Miniature Evening Dress
Seit Urzeiten besitze ich ein Burda-Sonderheft “Barbie”. (Müßte so aus den 1990ern sein.) Nur immer wenn Freunde Mädchen im passenden Alter hatten, kam ich nie dazu, was draus zu nähen. Daher bin ich diesmal schlauer. Meine kleine Nichte ist dieses Jahr erst geboren, aber wenn ich ab jetzt immer mal ein Modell nähe, dann habe ich hoffentlich genug fertig, wenn sie alt genug dafür ist…
Since olden times I own a Burda Secial issue “Barbie”. (Should be from the 1990s.) Only I nver used it, because when friends had girls at the appropriate age I did not have the time to sew something for them. So this time I am smarter. My niece was born this year and when I am starting now, sewing a dress now and then, I should have something to give, when she is old enough.
Hier also das erste Modell (Modell 23 im Heft) aus brauner Baumwolle mit pinkfarbenem Stickgarn und pinkfarbenen Roccailles. Zu dem Minikleid gibt es noch Armstulpen.
So here is the first model from my collection (it’s no. 23 in the mag) made of brown cotton with pink embroiudery yarn and pink beads. The minidress comes with extra sleeves.
Das Nähen von diesen Kleinteilen war etwas ungewohnt, aber es ging. Und ich habe mal wieder festgestellt, daß der Aufwand für ein Teil weniger mit der Endgröße, sondern mit der Anzahl der Teile zu tun hat. Was hier beträchtlich ist, denn Rock und Ärmel haben je drei Schichten Rüschen. Als Verschluss gibt es drei 5mm Druckknöpfe von Koh-i-noor. die sind nämlich noch mal kleiner als die 6mm von Prym, was hier ein echter Vorteil ist.
Sewing those tiny parts was a bit unfamiliar for me, but it was okay. And I’ve learned again that the amount of time a dress takes is not so much related with the size of the finished dress, but with the number of parts. Since the ruched sleeves and the skirt have three layers each, that were quite a lot. For the closure I used my tiny 5mm Koh-i-noor snaps. They are smaller than the 6mm by Prym which on that scale does make a difference.
Die Puppe ist übrigens keine echte Barbie, das ist das billigste was der Markt her gibt… “Bella” von Tedi für 3 EUR. Zum Photographieren taugt sie, einem Kind würde ich sie eher nicht geben. Außerdem passen die Plastikteile so schlecht aneinander, daß an der Schulter ein etwa 3mm breiter Spalt offen steht. Aber wie gesagt… als Photomodell muß sie es tun.
The doll is far from beeing a real Barbie, that is the cheapest substitue I could finde… “Bella” from Tedi for 3 EUR. Okay for taking pictures, but I would not give it to a child, I guess. And the plastic parts fit so badly, that she has a 3mm wide opening at one of the shoulders. But, well… for taking picures she’ll have to do.
