Finally Knip!

Nachdem ich ja jetzt quasi schon Jahre um meine Knip Hefte herumschleiche, habe ich es getan. Das erste Projekt daraus in Angriff genommen.

Knip magazines are laying around here nearly for ages, always unused, but now I did it. I’ve started my first project from Knip.

Wie üblich nähere ich mich vorsichtig, dieses Kleid aus dem November 2010 Heft darf sich erst mal als Nachthemd bewähren. Bisher aber ich aber nur den Schnitt rauskopiert.

Das war nur so mittelprickelnd. Im Gegensatz zu Burda sind die Schittbogen recht klein, und so mußte sogar der Ärmel gestückelt werden. Das dann aber gleich doppelt, denn die Teilung des Ärmels auf dem Bogen verläuft wenige Zentimeter über der Kontrastblende. Und die darf man dann hinterher wieder vom abkopierten Ärmel abkopieren…. das hätte man vielleicht etwas besser lösen können.

Like mostly my approach is a careful one. I’ve choosen a dress from the november 2010 issue to make it a night shirt. What I did so far is tracing the pattern on plastic sheet.

This was already a mixed experience. The pattern sheets are relatively small, so all pieces were separated and had to be recombined. On long pieces that is hardly to avoid, but the piecing line of the sleeves was just centimeters above the separation line for the facing. So you first have to trace the sleeve, while connecting the two sleeve pieces on the pattern sheet and then you have to trace the facing from your copy as a separate piece. Wasn’t there a better solution…. maybe?
