Paris before Christmas:Printemps

Natürlich habe ich mir auch die Dekoration von Printemps nicht entgehen lassen.

An der Fassade auch hier ein starker Trend zum Recycling, die Sterne hatten wir doch 2007 und 2006 schon mal, die Farben auch, nur nicht in der Kombination.

Sieht durchaus nett aus (auch mit Lichtregie, ohne geht ja nichts mehr), kann aber mit der Pracht des Nachbarn nicht wirklich mithalten.

Of course I did not miss the decoration of Printemps either.

On the store front the same tendency for recycling, the stars were there in 2007 and 2006, the colors aren’t new either, but the combination is different.

It looks undoubtedly nice (has a light show, of course) but no chance against its neighbors dominant and brilliant lights.

Aber dafür sind die Schaufenster mit um so mehr Liebe dekoriert.

Einmal mit poetischen Stilleben, die das Geschirr präsentieren.

Aber auch die wollige Hundeschau… und ich bin sonst weder Hundefan noch ein Verfechter des Tiermäntelchens, aber dieses Rudel ist doch einfach hinreißen, oder?

But the window decoration is great this year.

The still life presenting tableware is so poetic.

And then the wooly dog show… I am not really a dog person neither do I think animals should wear coats, but this pack is so adorable, isn’t it?

Wovon wir uns aber fast gar nicht losreißen konnten waren die bewegten Szenen.

Witzig und ohne unnötigen Kitsch, detailverliebt und einfach hinreißend. Wir waren auch nicht die einzigen, die da länger davor standen.

(Von den Bildern hat übrigens einige mein Herzblatt gemacht, weil die Batterien meiner Kamera die Ladung streckten und die Ersatzbatterien gleich mit.)

Die Jagd der Gespenster war ja mein absolutes Lieblingsbild.

But what caught us most were the moving scenes.

Thy were full of wit, not to kitchy and showed an amazing love for detail. We were not the only ones to remain standing there. for quite a while.

(Some of those pics were made by DH, the batteries of my camera had given up and the replacement batteries I had with me followed nearly immediately.)

(The haunting ghosts were our favorites.)

Aber auch die anderen Bilder waren spannend anzusehen. Alle wichtigen Szenen eines gelungenen Festes (und das hat in Frankreich auch immer mit gutem Essen zu tun) sind zu finden und werden mit einem zwinkernden Auge dargestellt.

Daß die Bilder so komische Farben haben ist übrigens normal, die Fenster waren so gestaltet. (Musik gab es natürlich auch dabei.)

But the other scenes were also fun to watch. All important stages of a successful feast (which has a lot do to with good eating in France) were portrait which a touch of irony.

If you wonder about the odd colors of the pics: That is okay, the windows had all their own color theme. (And of course there was music that went with the scenes.)

Kürzlich wurde ich gefragt, wie lange die Fenster denn nach Weihnachten noch zu sehen sind. Ich muß gestehen, ich habe keine Ahnung. Weihnachtsdekoration in den Straßen kann schon auch mal bis Anfang Februar hängen, aber wie lange die Fenster bleiben… ich war nie nach Weihnachten, um zu gucken.

Ich vermute nicht zu lang, weil im Januar dann ja der Schlussverkauf beginnt, aber falls einer von euch schon mal geguckt hat: Erzählt’s uns im Kommentar!

Just some days ago someone wanted to know for how long the decoration remains after Christmas. I have to admit that I do not have the slightest idea, I never went the days after Christmas to check. I know that the decoration in the streets might remain until February in some regions, but the windows…?

I guess not very long, because the sales start in January, but if someone of you knows: Please leave a comment and tell us!
