Lacy remnants for the neck

gestrickter HalsschmuckIn meiner Oktoberübersicht habt ihr sie ja schon gesehen, die leichte Halskette. Jetzt ist sie endlich fertig.

In my flash overview from october you’d already seen it, the little necklace. Now I’ve finally finished it.


Die Anleitung ist „Clover Lace Choker“ von Crystal Guistinello, die ich auf ravelry gefunden habe. Da mein Garn („Dream“ von Tahki Yarns) dicker ist und ich keine Maschenprobe gemacht habe ist es bei mir kein Choker sondern eher eine Kette geworden. Die mir aber auch gut gefällt. (Nur dummerweise zu nichts paßt, was ich habe. Also mal sehen, wo die am Ende landet. 😉 )

The pattern is „Clover Lace Choker“ by Crystal Guistinello and I found it on ravelry. Since my yarn („Dream“ by Tahki Yarns) is thicker than what the pattern prescribes and I did not make a gauge swatch I ended up with a necklace instead of a choker. But I like it anyhow. (Stupidly it doesn’t fit any of my clothes… so let’s see where it will end. 😉 )

Flash Overview…

Es gibt ja eine Sache, die  in meinem Blog fehlt und das ist Aktualität. Bis ich meine Sachen endlich mal photographiert und gebloggt habe, sind sie ja schon fast wieder aufgetragen. (Okay, nicht ganz so schlimm… )

There is one thing, my blog is lacking and that is the up to date-ness. Until I have my stuff photographed and blogged, they are nearly outworn. (Okay, not that bad…)

Also gibt es jetzt ab und zu mal einen wirklich tagesfrischen Überblick über meine Projekte, die noch nicht fertig sind.

So from now on I’ll give you a fresh overview from ongoing projects, from time to time.

ChokerWir fangen mal mit den Stricksachen an… hier ist ein Halsschmuck, der ein paar Reste aufbrauchen sollte. Der Verschluß muß noch installiert werden.

Let’s start with knitting… here is a neckpiece which was supposed to use some remnants. The closure hasn’t been installed yet.

HitchhikerDann stricke ich gerade etwas, was inzwischen wohl schon jeder gestrickt hat: Einen Hitchhiker. Nur echt mit 42 Zacken. Hier muß noch vernäht werden.

Then I am knitting something that probably everybody else has knitted so far: A Hichtchhiker. Only real with 42 triangles. Here I need to weave in the ends.

SockeDa Weihnachten naht sind natürlich auch wieder Socken auf der Nadel. Frisch angefangen, aber bis zum Heiligen Abend ist ja noch etwas Zeit.

As Christmas is approaching I have some socks on my needles. Just started, but there is quite a lot of time until Holy Night.

GranniesNatürlich habe ich auch weiter gehäkelt. Meine Grannies sind ja aus der ersten Tasche herausgewachsen, es sind inzwischen 262 Hexagons. Hier sind die, die in der zweiten Tasche ihre Platz finden werden.

Of course I did not stop crocheting. My Grannies have outgrown their first bag, now there are 262 hexagons. That is, what is collected in the second batch (and bag) now.

BärUnter der Nähmaschine gibt es im Moment nur ein gänzlich undramatisches Projekt. Völlig zweckfreies Nähen, ein kleiner Bär ist dabei zu entstehen.

Sewingwise there is only a completely boring project, completely useless sewing. A little bear is about to be sewn.

Und die spannende Frage ist mal wieder: Interessiert das irgendwen? :o)

And the thrilling question is: Does anybody want to read that? :o)

 

Drunken Surfer

Nachdem mir das Stricken von Stitch Surfer so viel Spaß gemacht hatte, wollte ich das natürlich wiederholen.

Since I had a lot of fun when knitting Stitch Surfer I wanted to repeat the pleasure.

Aber natürlich nicht identisch, das wäre mir zu langweilig.

But not identically, that would have been to boring.

Also habe ich die Anleitung etwas modifiziert: Ich habe statt vier Reihen „stop surfing“ nur zwei gestrickt, was die Richtungswechsel etwas steiler macht und ich habe einfach jeden (Strick)Tag die Richtung gewechselt. Außerdem habe ich meine übliche Ferse gestrickt und den Schaft kürzer, wie ich es eben sonst auch mache.

So I modified the instructions: Instead of four rows „stop surfing“ I only made two, to get more pronounced direction changes. And instead of following a pattern I simply changed direction every (knitting) day. And I used my „usual“ heel and generally my „usual“ sock receipe.

Das Ergebnis ist also asymmetrisch und unregelmäßig und daher „Drunken Surfer“, also betrunkener Surfer. Daß es mir gefällt muß ich wohl nicht erwähnen. 😉

So my result is asymmetrical and irregular, so I called it „Drunken Surfer“. And of course I like it myself, but I guess I don’t have to tell this? 😉

Als Garne habe ich Reste verwendet, dazu eignet sich das Muster auch gut. (Reste ohne Ringel…) Die rote Wolle ist ein namenloses Knäuel von Opal, das ich für meine originalen Stitch Surfer verwendet hatte. Das graue Garn ist ein Rest von einer meiner Verschenkesocken und kommt von Schewe, Socks’Wool „uni“.

The pattern was a great possibility to use restover yarns without knitting stripes. The red one is the unnamed sock yarn from Opal I had also used for the original Stitch Surfer.And the grey one comes from Schewe and I had previously used it for my Charity socks.

Summer is coming? – I don’t care!

MützeDicke Wollmützen sind ja kein sommerliches Strickthema, aber ich will endlich die Resteknäuel von meinem Schreibtisch weg bekommen. Und so wie das Wetter im Moment ist, paßt das ja…

Thick woolen hats are not the best knitting theme for summer, but I want to get rid of all those remnantes who are sitting on my desk. And if I look on the weather now… thick hats are maybe not so bad.

Das Reggae Ombre von Schoppel Wolle mit seinem langen Farbverlauf ist ideal, um wieder eine Slip On Down Mütze zu stricken. Mal sehen was aus ihr wird, denn meine erste Variante fand beim eisigen Osterspaziergang im Zoo eine Freundin und wurde auch gleich mitgenommen… 😉

Reggae Ombre by Schoppel Wolle with its long color runs is perfect for another Slip On Down Hat. Let’s see what will happen to it.  My first version found a friend for our icy Easter Parade  at the zoo and never came back… 😉

Scrap of Yarn + Beads = Bracelet

gestricktes ArmbandNach den Weihnachtsbäumchen war von dem weichen braunen Garn immer noch was übrig. Ungefähr 25 Meter, was die Möglichkeiten etwas einschränkt.

After knitting the christmas trees there was still around 25 meters of the soft, brown yarn left. Which makes it not easy, to find a pattern.

Doch das Stash Busting Bracelet von Jen Zeyen auf Ravelry paßte perfekt. Ich habe mich für kubische Glasperlen entschieden, die geben dem Armband etwas Gewicht und den Formkontrast mag ich.

But the Stash Busting Bracelet by Jen Zeyen on ravelry was the perfect fit. I decided to use cubic glass beads for the pattern. The give the bracelet some weight and I like the contrasting shape of the cubic beads against the soft honeycomb pattern.

Jetzt sind noch etwa sechs Meter übrig… was wird das wohl mal wieder werde…. ? 😉

Now there are about six meters left… guess what that will become again…? 😉

Subdued bling-tree

Ja, es war noch ein Rest übrig… 😉 Im Vergleich zu den anderen Strickbäumen ist dieser hier aber wirklich dezent. Ich habe beim Stricken einen Faden des Alterfil Metallicstickgarns in Gold mitlaufen lassen. Das sorgt für etwas Glitzer (der auf dem Bild leider kaum rüber kommt), bleibt aber doch eher diskret.

Compared with the other knitted christmas trees this one is really a subdued version. I’ve added golden machine embroidery yarn from Alterfil while knitting and it gives a little glam (more than the picture shows) but in a discrete way.

Damit ist das grüne Garn dann aufgebraucht und ich muß euch nicht mehr mit obskuren Strickwerken langweilen.

Now finally the green yarn has been used up and I don’t have to bore you with more weird knitting.

Bling-Bling Tree, number three

WeihnachtsbaumNach diesem und diesem ist hier Nummer drei. Mit besonders viel Bling durch die goldenen Pailletten.

After this and that here comes number three. With a lot of bling and sequins.

(Ich hatte mir versprochen, daß es durch die großen Pailletten schneller gehen würde, aber da die alle mit je einem Rocaille befestigt werden war das ein absoluter Trugschluß…)

(I had thought the big sequins would make decorating way faster. But since they are each attached with a seed bead I could not have been more wrong….)

Happy Pop-mas goes on

After this completely useless project there was still yarn left. So knitted christmas tree number two.

Diesmal in etwas „popigeren“ Farben mit viel pink dekoriert. (Ich wußte gar nicht, daß ich so viele Perlen in Rosatönen habe…)

This time with a more „pop“ decoration with shades of pink. (I didn’t even know I had so many beads in pink or rose shades.)

Red an blue is Punch’s wife…

So sagt man zumindest bei uns. Aber bei mir wurden es Socken.

I am not sure, how to translate that, but that is a common phrase where I come from and means that wearing strong colors together is not suitable for „decent“ people. (Probably from times before color blocking got into fashion) But I didn’t care and it became socks.

Socken Als ich das Muster Stitch Surfer in der Knitty gesehen habe war sofort klar, daß ich das umsetzen muß. Ich hatte eh schon länger überlegt, mal längst gestreifte Socken zu machen und die Anleitung von Louise Robert sparte mir das selber denken…

When I saw the pattern Stitch Surfer on Knitty I knew instantly that I had to do those. Lenghtwise striped socks had been on my mind anyhow and the pattern by Louise Robert saved me the time for figuering out myself. Lazy me…

Schade nur, daß ich inzwischen meine ungeliebten ringelnden Sockenwollen weitgehend verbraucht habe, so wären ja sogar Ringel erträglich zu stricken.

SockenIt’s only I pity that I’ve already used  up all those boring self-stripeing sock yarns. Because with this pattern even those can become something attractive.

Das rote Garn ist von Opal, da es weiter keinen Namen hat stammt es (so habe ich mir sagen lassen) vermutlich aus einem Abo. Ich habe es mal irgendwo ertauscht. Das dunkelblaue ist mir billig zugelaufen, vermutlich bei Karstadt und ist von Schewe, „Socks’Wool „uni“ “

The read yarn is from Opal and came to me via a swatch. It carries no further name or type, so it might come from an abonement. I was told that this would be typical for those yarns. The navy one was probably cheap and that was why I’d purchased it. Probably at Karstadt. It’s „Socks’Wool „uni“ “ by Schewe.

SockenDas Stricken war, wenn man das Grundprinzip mal verstanden hat, eigentlich nicht schwierig. Die Socken werden von der Spitze an hoch gestrickt. Die Ferse wird anders konstruiert als ich das gewöhnt bin und der Schaft ist etwas länger als ich das normalerweise mache. Deswegen wird er nach oben auch etwas eng, ich habe nun mal dicke Waden. Da hilft die besonders dehnbare Art des Abkettens auch nicht. Die rüscht nur, wenn man die Socke nicht an hat.

Knitting was not too difficult once I had understood the basic principle. The socks are knit toe up, the heel is differently constructed from what I’m used to and the leg is longer than I usually do it. That is why it’s a bit tight on top. I have thick calves, so even the special super stretchy bind off doesn’t help. I don’t like that bind off too much, it looks like ruffles if the socks are not worn. And I do not have problems with too tight bind offs anyhow.

Im Ganzen gefallen mir die Socken aber rundum gut und ich habe schon die nächsten angeschlagen. Da werde ich das Muster etwas abwandeln und Spitze, Ferse und Schaft so stricken, wie ich das immer mache.

But as you can see I like my socks from all views. And I’ve already cast on the next pair. This time I will make a variation of the pattern and will use my usual toe, heel and leg/cuff.

262 Days Until Christmas

Ich hatte meinem Bruder ja zu Weihnachten diese Mütze geschenkt. Die Garnreste lagen dann auf meinem Schreibtisch und riefen mir irgendwann zu, was sie werden wollten. Nur hatte ich vor Weihnachten keine Zeit, es umzusetzen.

I’d knitted this hat for my brother for Christmas.Then the remnants of the yarn sat on my desk and soon they told me what they wanted to become. Only I didn’t have time to do so before Christmas.

But now I’d wanted to have the yarn off my desk and so I grabbed the needles.

Genau, ein Weihnachtsbaum. Und Ostern hin oder her… das Wetter paßt ja noch.

Yes, a Christmas tree. And Easter or not… the weather still fits fine for the tree.

Der Baum selber ist gestrickt, dann zusammengenäht und mit Füllwatte gestopft. Der Stamm gehäkelt und dann angenäht. Nur wollte der unten nicht flach bleiben. Na gut… Danach habe ich noch in meinen Rocailles gewühlt und den Baum glitzernd bestickt.

gestrickter BaumThe tree is knitted, then both parts sewn together and stuffed. The trunc is crocheted and sewn on. It doesn’t want to stay flat at the bottom… Well, can’t help it. Then I grabbed my beads and started to decorate my tree.

Das Garn ist „Sportwool“ von Filatura die Crosa und „Zenitz“ von di.Vé. Die Perlen habe ich mit AlterfilS120 aufgenäht. Das nehme ich dafür sehr gerne, weil es dünn und reißfest ist und zudem in sehr viele Farben zu haben ist. Hier hatte ich tatsächlich eine, die exakt zur Farbe der Wolle paßte. (Man sollte nur nicht versuchen, irgendwelche Stiche wieder aufzutrennen…)

The yarn is „Sportwool“ by Filatura di Crosa and „Zenith“ by di.Vé. To sew on the beads I used AlterfilS 120. I like it a lot for beading, because it is fine, stabile and it exists in many colors. Here I had one that really matches exactely the color of the wool. (Only you shouldn’t try to unpick stitches…)
