„Bird“alarm at Maschenkunst! (Sorry, that translates badly…)

Regelmäßige Leser(innen) des Maschenkunst Blogs wissen es ja schon, ein Schwarm Wollmeisen ist eingeflogen und steht seit Dienstag zum Verkauf.

100kg hat Daniela bekommen und das Bild zeigt, was heute am späten Nachmittag davon noch da war.

It might be necessary to explain something… „Meise“ is a kind of a bird. „Wolle“ is similar to English, means wool or yarn. And „Wollmeise“ is a combination of both words and the brand of an indie wool dyer whose yarn is hard to get. She updates her shop only from time to time and it seems people are using an alarm clock not to miss it and trying to catch at least something.

And 100kg of this fabulous yarn have arrived at Maschenkunst in Cologne and are on sale since Tuesday. What you see on the picture is what was left today in the afternoon. four boxes reduced to less than half.

Daß ich mir einen Wecker stelle um bei einem Shopupdate vielleicht was zu ergattern kommt nun nicht in die Tüte. Ich habe ein Leben außerhalb des Internets und es gibt extrem viele schöne Garne.Und um sie auf gut Glück und ohne Farben und Qualität zu kennen zu kaufen sind sie mir dann zu teuer.

Aber wenn sie vor Ort sind und befummelt werden können… sieht das doch anders aus.

I am definitely not someone who sets the alarm clock, clicking wildly through the shop trying to catch at least something, no matter what. I have a life outside the web and there are more beautiful yarns in the world than I will ever have the chance to knit with. Also to buy without knowing the colors and without touching and feeling the quality they are to expensive for my taste.

But if I have a chance to see and touch them things are different.

Dass ich bei meinem Einkauf tatsächlich mäßig war verrät mir Isas Kommentar „für dich reicht eine kleine Tüte“. 🙂

Gelandet sind 300g Lace Garn „Stella Polaris“ in semi solid. Für In the Pink von IzziKnits suche ich nämlich schon länger nach einem Garn das weder zu bunt, noch ganz einfarbig ist. Ich hoffe die Stärke passt. (Vom Lace Garn waren als ich ging noch vier oder fünf da.)

Größer war die Auswahl bei der Twin und der Merino Superwash, wobei die meisten Farben die mich interessiert hätten nur in Twin da waren, ich aber die etwas längere Lauflänge von der reinen Merino bevorzugt hätte. Nicht schlimm, einfach weniger gekauft. 🙂

Evidently I was a moderate shopper because Isa handed me the yarn with the words „a small bag will do for you“.

I picked a 300g skein of lace yarn in „Stella Polaris“ color in semi solid. I am eying the patter In the Pink by IzziKnits for some time already, but couldn’t find a yarn that was neither to agitated nor completely plain solid. I hope the yarn will fit the pattern in the end. (When I left there were only four or five lace yarns left.)

For the fingering yarns, the „Twin“ sock yarn and the merino superwash the choice was still bigger. A pitty that the colours I prefered were only there in „Twin“ when I would have prefered them in Merino. Mostly for the reason that the 100% Merino has a little more length per skein, what I prefer. But that wasn’t to bad, so moderate shopping was easier.

Links ist ein Multicolor „verhext und verratzt“, lila mit grau, was sicher was tragbares für mich wird. Wer mich kennt, den wird das quietschrüne „Wasabi“ in der Mitte irritieren. Ja, ich kann mir nicht vorstellen, das je zu tragen. Aber die Farbe sprach derart stark zu mir, was ja eher selten vorkommt, daß sie mit mußte. Ähnliches gilt für die „Flaschenpost“ rechts, auch das ist zu grün für mich. Da habe ich aber schon eine konkrete Geschenkverwendung im Auge. Mal sehen, ob ich mich bis Weihnachten noch umentscheide.

Those who know me an my habits are surely irritated by the very green „Wasabi“ in the middle. Right, I can’t image wearing something that color ever.
