Sommerlicher Nadelblick: Juni 2018

Fresh from the needles June 2018

Still not too much time for sewing, but underwear are quick projects, so I am about to sew my second bra from the pale pink fabric. Since at the moment the weather is longer hot than for three days in a row (followed by something like two weeks or a year of cold weather…) it became quite evident that the number of bras in lighter hues (that are not about to fall apart) is quite limited at the moment. So I will use the fabric to make some more as long as I have enough material. Since I did cut a part of the lace wrongly for the cami I don’t have much lace left, so that is only enough for a small accent of lace.

My “Morning Dove Shawlette” is nearly finished but at the same time as far away from finished as any project could be. How comes? Well… the shawlette is cute, but since I took smaller needles (where the stitches looked best to me) it is not only very small… even worse it used only a bit more than half of the yarn. My intention was to make the best use possible from the lovely “Maravillosa” by Dibadu Funnies. So… I am going to frog it completely and knit something different from the yarn. (Also the border does not completely convince me… but that is probably a solvable problem.)

The mittens from April have been finished and from the remnants of the remnant (“Merino Kid” by Shibui Knits) I am knitting I am knitting very small lace gauntlets. Combining the yarn with another remnant (“Del Cerro” by Aslan Trends). The pattern is Green Gauntlets by Mags Williamson. Only much shorter, due to yarn shortage.

Also I have socks on my needles. Yet another try to make self stripeying yarn into something interesting. The pattern are the Tipsy Toe Socks by Sybil R. The yarn is “Cotton Kolibri Color” by Schachenmayr Regia. What you buy when the price is good… and for the feet all colors are bascially okay.

And that’s it. No book at the moment. I’ve profited from my last trip to Paris to finish the book from april and another one. When I came home everything was swamped by magazines I’ve subscribed to. Now I am busy reading those…

Nachösterlicher Nadelblick: April 2018

Fresh from the needles – post Easter edition April 2018

I had to check back to February to realize that this time everything has changed. All projects from February have been finished and I have only new projects on or under the needle. Sewingwise it’s lingerie, so three panties are waiting for the elastic. (I never said the new projects were very thrilling… 😉 )

Maybe a surprise, but really no socks. But I am knitting mittens for our yearly charity knitting for the homeless. I think they are the first mittens I’ve ever made. The yarn is “Merino Kid” by Shibui Knits (still from that Web’s surprise packet I got a few years ago), the pattern is Bias Cable Mittens by Jennifer Reinhard. I did a swatch but I think they will be smaller than expected. But then they can be gifted to a kid. I’ve already frogged a lot. First because I did not pay attention to the cart and then because the chart did code the added stitches in a very surprising was. (On the second look a very practical way that suits the pattern perfectly fine, but different from all other charts I’ve seen in the last 30 years…)

And then I’ve started a new lace project. Okay, It has only a bit of lace on the border, but the Morning Dove Shawlette by Pam Jemelian fits my cashmere silk yarn “Maravillosa” by Dibadu Fannies just perfect. I’d purchased it in 2011 for a completely insane price, so it took me a while to find the right pattern.

Also the books on my nightstand have changed. I have a pile of craft books, but since I have to try out one pattern from the makramee book I haven’t started another one so far. I finished the other book and started a new one. To be honest already more than a month ago, because the other one was simply to heavy to travel with it. Now I have to see if I can remember the beginning of this one when picking it up again…
