Mein Nähmaschinentisch ist ja arg klein und so fällt schon mal das eine oder andere runter, das von dem aus der Maschine kommenden Stoff verdrängt wird.

Neulich traf es, und nicht zum ersten Mal, den kleinen Anschiebtisch meiner Nähmaschine, der gleichzeit als Aufbewahrung für Nähfüße und anderes Zubehör dient. Doch diesmal war das Geräusch etwas häßlicher als sonst. Und nicht nur die Kleinteile durch das Zimmer verteilt, sondern auch die Kunststoffscharniere kaputt.

My sewing machine is on a very small table and so it happens from time to time that the fabric, coming out of the machine, pushes other things away and down they go.

Some time ago that happened to the small “put on table” of my sewing machine which also holds bobbins, feet and other small items that belong to the machine. That was not the first time it happened, but this time the sound it hit the floor with was different. And not only all the tiny items were well distributed over the room, also the closing mechanism of the box/table was broken.

Mein erster Reflex war natürlich, den Händler anzurufen um herauszufinden, ob es das überhaupt noch als Ersatzteil gibt. Denn meine Maschine ist eine der ersten aus der Serie und die späteren hatten diesen kleinen Anschiebetisch gar nicht mehr, sondern eine Extrabox fürs Zubehör.

Allerdings war Wochenende, der Händler nicht da und das gab mir Zeit zum Nachdenken. Dass der kleine Anschiebetisch hinter der Maschine stand hatte ja was damit zu tun, daß ich eh lieber den großen nutze. Wann hatte ich den kleinen denn das letzte Mal benutzt? … Gute Frage… könnte so 2004 zu einem Kurs gewesen sein.

Die Unterfadenspulen sind schon lange an einen anderen Ort gewandert. Was die Nähfüße betrifft reichte der Platz nicht mal für die am häufigsten verwendeten, weswegen diese immer irgendwo herumlagen. Die Nadeln hatten auch nur knapp Platz. Bleibt als Nutzwert also nur, daß man den Schraubenzieher und den Imbusschlüssel einklipsen konnte.

First idea was of course to call the dealer and check if this piece is still available. My machine is one of the early ones of that type and the later ones didn’t have that table/box anyhow.

But it was weekend, the dealer was closed and that gave me time to thing. Like.. why was the table behind the machine? Right, I normally use the big one. When did I use the small one last…? Hm.. might have been around 2004 for a class.

The bobbins have long left that table/box and are stored at a better and more spacious place. As far as the presser feet are concerned it did not even hold the ones I am using regularily so there were always some lying around to be at hand. The room for the machine needles wasn’t really sufficient either. So it was mostly useful to clip the key and the tiny screwdriver that came with the machine in place there.

Bißchen viel umbaute Luft für den Zweck…

Also ab zu Bauhaus und bei den Kleinteilemagazinen geguckt.

Und siehe da, für deutlich weniger als 10 EUR fand ich diese Box, in die viel mehr rein paßt und die gleichzeitig weniger Platz weg nimmt. 🙂

That makes a big box for a small use.

So I went to Bauhaus and checked the boxes for screws and other small items. Now I have a box that takes less room, stores more things properly and did cost far less than 10 EUR. 🙂
