Project Planning – Part 1

Es wird mal wieder Zeit, ein neues “richtiges” Projekt anzufangen. (Nicht nur so Kleinkram, den ich endlich mal knipsen und zeigen sollte…) Da ich gerne zusammen passende Teile nähe, wird also mal wieder geplant.

Time to start a new “real” project. (Not only small thingies. Which I should finally take pictures of to show them here…) I like making coordinated pieces, so a bit of planning comes first.

Ausgangspunkt war dieser Rock aus der Burdastyle von September 2013. Den wollte ich sofort haben. Zwar nicht in meiner Größe, aber das läßt sich ja basteln.

Starting point was this skirt from the September 2013 issue of Burdastyle. I had instantly wanted to have it. Not my size, but does not looks so complicated, should be doable.

Und irgendwie hatte ich “dunkelblau” dafür im Kopf.

And something said “navy” for that.

Die Jacke dazu gefiel mir nicht. Aber in letzter Zeit sah ich so viele Jacken im Biker-Stil. So was wollte ich auch schon immer mal haben, das wäre doch die Gelegenheit? Aus Leder, vielleicht? Ist aber teuer und wie findet man eine passende Farbe?

I didn’t like the jacket they had combined with it. But hadn’t I seen many jackets in Biker Stil lately? I had always wanted one like that, so why not now? Made of leather? Well… is expensive and how to find a matching color?

Während ich so einige Tage darüber nachdachte, fiel mir ein, daß ich doch noch diesen schönen Stoff von Malhia Kent im Schrank hatte.

Some days of thinking about it I remembered that lovely fabric by Malhia Kent in my wardrobe.

Allerdings habe ich nicht so viel davon… reicht das wohl?

It was a coupon so I do not have an enormous amount of it. Will it be enough?

Und woher einen Schnitt…? Aber halt, ich hatte doch letzten Sommer den Butterick 5927 für eine Kurzjacke verwendet. Da kann man doch sicher auch eine Bikerjacke basteln. Und die Schnittteile benutzen, um schon mal zu gucken, ob der Stoff reicht.

Now what pattern…? Oh stop, hadn’t I used Butterick 5927 for a short jacket last summer? I should be able to transform that into biker style. And I can use the pattern pieces I already have to check if the fabric is enough.

Stoff ist knapp. Für eine Kurzjacke ja, Biker-Stil mit dem schrägen Reißverschluss eher nicht. Aber… man könnte das ja mit einem anderen Stoff kombinieren…

Fabric is tight. A short jacket yes, biker-style with the diagonal zipper… likely not. But… I could add another fabric…

Während ich dann darüber nachsinne, ob ich meine bewährten Shirt Schnitte nehme, fragt eine Freundin, wer bei Hot Patterns mit bestellen will. Okay… deren Schnitte wollte ich auch schon immer mal ausprobieren. Also schnell deren Webseite durchgeforstet… Weekender Daytona Hoodie gefällt mir und nachdem ich immer noch die perfekte Bluse suche ist Plain & Simple Princess Shirt doch einen Versuch wert?

While I am still thinking if I should take my usual boring top patterns a friend asked who wanted to order something from Hot Patterns. I had always wanted to try one of those patterns so I headed to their website and liked the Weekender Daytona Hoodie. And since I am still looking for the perfect blouse pattern I decided to give Plain & Simple Princess Shirt a try.

Zeit für Stoffkauf… vorher noch ein Trip in die eigene Stoffkiste… da war ein dunkelblauer Sweat-Stoff… gerade noch genug für den Rock.

Time for fabric shopping… diving into my own fabric box first… surprise, a navy sweat shirt fabric… should be enough for the skirt.

Damit ich nicht wieder wüst unnötigen Stoff einkaufe, habe ich mir dann sogar brav eine Zusammenstellung für den Stoffkauf gemacht: Schnittzeichungen, benötigte Mengen und Stoffproben der schon vorhandenen Stoffe.

To prevent me from buying to many fabrics I even made a summary as a “shopping list”. Drawings, the amount of fabric needed and snips from the fabrics I already have.

Ich brauche also einen Kombistoff und einen Unterlegstoff für die Jacke sowie einen Jersey für den Hoodie und einen Webstoff für die Bluse.

So I’ll need a fabric to combine for the jacket and also a fabric for underlining, also a knit fabric for the hoodie and a woven fabric for the shirt. 

Damit ging es dann auf nach Paris….

With that in hand I left for Paris…
