Patchwork Princess
Hier mal wieder im Kleinformat, diesmal in einer etwas ungewohnten Ästhetik…
Again sewing in small scale, this time with a bit of unusal esthetics…
Die Anleitung ist wieder aus dem alten Burda Barbie Sonderheft und das Kleid war das Ergebnis eines Wettbewerbs. Der Entwurf eines Kindes, der vorsieht, daß jedes Rockpanel aus einem anderen bunten Stoff genäht wird. Das war nicht ganz einfach, 12 Stoffe in meiner Restetruhe zu finden, die wenigstens irgendwie zusammenpassen.
The pattern is again from my old Burda Barbie Special and the dress was the result of a contest. The design was made by a child and each of the skirt panels is supposed to be made from a different colored fabric. It was not so easy to find 12 different fabrics in my remnants trunk that at least fit together somehow.
Die Optik ist für mich ja dennoch sehr gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber Kinder mögen so was ja oft. Mal sehen, so in drei Jahren…
Still the optic of the dress is quite far from my usual taste. But children often like that. We will see… in about three years…
Die Anleitung war ein wenig seltsam, einerseits war sie in “Du-Form” verfasst und scheint sich an Kinder selber zu wenden, andererseits sind viele “Unterschritte” nicht erklärt und ansonsten ist die Erklärung auch nicht gerade kindgerecht und einfach. Zumal das Kleid mit den drei (bei mir eine Lage Chiffon und zwei Lagen Gardine…) Unterröcken auch nicht ganz trivial ist.
The instructions are a bit inconsistent. On the one hand they are evidently adressed to a child, sewing himself. On the other hand the explanations expect more than basic sewing knowledge and the steps are not really explained in a way a child could understand easily. Also the dress with the three layers of petticoats (in my case one chiffon, two layers curtain) is not completely trivial to make.
(Mein Puppenproblem habe ich auch gelöst, die Umsetzung dauert noch bis Dezember, aber ich habe offensichtlich einfach die falschen Leute gefragt… verwaiste Barbies gibt es in meinem Freundeskreis gar nicht so selten.)
(And I’ve solved my problem finding a real Barbie doll. It will take until December, but I evidently had asked the wrong people… there are quite some spare Barbies around amongst my friends.)
