Diesen Monat sind es wirklich Einblicke, weil die Arbeiten eher an den Innenseiten passieren.

Insights this month, because a lot of work is going on inside of the projects.

Jackenteile mit "Korsett" aus Rosshaarleinen Als Nähprojekt steht meine Jacke wieder alleine da. Die Reißverschlüsse sind gekommen und da mein Stoff sehr weich ist, Metallreißverschlüsse aber schwer, bekommt die Jacke an allen Öffnungen für Reißverschlüsse (also auch Taschen und Ärmelschlitze) eine Art „Korsett“ aus schräg geschnittenen Streifen Rosshaarleinen. Diese muß ich leider von Hand aufhexen… Was schneller gehen würde, wenn man nicht einen Streifen wieder ganz abtrennen muß, weil einem auffällt, daß der Reißverschluss doch auf diese und nicht auf die andere Seite muß. :-p

My jacket is back to its status of an only sewing project. I got the zips, but my fabric is very soft and metal zips are heavy, so I am handsewing a kind of a „corset“ on all openings that will have zips. (Including sleeve vents and pocket openings. I am using bias cut strips of a woven interfacing as usually used in tailoring. And sewing that on would be a little faster if on would not have to rip one of the strips completely when recognizing thet this is the side where the zip should be sewn in first. :-p

Strickkleid auf links gedrehtMein Strickkleid ist letztendlich gestrickt. (Nachdem ich den Saumabschluss noch mal getrennt habe und dann doch mit einigen Maschen weniger neu gestrickt.) Jetzt sind aber noch viele, viele Fädchen zu vernähen, bevor es durch Waschen seine endgültige Größe bekommt.

My knitting dress is finally… not finished but knit. I ripped the hem after having the thread ends woven in and redid it with fewer stitches. Now there are a lot of threads to weave before I can wash it and see if it turns out the right size.

SockeWas meine Obdachlosensocken betrifft bin ich beim Paar Nummer vier.

As far as the „socks for the homeless project“ is concernd I am on my forth pair.

HäkeldeckeWenig Fortschritt an der Häkeldecke, aber sie hat jetzt die engültige Länge und ich muß tatsächlich nur noch das kleine Eck oben rechts auffüllen. Das wird noch 11 Hexagons brauchen. Die habe ich sogar noch, ich muß als keine neuen häkeln!

My hexagon blanket has only progressed a little bit, but I have the length I want and now there is only this relatively small corner on the upper right to fill. I will need 11 more hexagons for that. Which means… I have enough and do not need to crochet any more of them!

Danach muß ich dann gefühlte 500 Wollfäden am Rand entlang vernähen. Denn es wird keinen zusätzlichen Häkelrand geben.

After that I will have to weave what feels like 500 thread ends. Because I decided I will leave it like that and not crochet a border around.

Bücher Und weil ich gerade dran denke, gibt es auch mal wieder einen Blick auf meine Nachttischlektüre… das linke Buch ist so grundlegend, wie ich es mag. Selbst wie man einen Fingerhut richtig aufsetzt und warum wird erklärt. – Außerdem erweitert es meinen englischen Wortschatz, denn ich habe endlich den Unterschied zwischen „scissors“ and „shears“ gefunden. Das wird mich jendenfalls noch eine ganze Weile erfreuen, denn solche Bücher lese ich in kleinen Portionen. Ich will ja möglichst viel davon in meinem Hirn einlagern.
Das rechte Buch ist spannender als gedacht, was nun wieder meinen sonstigen Aktivitäten abträglich sein dürfte.

And since I just remembered to do so… I include a look on the books that are on my nightstand for reading right now. The one on the left is as basic as I love it. It even explains how to put on a thimble correctly and why. Plus it helps my understandig of English. I now know the difference between „scissors“ and „shears“.
The book on the right is more thrilling than I had thought. I guess that will have some negative influence on my other activities…

Confiture III

brombeere201501Und das sind die letzten Deckelchen für dieses Jahr… Himbeeren hatten wir ja kaum, unsere übliche Brombeerhecke ist auch gerodet, aber an herrnelosen Brombeerhecken hat es hier keinen Mangel, also reiche Ernte.

Those are the last confiture covers for this year…. we had hardly any raspberries and the brambles DH usually harvested have been taken down also, but there are more places with wild brambles on public ground, so nice harvest there.

Allmählich gehen mir die geeigneten Stoffreste aus, aber auf Sweat kann man doch erstaunlich gut sticken.

I had to write/embroider on sweatshirt fabric, because I start running out of cotton fabric in the right thickness….

Confiture II

KirschkonfitüreDa sich unsere diesjährige Himbeerernte in sehr engen Grenzen hält (wartet im Gefrierschrank, gibt aber höchstens ein Glas, wenn man Marmelade kocht) habe ich auf dem Markt auch noch Süßkirschen geholt und verkocht. Einen Teil gewürzt mit Quatre Épices, einen Teil „normal“.  Auch die stehen jetzt im Keller. Bis auf das eine Glas, das ich gleich mal probieren mußte… (Merke: 1,5 TL Gewürze wäre vielleicht auch genug gewesen… aber lecker!)

Since our rapberry „harvest“ this year was so poor (is still in the freezer, but will hardly make on jar of jam if we use it for that) I bought locally grown sweet cherries on the market and made confiture of them. Partially with Quatre Épices, partially „plain“. They are also in the storage cellar now. Exept the one jar I had to try right away. (Note to self: 1,5 tbls of the spices might have been enough also… but the result is yummy!)

Confiture I

ErdbeermarmeladeAuch wenn meine Jacke auf die Reißverschlüsse wartet, es gibt ja immer saisonalen Kleinkram. Das ist die Erdbeermarmeladenproduktion von diesem Jahr. Einmal mit Vanille und püriert, einmal „normal“ und stückig. Die Deckelchen sind aus dem gleichen Stoff, die aufgestickten Schriften aber unterschiedlich. So kennt man sie dann auch im Vorratskeller halbwegs auseinander.

My vest is waiting for the ordered zippers, but there is always seasonal stuff. That’s this years strawberry jam. Partiallywith vanilla and mixed, the other part plain and with chewable pieces. The covers use the same fabric, but the embroidered writing is in different colors. So you can pick the right one in the storage cellar.

Diversified again: fresh from the needles august 2015

Allmählich nähere ich mich wieder meinem üblich eher chaotischen Arbeitsstand an, bei dem diverse Projekte gleichzeig halbfertig rumliegen…

Slowly I am back to my usual working scheme that makes me having several not finished projects around…

Jackenteile
Meine Bikerjacke besteht aus zugeschnittenen Teilen, es gibt auch einzelnen Nähte, aber im Großen und Ganzen warte ich hier auf die Reißverschlüsse.

My biker jacket is cut, some seam also exist, but mostly it’s folded away and waits for the zippers.

Jerseykleid burda 6785
Derweil habe ich mir schon mal den Schnitt vorgenommen, der eines der Oberteile werden soll. Burda 6785. Dank der h&h habe ich da ja mal wieder einen Einzelschnitt von Burda, was ich schon lange nicht mehr genäht habe. Bevor ich meinen Stoff für das Shirt zerschneide gibt es also erst mal ein Probeteil aus einem billigen Stretch-Viscose Jersey das, regelmäßige Leser ahnen es schon, als Nachthemd herhalten darf. Da fehlt nur noch der Saum und vermutlich ein paar Handstiche, um den Beleg im Vorderteil zu befestigen.

So I started the preparations for one of the tops that are supposed to complete the outfit. I choose Burda 6785 which I got as a gift on the h&h trade fair. Since it is a very long time that I used a Burda pattern not from the magazine I wanted to test first. I had a cheap viscose four way stretch knit in my stash I sacrificed for the testing. And regular readers might guess… this will end up as a sleepwear. Here only the hem is missing and maybe some handstiches to tack down the front facing.

Strickkleid
Mein Strickkleid ist leider noch nicht fertig. Liegend misst es etwa 80cm, angezogen zum Glück etwas mehr, weil das Eigengewicht des Kleides auch nach unten zieht. (Mein „Vorlagekleid“ misst 106 cm.) Und da der Wolladen leider schließt, habe ich dort noch das letzte Knäuel in blau gekauft. Damit könnte es dann wirklich reichen.

My knit dress isn’t finished yet. Laying on the floor it measures about 80cm, luckily the weight pulls it down a bit when worn. (The dress I took the measurements from has a lenght of 106cm.) And since the yarn shop is closing down I bought the last skein blue they still had. So the yarn might be enough.

begonnene Socke
Zusätzlich habe ich Socken für meine Aktion Socken stricken für Obdachlose angeschlagen. Noch nicht viel zu sehen, mal schaun, wie viel ich so schaffe…

Then I started socks for my Knitting socks for the homeless campaign. Not much to see and we’ll see how many socks I can manage.

Häkeldecke
Und natürlich gibt es ein Bild der Häkeldecke. Ich habe gestern davon profitiert, daß es trocken war, habe sie im Garten ausgelegt und vom Balkon aus photographiert… (Da ich seit gestern nichts dran gemacht habe, ist der Stand aber auch noch aktuell. 😉 )

And of course a picture of my endless Granny Hexagon. Yesterday it was dry and sunny, so I dragged it out in the garden and took a picture from the balcony above…. (Since I did not work anything on it since yesterday the pic is still up to date. 😉 )

For a Paris Fan…

paristuch1502Das Handtuchpanel mit dem Eifelturm hatte ich mal in Paris mitgenommen, so nach dem Motto „wo am nötigsten“. und jetzt passt es, denn jemand bezieht sein erstes Appartment.

The panel with the Eifel tower I’ve found some time ago in Paris and took it without knowing what I would need it for. But Eifel tower is always good. And now someone is moving into his first appartment.

Die Nähaufgabe war einfach, alle vier Kanten doppelt einschlagen, nicht vergessen, etwas Haushaltsband als Aufhänger einzuklemmen, einmal rum nähen… fertig. 🙂 Ich kann auch mal schnell.

Sweing was easy, folding all borders twice, not forgetting to fold in some ribbon for a hanger, sewing around… done. 🙂 Sometimes I can do fast projects.

Fresh and disciplined from the needles in June 2015

Ich habe gerade einen Zustand, den ich eigentlich gerne immer so hätte, aber nur selten erreiche: Es sind keine Projekte halbfertig in irgendeiner Ecke, sondern ich habe nur so viele Projekte in Arbeit, wie es sinnvoll ist.

Today I have a state I am always trying to have but hardly ever achieve: There are no nearly finished projects stored away and forgotten somewhere, but I have only as many projects going as it makes sense.

TestjackeBei Nähprojekte ist das genau eines. Nein, keine Sträflingsuniform, ein Probeteil. So ein Bettwäschesett gibt ja aus… Nach dem Photo habe ich mal Schulterpolster eingesteckt und die ersten Änderungen abgesteckt. Die Grundform entspricht schon dem, was ich haben will, aber es sind genug Änderungen, daß ich alle Schnitteile ändern muß und es ein zweites Probeteil geben wird. (Auch das wieder zum Wegwerfen, ich brauche nicht zwei solcher Jacken und will daher meine Zeit nicht mit einer unnötigen Ausarbeitung vergeuden.)

When it comes to sewing projects the „good number“ for me is one. No, not a clown vest, a muslin. (This bedding stuff really is a lot of fabric…) After taking the picture I pinned shuolder pads inside and tried it on. Tha basic shape is what I want but there is enough left, to alter all pieces and make a second muslin. (Which will not be wearable either. I dont need such a jacket twice, so I won’t waste my time finishing a jacket.)

Angefangenes StrickkleidZum Stricken gibt es ein „Sofaprojekt“, nämlich ein Kleid aus dem mühsam gejagten Garn. Da die Puppe schlanker ist als ich, geht es bei ihr schon fast bis zur Taille, so weit bin ich noch lange nicht, eher knapp über den Busen. Da der Laden nur einen Monat Garnrückgabe gewährt (und schon alleine deswegen nie mein „Standardladen“ werden kann) und der abgelaufen ist muß ich mir darüber keine Gedanken mehr machen. Allerdings befürchte ich im Moment auch eher, daß das Garn nicht reicht. Ich vermute, ich habe mich für eine dichtere Maschenprobe entschieden als das Originalkleid, das braucht dann natürlich auch deutlich mehr Garn… Und die Hüftzunahme habe ich noch lange nicht erreicht.

To knit I have one „couch project“, a dress from the yarn that was hard to get. Since the dress form is much slimmer than me the dress reaches nearly down to the waist. but in real it hardly goes over the bust. Since the yarn shop allows returns only within one month (and so can never become my „standard shop“) and that is over I do not have to consider that any longer. But I am more afraid it might not be enough. I think I choose a denser gauge than the original instructions and that of course eats way more yarn… And I am far from having reached the full (hip) width.

SockeDa ich das Kleid ständig anprobieren muß und mich mit den 5 Knäueln dran auch nicht unbedingt durch die Gegend bewegen muß gibt es für unterwegs noch ein paar Socken. An denen wird nicht viel gearbeitet, aber die Ferse ist gerade begonnen.

Since the dress has to be tried on every few rows and I do not want to move around with it with the five skeins of yarn attached I need a pair of socks as a transportable project. They don’t make fast progress, but I’ve reached the first row of the heel anyhow.

HäkeldeckeUnd natürlich gibt es auch ein Bild von der Häkeldecke. Ich habe 40 weitere Hexagons fertig und kann daher wieder Reihen anhäkeln. Ich schätze mal noch so fünf mehr, dann könnte ich auch die fertige Länge erreicht haben und die Reihen werden wieder kürzer.

And of course a progress pic of my granny blanket. I’ve finished those 40 more hexagons and could go back to installing the hexagons to the blanket. I think maybe 5 more rows and I will have the full lenght. Then the rows will become shorter.

Hund nach Aranzi Aronzo

Wie man sieht gebe ich mich wieder dem zweckfreien Nähen hin. (Bevor das hier vollends zum Strick- und Häkelblog mutiert…)Das bedeutet auch, mein letztes Jahr angefangener Rock ist fertig (denn ich verarbeite ja die Reste), ich habe nur noch keinen willigen Photographen gefunden.

As you can see there is a bid of sewing without a reason. (Before that becomes a pure knitting and crochet blog…) Which means the skirt I started sewing last year is finished (because I am using the remnants), but I haven’t found a willing photographer yet.

Die Anleitung für den Hund habe ich wieder aus meinem Buch von Aranzi Aronzo und weil mein Stoff nicht gestreift sondern langweilig blau war, habe ich noch ein Hemd von Hand aufgestickt. Das Stickgarn ist „Bloom“ von einer neuen indischen Marke namens Quiltweaves, die aber wohl noch im Aufbau ist, so daß da noch nichts zu sehen ist. (Bisher macht die Firma wohl vor allem Dekostoffe in Mumbai.) Ich bekam auf der h&h da eine Tüte voll Pröbchen von so allerhand in die Hand gedrückt und das war eine Gelegenheit, es gleich mal zu testen. Das Stickgarn ist die „einfache Serie“, glänzt nicht so stark und lies sich aber auch mit meinen eher ungeübten Fingern gut verarbeiten. Trotz langer Fäden weder Fadensalat noch aufspleißende Fäden.

The pattern for the dog is again from my book by Aranzi Aronzo and since my fabric is not striped but boringly plain I decided to embroider a top by hand. The embroidery floss is „Bloom“ by a very new Indian brand called Quiltweaves. They are evidently still at an early stage for their new brand because the web page does not work yet. (So far they seem to make mostly home dec fabrics in Mumbai.) I got a bunch of stuff stuffed in my hands on the h&h and since I do not handembroider a lot I used the possibility to test the thread. „Bloom“ is their „simple thread“ and it is less shiny but even with my unexpreienced fingers it stitched very well. I used quite long threads but it did not tangle and I had not problems with breaking thread in the eye of the needle.

Fresh from the needles in April 2015

Durch Ostern und die Messenachlese wurde dieser Beitrag etwas zurückgestellt, aber nicht vergessen. Also hier tagesaktuell was bei mir auf und unter den diversen Nadeln ist. Ihr werdet feststellen, daß zumindest bei den Stricksachen einiges nicht mehr in der Parade dabei ist…

With Easter and the trade fairs this update comes a little later than usual. But now fresh from on and under my needles. You’ll see that at least from the knitting stuff some are missing here…
Versäuberung RocksaumDie Arbeit an meinem Rock habe ich endlich wieder aufgenommen. Die Versäuberung des Saumes steht gerade an.

I finally came back to my navy skirt. Working on the hem binding.
Bügel versiegeln. Auch von meinem „ewigen“ BH gibt es Fortschritte. Ich habe mir nämlich kurz vor Ostern Hammerite Metallschutzlack in weiß gekauft und siehe da… nur zwei Tauchgänge erbringen einen wesentlich dickeren Tropfen auf den Bügelenden als die sechs Runden im Klarlack vorher. Einmal noch eintauchen, dann sollte es ausreichend gesichert sein und ich kann den BH endlich fertig machen.

There is also some progress on my „eternal“ bra. I bought some Hammerite polish for metal shortly before Easter and… surprise, surprise… after dipping the cut wires into it only twice the cover is already better than dipping six or so times into the varnish I had before. So one more go and it should be ready to be installed in the bra finally.
HäkelmützeGanz frisch angehäkelt, nämlich gestern Abend, ist diese Mütze. Ich habe da mal wieder ein Buch zur Rezension vorliegen und man muß ja gucken, ob die Anleitungen auch stimmen…

Super freshly started from yesterday night is this crochet hat. I have a book for reveiw here and of course I have to check, if the instructions are correct…
SockenEin paar Socken habe ich aber auch auf den Nadeln. Das Muster habe ich mal wieder in der Knitty gefunden, mit einfachen Hebemaschen kann man auch aus langweiliger Ringelwolle noch was rausholen. Mein Versuch, mal wirklich gleiche Socken zu stricken wurde allerdings im Keim erstickt: gleich im dritten Streifen, noch auf der Spitze, war ein Knoten, wo offensichtlich ein, zwei Meter Garn in der Farbe fehlen. Billige Sockenwolle von Lidl ist vielleicht nicht optimal, wenn man identische Socken will…

But some socks are on my needles, too. The pattern is from knitty, easy to do and transforms boring selfstripeying yarn into something more interesting. So for the first time in my life I intended to knit identical socks. Well, alread the third stripe on the toe was knotted and some meters of yarn in that color missing. Maybe one should not take cheap sockwool from Lidl to knit identical twins…
HäkelhexagonUnd natürlich gibt es auch einen Blick auf die Granny Decke. Leider wurde klar, daß ich auf alle Fälle noch mal Hexagons in der mittleren Farbestellung nachhäkeln muß. Inzwischen habe ich neun, von 40. (Vorerst. Ich will nicht garantieren, daß das nicht noch mal nötig ist.)

Not missing the crochet plaid. It became clear that I will need more hexagons. So I have now nine of 40. (At least 40. I will not guarantee that those are the last ones.)
