Ein kleines bißchen Lace…

A Little Bit of Lace…

Lace Schal.. geht immer.

… is never wrong.

Sprich während der eine Schal aufs Spannen wartete, habe ich natürlich ein neues Lace Projekt angeschlagen.

So while the scarf was waiting to be blocked I had already started the next lace project.The pattern will only be visible after blocking, but I am into repeat 19 of 40, so I am nearly halfway through.

Man erkennt auf dem Bild zwar noch nichts vom Muster, aber von den 40 Rapporten habe ich schon 18 und ein bißchen.

“Myrtle Leaf Shawl with Willow Border” aus Victorian Lace Today soll es werden. Diesmal in schwarz, wie das Original. (Ja,machmal kann ich mich auch an die Anleitung halten…) Als Garn habe ich mir wieder Isager Alpaca 1 in der Maschenkunst ausgesucht, damit habe ich ja schon mal gute Erfahrungen gemacht.

Bis diese Stola fertig ist, wird es allerdings noch dauern, es sind ja noch etliche andere Projekte zu machen, gerade vor Weihnachten.

This time it’s the “Myrtle Leaf Shawl with Willow Border” from Victorian Lace Today.In black, like it’s in the book. Yes, sometimes I can follow instructions. Yarn is Isager Alpaca 1 from Maschenkunst, I’ve already used it once and had liked it.

But it will take quite awhile before this will be finished, because there are a lot of other projects waiting to be made, especially before christmas.

Fern for Christmas

Lace ScarfUm das supersofte Cashmere von Artyarns in der Maschenkunst war ich ja eine ganze Weile herumgeschlichen. Aber der Preis… für eine Stola in meiner üblichen Größe reicht auch da ein Knäuel nicht. Aber ein Schal… für eine besondere Person…

I fell in love with the super soft Artyarns Cashmere the first time I saw it at Maschenkunst. But the price was beyond the “Let’s just buy it” level. And shawls I normally knit take more than one skein. But a scarf… for a special person…

Also habe ich jetzt mein erstes Weihnachtsgeschenk fertig. 🙂

So my first Christmas gift is finished. 🙂

Ein passendes Muster habe ich via Ravelry gefunden: CashSilk Fern Scarf war das passende Muster. Sogar kostenlos und bringt das Garn gut zur Geltung.

Soo duftig leicht…

To find the right patter I checked ravelry: CashSilk Fern Scarf was the perfect pattern. It was even free and it brings out the yarn really well.

Sneaker SockenAuch diesen Socken bekamen noch einen Praxistest, bevor der Sommer endgültig vorbei war.

Und nun habe ich auch die Anleitung aufgeschrieben. Wie immer zum privaten und nicht kommerziellen Gebrauch frei.

Swimming scarf

Cashmere Schal schwimmtGut, daß ein leichter Lace-Schal erst mal auf dem Wasser schwimmt und man ihn herunterdrücken muß, damit er sich vor dem Spannen schön vollsaugt, das kenne ich ja schon.

If you put a lace scarf in water to soak it before blocking means normally, that it will not sink quickly by itself. That’s no news to me.

Aber daß er auch wieder hochkommt, nachdem ich ihn drei Mal runter gedrückt habe und sogar ein bißchen zusammengedrückt, damit mehr Lift rausgeht und Wasser rein kann… das hatte ich dann auch noch nicht gesehen.

Dieses Cashmere 1 von Artyarns ist schon ein ganz besonderes Material…

But that it comes up floating again after I pushed it three times under water, even squeezing carefully to remove air and give way for the water… that I hadn’t seen before.

False start into Christmas season

SockenDieses Jahr wollte ich zeitig mit den Vorbereitungen für Weihnachten anfangen und ich habe tatsächlich auch ein paar Socken angefangen.

This year I wanted to start early with my Christmas preparations and I already started a pair of socks.

Allerdings hat mich am Wochenende jemand dran erinnert, daß wir uns für den geplanten Empfänger ja schon was anderes überlegt hatten…

Naja, dann gibt es die Socken halt nächstes Jahr zum Geburtstag. Dafür bin ich dann wirklich früh dran. Andererseits habe ich dann noch Zeit mir zu überlegen, wie man das Muster wenigstens ein bißchen sichtbarer gestaltet…

Only this weekend I was reminded that we had already decided to give another gift to that person…

Well,… the socks will make a birthday gift then. Next year. So I am really early. On the other hand that gives me some time to figure out how to make the pattern a bit more visible….

Shrug von hintenMein Shrug/Stola ist schon seit einiger Zeit fertig, jetzt kommen auch endlich die Bilder.

Ich bin mit dem Ergebnis doch recht zufrieden.

Er paßt zum Kleid und ist, wie oft bei Lace Sachen aus hochwertiger Wolle, wärmend, obwohl er so dünn ist.

My shrug/shawl is already finished for quite a while, but here finally the pics.

I am quite happy how it turned out.

Shrug von vorneIt fit’s the dress and keeps surprisingly warm even though it is very fine, as it often the case with lace out of good material.

Ich hatte zuerst etwas Bedenken, daß der Übergang vom ersten auf das zweite Muster doch etwas krass sein könnte, aber dadurch daß der Übergang wie geplant auf der Schulterkugel passiert sieht es doch genau so aus wie geplant. (Das klappt ja nicht immer…)

Größe ist etwa 130 cm x 45 cm. Genauere Maße gibt es in der Anleitung, die kommt demnächst, das Muster aufzuschreiben ist irgendwie doch kompliziert…

First I was a bit afraid that the step from the first to the second part might look a bit abrupt, but since this happens on the shoulder as intended it also looks exactly as I had planned. (Which does not always work…)

Size is about 130 cm x 45 cm. I’ll take more precise measures once I will write the pattern. Writing all that down is quite complicated….

Hand and Foot

SandalensockenNachdem ich schon zwei paar “Fußschoner” aus dem Knäuel herausgestrickt hatte war immer noch was übrig. Also habe ich für meine “Ärgersandelen” noch geschwind zwei “Sandalensocken” genadelt.

After two pairs of “footlings” from that ball of yarn there was still some yarn left. So I made a quick pair of sandal liners.

Die Anleitung? Ganz einfach: 52 Maschen auf dem Nadelspiel anschlagen, zur Runde schließen und 33 Runden im Rippenmuster (2 rechts, 2 links) stricken. Nadelstärke war bei mir 2 mm, wer weniger locker strickt nimmt eher 2,5 mm. Locker abketten. Das dürfte für die meisten Frauenfüße passen.

Fußschoner am ArmInstructions? Easy: Cast-On 52 on dpns, close to round, knit 33 rounds in 2-2 ribbing. Bind of loosely. I took needlesize 2mm, whoknitsless loosely takes 2,5mm. Should fit most womens feet.

Und wenn im Herbst keine Sandalen mehr angesagt sind…. dann taugen sie auch als Pulswärmer. 😉

And when the season for sandals is over… no problem thy make wristlets in autumn and winter. 😉

Ja, ich weiß, das wird allmählich ein Strick-Blog…

Yes, I know, that seems to become a knitting blog…

Nach diesen Füßlingen war natürlich noch jeden Menge Garn übrig, also dachte ich mir, für Sneaker Socken sollte es reichen. Sicherheitshalber mit Lochmuster auf dem Fuß. Nicht nur, weil es luftiger ist für den Sommer, auch weil es Garn spart…

Sneaker SockeAfter I made these liners I had a lot of yarn left. So I thought a pair of ultra short sneaker socks should be makable. with a net-pattern, to make them more breezy but also because that saves yarn.

Operation gelungen, Socke paßt.

Ein bißchen Garn ist noch da. Ob das noch für Sandalensocken reicht…?

Mission accomplished, socks fit.

There’s still some yarn left.That might make a pair of sandal liners again…?

Pattern mystery

Ich gestehe ja, mit selbstmusternder Sockenwolle habe ich es nicht so. Streifen, gut, das funktioniert. Aber diese anderen Jacquard-artigen Muster… funktionieren eh nur, wenn man genau die richtige Maschenzahl pro Runde braucht. (Was nie eine ist, mit der ich was anfangen kann) und natürlich bitte auch keinen Zwickel stricken, das ändert die Maschenzahl, ganz schlecht.

SockensohlenI admit self patterning sock wool is not my favorite. Stripes work all right, but those intarsia like effects… they only work with the right number of stitches per round (Which never is one that fits me) and don’t knit a gusset, that would change the stitch count. Bad, very bad…

Die linke Sockensohle zeigt also das von mir gewohnte Muster: Keines. Oben im Bild die Spitze und die Ferse lassen erahnen, daß es bei anderer Maschenzahl tatsächlich ein Muster geben könnte.

Left in the picture the first sock. This sole show the pattern I get usually: no pattern. The toe on top and the heel on the bottom of the pic where the number of stitches is different give a hint that under the right conditions a pattern could appear.

Überraschend dann aber die rechte Socke. Gleiche Maschenzahl, gleiche Nadelstärke, die Socken sind auch gleich weit…aber an einigen der Streifen zeigt sich eine Art Muster. Aber nicht an allen.

Das erkläre mir mal einer…

But the real surprise is the right sock. Same number of stitches, same needle size, same width of the sock… but some of the stripes show a kind of pattern. But not all.

Now explain that…
