Birthday party!

Am Wochenende war ich auf einer Geburtstagsparty.

Einer besonderen Geburtstagsparty.

Last weekend I’ve been to a birthday party.

A very special birthday party.

Das Hobbyschneiderin Forum wird nämlich dieses Jahr zehn Jahre alt und so haben wir Mitglieder uns selber gefeiert.

Nicht alle 80000 versteht sich, aber einige die Lust hatten, nach Aachen zu kommen.

The Hobbyschneiderin Forum is turning ten this years and so we threw a party for ourselves.

Not all 80.000 of course, but those who wanted to come to Aachen for the party.

Und wem das noch nicht Anlass genug war: Anne, die Forengründerin hatte auch einen runden Geburtstag, weswegen sie sozusagen ihre biologische Familie und ihre “Forenfamilie” für die große Party vereint hatte.

(Womit auch klar ist, wer sich die Mühe gemacht hat, das tolle Event zu organisieren. 😉 Danke, liebe Anne!)

And if that was not reason enough to join the party: Anne, the founder of the forum had an anniversary, too, so she had her biological family and her “web family” together for one party.

(So it’s clear who did the work for the party. 😉 Thank you for that also, dear Anne!)

Und weil es eine so spezielle Party war, haben wir es nicht nur bei Kaffee und Kuchen bewenden lassen, sondern auch fleißig gewerkelt.

And because it was such a special party we did not only drink coffee and eat cake, we also worked.

(At least some of us…)

Es wurde nicht nur gemessen, gezeichnet, gesteckt, geschnitten und genäht, auch die Stricknadeln klapperten eifrig. (Gerade wenn man mit der Bahn anreist, ist das einfach praktischer, als eine Nähmaschine anzuschleppen.)

Ich habe nur bei weitem nicht von jedem und von allem ein Bild!

We did not only measure, draw patterns, pin, cut and sew, there was also a lot of knitting going on. (Especially for those who came by train this is more convenient to take than a sewing machine.)

But I did not take a picture of everything and not of everyone!

Aber eines ist klar: Wir hatten alle ganz viel Spaß und mußten nach Mitternacht rausgeworfen werden, sonst hätten wir vergessen zu gehen. (Bis auf diejenigen, die in der Jugenherberge übernachtet haben, die rannten kurz nach Mitternacht freiwillig, denn dort ist Sperrstunden. *g*.)

Aber schließlich ging das Programm am Sonntag Morgen (!) mit einem Ausflug ins Museum weiter. Ich geh mal noch ein paar Bilder davon sortieren…

And we had so much fun! So we had to be thrown out after midnight, because we forgot to leave. (Except for those who had chosen to sleep in the youth hostel. They left shortly after midnight, and in a hurry, because they wanted to be at the hostel before the doors would be closed for the night. *g*)

And the party wasn’t over, we continued Sunday morning (!) with a trip to a museum. I’ll be off to prepare some pics from there also…
