The hole… and now?

Tja, wie hier schon geschrieben hat mein Trenchcoat nun ein Loch. (Siehe Pfeil.) Nicht riesig, aber schwarz und daher sehr gut zu sehen. Ob ich darüber traurig bin, wie Margitta gefragt hat weiß ich nicht so genau. Ganz glücklich war ich mit dem Mantel ja nie, der Herstellungsprozess enthielt doch die eine oder andere Fehlentscheidung. Sachen, die ich anders machen würde. Dazu kommt, daß mein Mann inzwischen einen echten Burberry (Second-Hand…) besitzt, von dem ich mir das eine oder andere Detail abgucken könnte und Burda im aktuellen Heft gerade so einen tollen Trench drin hat. Einen neuen und besseren Mantel zu nähen hat also durchaus positive Aspekte.

Well, as writte here my trenchcoat has a hole. (See arrow.) Not very big, but black and well to see. If I am sad about it as Margitta asked I don’t know. I’ve never been completely happy with this coat, the making of it was driven by several wrong decisions. Things I would like to do differently. Then meanwhile DH has a real (second hand…) Burberry Coat where I could copy details from plus Burda ihas thic nice coat in the latest issue. So sewing a new and better coat has some positive aspects, too.

Bevor ich allerdings auch nur dran denke, ein neues Projekt zu starten, muß ich mindestens das aktuelle (ein Rock, eine Jacke, zwei Tops) nähen sowie eines, das Stoff aus meinem Vorrat verbraucht. Also eigentlich eher… nächstes oder übernächstes Jahr.

But before I even think about starting a new project I will have to finish the current one (one skirt, one jacket, two tops) plus one that uses fabric from my stash. So… a coat would be more likely next year or 2017.

Das heißt, hierfür brauche ich eine Reparatur-Idee, die mich über die nächsten zwei Jahre bringt… hat jemand Vorschläge?

That means I need an idea how to cover this and brings the coat over the next two years…. any ideas?

KEINE Alternative ist, den Ärmel neu zuzuschneiden und einzunähen. Zum einen bin ich mit dem Mantel ja eh nicht superzufrieden, zum anderen ist es eine fürchterlich frickelige Arbeit (Der Ärmel hat noch Windstoppermembran drunter und die Nahtzugaben sind gut zurückgeschnitten) und von dem Absteppgarn habe ich keines mehr. Da das irgendein Restbestand von Gütermann war, kann ich das auch nicht nachkaufen.

NOT an option is cutting and sewing a new sleeve. First I am not too happy with the coat anyhow, so my motivation to invest more time in it is low. Then sewing in a new sleeve is no fun at all, the seam allowances are cut back and there is a windstopper involved. And I do not have any of the thread left, that was used for the flat felled seams. That was some remnant from Gütermann, so I can’t buy more of it.

Es sollte irgendwas sein, was nicht zu viel Arbeit macht und bei dem ich nicht den Mantel halb auftrennen muß. :o)

So it should be something that does not need to much work an what I can do without ripping half the coat apart. :o)
