Streifen für die Schnallen. Und die Stoffe sind immer noch Reste von meinem Patchworkrock. Oh ja, einige der Stoffstücke waren groß. Und natürlich das nette schwarze Band mit den Rosen.

The other pieces got some batting for more strength and shape. There is a bit of reflecting band on the closure straps for added security. The fabric is, as you can see, still more restover of my skirt from long ago. And a lot of black ribbon with roses.

Für das Innenleben habe ich zunächst beibehalten, was sich bewährt hatte. Da wäre die große Tasche in der Klappe. Die ist recht Taschendieb sicher, denn zum einen vermutet da keiner eine Tasche, zum anderen kommt man bei geschlossener Klappe nicht an den Reißverschluß, schon gar nicht unbemerkt. Beim Futter habe ich auch genommen, was noch so da war. Auch der Reißverschluss der weiteren Innentasche (nicht sichtbar, aber an der üblichen Stelle) ist einer, den ich irgendwann mal aus einer Hose rausgetrennt hatte.

On the inside I kept the features I’d liked. First of all the big pocket in the flap. I consider it quite pickpocket save, because first of all no one thinks that there is a pocket and when the flap is closed no one can open the zip. And not without me noticing. The lining was some fabric I still had, also the zip of the second inside pocket (not shown) is something I’d unpicked from a pair of trousers long ago.

Dazugekommen ist die große Vortasche, in die man zum Beispiel gut die Fahrkarten und ausgedruckte Flugunterlagen stecken kann. Da sind sie gleichzeitig sicher, aber auch gut zugänglich. Und der Reißverschluß der die Tasche selber verschließt ist neu. Das hatte mich immer gestört, daß beim Vorgängermodell es je nach Befüllung gerne mal aufklaffte und das an einer Stelle, die ich nicht immer gut im Blick habe. Problem gelöst. 🙂 Warum Reißverschluß UND Schnallen? Ganz einfach, wenn man die Tasche sehr vollstopft, dann geht der Reißverschluß nicht mehr zu, dann kann man sie immer noch mit den Schnallen verschließen. 🙂

What I added is the big pocket on the front. It’s not very deep, but large enough to store flight plans, tickets and other printouts save but quick at hand. Also the zip that closes the main bag is a new feature. That was the only thing that really had bugged me on the old bag: Depending on what an how much I had in my bag it would gap and that at a position I could not always have my eyes on. So problem solved. Whey I used a zip AND clasps? Easy… if you stuff the bag a lot the zip won’t close any longer. But the straps will still close. 🙂

Bewährt ist dann noch das hier: Ein Stück Fleece auf der Taschenrückseite. Dann kann man sie nämlich auch als bequemes Kissen verwenden. 🙂

Not new is a piece of soft fleece on the back of the bag: That makes a cozy pillow for a sleep in a park. 🙂

Wie ihr euch denken könnt, hat die Tasche ihre erste Reise auch schon erfolgreich hinter sich.

As you can guess the bag has had it’s first trip already and it worked as expected.
