Statistics 2017

Auch zu diesem Jahresbeginn wieder ein Rückblick auf die Produktivität des Vorjahres. Wie immer werden die Sachen gezählt, die ich 2017 hier im Blog gezeigt habe.

As for the beginning of every year… looking back on what I made in 2017. Like usual I will only count things I have shown here in 2017.

Genäht habe ich unglaubliche 38 Teile. Was alllerdings schnell weniger beeindruckend wirkt, wenn man sich dran erinnert das zehn davon Waschlappen waren und 16 kleine Boxen für Kekse. Daher kamen auch für 29 Teile die Anleitung von mir, fünf aus Burdaheften (immer noch Barbie), zwei aus Büchern (Aranzi Aronzo), einer aus einem ottobre Heft und ein Shirt ist aus einer Burda Anleitung und einem Hot Pattern Schnitt zusammengebastelt. – Und ich habe für mein Gefühl unglaublich viel gestopft und repariert.

I’ve sewn the incredible number of 38 pieces. Which is no longer that impressive when you remember that 10 of those were washcloths and 16 were little boxes for cookie giveaways. So for 29 items the pattern was my own doing, five from burda mag (Barbie again), two from a book (Aranzi Aronzo), one from ottobre magazine and one was a mix of a Burda pattern and a Hot Pattern pattern.- And it feels as if I did a whole lot repair and darning jobs.

Gestrickt und gehäkelt waren es diesmal 12 Teile, vor allem Socken. Sieben waren nach eigener Anleitung (inklusive Socken nach meiner eigenen Standardanleitung), vier Modelle kamen aus Büchern und eine Anleitung hatte ich über Ravelry gefunden.

Knitted of crocheted were 12 items, mostly socks. Seven pattern were my own (including my own sock pattern), four patterns came from books and one pattern I’d found via Ravelry.

Das letzte abgeschlossene Nähwerk im letzten Jahr waren die Keksboxen, das letzte Kleidungsstück der Schlafanzug. Beim Stricken habe ich am 16. Dezember Handstulpen beendet, die waren aber noch nicht im Blog.

The last sewing project I’ve finished in 2017 were the boxes for the cookies, the last finished garment those pyjamas. Knitting I’ve finished a pair of fingerless mitts on 12/16, but I haven’t shown them here yet.

Zeit um eigene Anleitungen aufzuschreiben hatte ich immer noch nicht, bei Ravelry ist der 1-2-3-5-Beanie immer noch die am häufigsten nachgearbeitete Anleitung. Was mit 51 Modellen jetzt nicht so viel zu bedeuten hat. Die meisten Herzchen haben immer noch die Hackensocke (1358), nicht sehr beeindruckend, aber ich habe die Anleitungen eh für mich aufgeschrieben, daher ist es ein erfreulicher Nebeneffekt, wenn ein paar andere auch davon profitieren.

Again I did not have time to write down my own pattern, but on Ravelry the is still t1-2-3-5-Beanie he pattern that has been used the most. Well, 51 is not that impressive. And most favorited also again Heels for flats (1358)… again not ground breaking. But in the end I am writing down my patterns for myself, so it’s a nice side effect if some others do profit also.

Und 2018? Ich habe tatsächlich eine Hose zugeschnitten und auf den Stricknadeln sind Socken, auch für mich. 🙂

And 2018? I did cut fabric for pants for myself and on my knitting needles are socks, also for myself. 🙂

Pre-Christmas overview: December 2017

Utensilos für KekseDas Nähen steht nicht überraschend im Zeichen von Weihnachten. Die Kekse die ich so an Kollegen und so verschenke gibt es dieses Jahr in kleinen Utensilos. Davon habe ich vier fertig, elf sind noch zu machen und von den vier fertiggestellten gehen drei morgen schon wieder weg. Wie ich das mit den restlichen rechtzeitig schaffen soll weiß ich noch nicht so recht, denn ich brauche die natürlich nicht erst an Weihnachten, sondern schon vorher…

My sewing is Christmas-related which is probably not a big surprise. I usually give some home made cookies to colleagues and friends and this year they will be arranged in little sewn boxes. Four are done, eleven more to go and I do not really know how to make that in time. Three of the finished ones will be gone by tomorrow and the rest well not be needed on Christmas day but before….

Immerhin habe ich es geschafft, mal eine Näherei zu finden, bei der ich einen Teil meiner Jerseyreste verwenden kann. Der Boden ist mit Bosal In-R-Form verstärkt, die Seiten stehen von selber.

At least I managed to create a project where I can use a part of my knit and jersey remnants. The bottom of the boxes is interfaced with Bosal I-R-Form, the sides keep up by themselves.

handgewickeltes GarnknäuelDie Weihnachtssocken für meinen Bruder sind schon fertig, die letzten Obdachlosensocken auch. Das nächste Projekt sollen mal wieder Stulpen werden, hier habe ich immerhin das Garn (AslanTrends “DEL CERRO”) gewickelt und passende Stricknadeln gesucht. Das war es dann aber auch.

The Christmas socks for my youngest brother are already finished, also all socks I did for the socks for the homeless campaign. The next project will be fingerless mitts. The yarn (“DEL CERRO” by AslanTrends) came in a hank, now it’s a ball. But that’s all I did so far.

BücherNicht viel besser sieht es auf meinem Nachttisch aus… Herr von Hirschhausen hat bisher kein Glück, ich schaffe Zeitschriften zu lesen, das Buch kommt irgendwie nie dran, bis die nächsten Zeitschrift geliefert ist. Dafür gibt es auch wieder Rezensionsexemplare… hier ein neues Lehrwerk zum Thema Makramee. Die Modelle sind sehr anders, als ich das mal gelernt habe. Also interesssant.

Books on my nightstand do not do better… I did not get even one page further on the book, because I hardly manage to read the magazines. And once I am finished usually the next magazine is already there. But I got new craft books for a review on the  Hobbyschneiderin24 Website. This one is about Makremee. The projects have quite a different style from what I learned in the early 1980s, so it’s interesting.

Schultertuch Schon als ich die Anleitung für In the Pink das erste Mal sah war klar, daß ich das Tuch stricken muß. Und zwar wegen der Konstruktion. (Was etwas blöd ist, weil ich eigentlich lieber rechteckige Tüchter trage…) Man fängt in der Mitte an, strickt dann die beiden Seitenflügel, fügt das zusammen und füllt die “Löcher” dazwischen auf und am Ende strickt man quer den Rand. Und ich wollte ein Garn mit langem Farbeverlauf dafür, um die Konstruktionsreihenfolge zur Geltung zu bringen.

When I saw the instructions for In the Pink for the first time I knew I had to knit it. Because of the way it is constructed. (Kind of stupid because I normally prefer to use rectangular shawls…) You start with the middle, then you knit the wings separately put it together and fill the “holes” in between and then you knit the border as a knit on border. And I wanted a yarn with a long color run to show the construction.

Lochmuster Wann ich die Anleitung gesehen habe kann ich nicht recht sagen, aber bei Ravelry steht sie seit 2008. Was ich hingegen erst mal nicht fand war ein Garn mit wirklich langem Farbverlauf. Ich gebe aber zu, eilig hatte ich es nicht, weil eh klar war, daß das ein Projekt wird, das eher fürs Sofa als für mein übliches Unterwegsstricken geeignet ist. Aber 2015 bot sich bei einem Tausch “Lace 4fädig” von 100Farbenspiele in Blautönen an. Und als ich dieses Jahr etwas für meinen Urlaub suchte, war das Tuch endlich dran. 🙂

I can’t say when I spotted the pattern for the first time but it’s on Ravelry since 2008. What I did not spot was a yarn with a really long color run. I was not in a hurry since it was clear it would be a pattern that’s better knitted on the sofa and not in trains where most of my knitting happens. But in 2015 I could swap the yarn “Lace 4fädig” by 100Farbenspiele in shades of blue. And when I was thinking what to knit in my holidays this year that was finally my choice, 🙂

Das Stricken ging dann erstaunlich schnell, weil das Muster letztlich doch deutlich weniger kompliziert ist als meine üblichen Lace Muster. Allerdings geht die Anleitung an der einen oder anderen stelle nicht ganz auf, was nicht nur beim Stricken so ist, sondern auch beim Lesen schon auffällt. Man hört z.B. nicht mit der gleichen Maschenzahl auf, wie man hinterher weiter strickt. Das kann man zum Glück relativ leicht “auf Sicht” ausgleichen, aber ich war sehr überrascht, daß ich bei den vielen Projekten und auch im KnitAlong Thread dazu nur jubelnde Beiträge las, aber niemand einen Fehler berichtete. (Zum Glück fand ich dann doch noch zumindest eine Strickerin, die in ihrem Projektnotizen das auch beschrieben hatte…) Es ist ja schon, daß niemand kostenlose Muster in die Pfanne hauen will, aber hilfreich ist das so auch nicht…

Lochmuster DetailKnitting went surprisingly fast, because the pattern as a whole is way less complicated than the lace patterns I am used to. But the pattern does not match at some spots. Which is even clear from reading the patter, for example when you do not stop with the same number of stitches you are supposed to pick up later. It was not so complicated to correct that “by sight” but I was quite surprised that amongst all those praising project notes and also in the KAL thread nobody mentioned it. (Luckily I finally found some honest project notes from a knitter who had found the same mistakes.) I understand that one is reluctant to criticize a free pattern, but in the end that is not helpful. Neither to other knitters nor to the designer who has no chance to correct the pattern.

Im Nachhinein hätte der Farbverlauf dann doch etwas kürzer sein können… Und etwas besser geplant, denn zuerst ging es mit unglaublich sanften, kaum wahrnehmbaren, Verläufen los, dann kam ein sichtbarer Sprung und gegen Ende wurde es dann auf einmal deutlich dunkler. Und ich habe noch eine Menge übrig, da ist vermutlich noch mal ein Übergang drin. Ach ja, spannen war bei der Form auch etwas schwierig… 😛

After finishing I’d say the color runs could have been a bit shorter… And better planned. Because it started with extremely soft, hardly visible changes but then there came a visible “jump” in color and then the change to the darker tones is quite sudden. And I have quite some left. I think there is one more change of color hidden. BTW… blocking was not easy with that shape… 😛

Trotzdem gefällt mir das Ergebnis sehr gut und ich habe das Tuch überraschenderweise schon einige Male getragen. Es schmiegt sich durch die Form gut an den Körper an und man kann es so auch gut unter eine Jacke tragen. Und verliert es nicht sofort, wenn man sich bewegt.

Still I like the result a lot and I wore it already several times. Due to the rounded shape it lays well on the body and so I can wear it well under a jacket. And I can move without loosing it all the time.

Tiny but up to date: October 2017

Da ich im nach wie vor wenig Zeit habe (und außerdem die letzten zwei Monate mehr oder weniger aus dem Koffer gelebt habe…) ist der Überblick diesmal extrem übersichtlich.

Since I am still short of time (and used my suitcase so often that it started feeling like a kind of a permanent body attachment) the overview is extremely small.

Stricksocken in grünStrickprojekt sind mein inzwischen sechstes Paar Obdachlosensocken. Eigentlich sollte es langweilig glatt rechts werden, aber auf der Ferse wurde es dann doch ein Streifen Perlmuster. Garn ist Regia “Natural look” aus einem Tausch. Auf dem Bild sah es naturweiß aus, als es ankam, war es grün. Nicht meine Farbe, also werden es Spendensocken.

My knitting project are my sixth pair of socks for the homeless. I intended plain vanilla stockinette, but then on the heel I made a strip of seed stitch. Yarn is “Natural look” by Regia from a swap. It had looked like a natural off white on the pic but when it arrived it was green. Not my color, so it will become socks for charity.

zugeschnittenes Kleid für BarbieNähtechnisch schon wieder oder immer noch im Miniaturformat… Ein schlichtes Kleid für Barbie, diesmal aus den Seitenteilen des Rocks den ich im August gezeigt hatte. Immerhin zugeschnitten.

Sewingwise I am still or again doing small… a simple barbie dress, this time the fabric is from the side panels of the skirt I had shown in August. At least cutting is done.

Und auf dem Nachttisch liegt zur Zeit kein Nähbuch, ich bin tatsächlich mal mit allen Anschaffungen durch. Stattdessen leichte Lektüre. Glaube ich zumindest, denn ich bin ungefähr bei Seite 23. Und es ist sicher sechs Wochen her, daß ich das letzte Mal drin gelesen habe. Irgendwie werde ich mit Zeitschriften überschwemmt, so daß die Bücher nur wenig Chance haben.

The book from my night stand. Probably not interesting to anyone, because I do not think there are translations. But I have no unread craft books at the moment. Which does not help me reading other books faster. Because here I am about page 23 and the last time I picked it up was probably six weeks ago. I somehow get swamped with magazines that books don’t get much of a chance these days.

Unusual Lace

Lochmuster aus grauem Jakob SchafDaß Spitzenmuster nicht mehr mit superfeinen Nadeln gestrickt werden, daran haben wir uns gewöhnt. Die dickeren Nadeln ergeben ja eine spezielle Optik. Aber das Garn ist in der Regel fein und weich.

We got used to it that lace pattern are no longer knitted with super fine needles. The thick needles give a special and attractive look. But usually the yarn is soft and fine.

graue Lace StolaAls ich das Muster “A Knitted Veil in Pyrenees Wool” in “Victorian Lace Today” sah fand ich, daß es irgendwie eine rustikale Optik hat. Und wollte ein natürliches Garn. Basiston grau, aber unregelmäßig und eben nicht grau gefärbt, denn das sieht anders aus. Ich suchte lang und fand nichts.

When I saw the pattern “A Knitted Veil in Pyrenees Wool” in “Victorian Lace Today” I thought it had a kind of rustique look. And it called for a natural yarn. I wanted grey, but irregular, not regularily dyed. I searched for quite some time but didn’t find anything that was even close. 

Geholfen hat mir dann mal wieder Angelika, die in ihrer “Spinn”Webe!” Werkstatt Wolle spinnt und auch verkauft. Sie hat auf meinen speziellen Wunsch hin ein Fleece Jakob Schaf mit grau und fast keinem braun besorgt, hat das so fein wie möglich ausgesponnen (das ist nicht so fein wie die typischen Lace Garne, weil die Fasern kürzer sind) und gezwirnt. Was ein herrlich lebendiges Garn ergab, das ich dann mit 3,75 mm Nadel verstrickt habe.

Who helped me was again Angelika who is spinning wool in her atelier “Spinn!Webe!” and also sells it. She suggested Jacob Sheep and was able to organize a fleece in grey with hardly any brown. She spun it as fine as possible (which is not as fine as typical lace yarn because the fibers are not that long) and plyed it. Which makes a very lively yarn which I’ve knitted with 3.75 mm needles.

Das Ergebnis gefällt mir gut und ist ganz faszinierend. Natürlich ist die Stola nicht sehr weich, sondern etwas kratzig. Um sie auf einen Pulli oder Mantel zu tragen ist das aber in Ordnung. Und die Optik ist wirklich natürlich und rustikal. Was für mich perfekt zum Muster passt, denn es ist auch ein relativ “grobes” Lace Muster, auf einem kraus rechts Grund und mit nicht gespiegelten Musterteilen. Die Stola hat Substanz ist zunächst auch gefaltet sehr dick. – Läßt sich aber (z.B. im Koffer) unglaublich verdichten. Das Garn muß sehr viel Luft enthalten. (Klar, das Jakob Schaf ist etwas gelockt und das kam beim Wässern nach dem Spinnen zum Teil wieder.) Das verspricht Wärme. 🙂

I  love the result and it is very fascinating. Of course the stole is not very soft but more scratchy. Which is fine to wear over a sweater or a jacket. And the look is very natural and rustic. For me the perfect match for the pattern which is also kind of “rustique”: The base is garter stitch and the increases and decreases are not mirrored. The shawl has body and folded it is quite thick. – But when for example put in a suitcase it can be pressed very flat. The yarn must contain a lot of air. (Okay, Jacob Sheep is a bit curly and that came partially back when I relaxed the yarn after spinning.) Should by quite warm 🙂

Ich bin sehr glücklich mit dem Projekt. Nach vielen Jahren des Lace Strickens etwas, was doch wieder ganz anders als meine anderen Stolen ist.

I am very happy with the project. After many years of lace knitting something, that is completely different from all my other shawls.

Sattel warm, Hintern sauber

Saddle has it warm, ass remains clean

gehäkelter SattelbezugMein Brooks Leder Sattel ist ganz toll, um darauf zu fahren. Er hat nur einen Nachteil: Er färbt ab. Braun. Im Winter ist das nicht ganz so problematisch, zum einen färbt es ohne Schweiß weniger, zum anderen sieht man es auf dunklen Hosen nicht so.

My Brooks leather saddle is great for riding my bike. But there is one disadvantage: It stains. Brown. In winter it’s not so problematic, because with less sweat it stains less and also on dark jeans, pants, trousers,… it does not show that much.

gehäkelter Bezug für FahradsattelIm Sommer hingegen… braune Flecken am Po einer hellen Hose? Na nicht so gut.

In summer on the other side… brown stains on the “derrière” of white or beige pants? Not so good.

Deswegen habe ich mir schon vor Jahren vorgenommen, einen Sattelbezug zu machen. Und so habe ich mir kürzlich endlich ein Garn geschnappt und losgehäkelt.

And so I recently took some yarn from my stash and finally started crocheting.

Das Garn ist “Cotton Club” von Cascade Yarns, das ich vor einigen Jahren in der Web’s Grab Bag aus den USA bestellt hatte. Es ist ein recht “loftiges” Baumwollgarn, dessen einzelne Fäden aber gut verzwirnt sind. Gehäkelt habe ich es mit einer 5mm Häkelnadel.

Gummizug im SatelbezugThe yarn is “Cotton Club” by Cascade Yarns which I got from the Web’s Grab Bag I had ordered in the US a few years ago. It’s rather “lofty”, but the threads it’s plyed from seem quite densly twisted. I used a 5mm crochet hook.

Die Anleitung ist von Sabine Eggert aus dem Buch “Ein Knäuel Ideen häkeln” vom Top Verlag, das aber inzwischen vergriffen ist. Die Anleitung braucht viel mehr Garn, allerdings wird da mit dem Garn auch noch eine “Wiese” in den Sattel geknüpft. Die wollte ich nicht, daher kam ich mit dem Knäuel, das ich hatte auch gut aus.

The instructions are from Sabine Eggert, I took them from the German book Ein Knäuel Ideen häkeln” by Top Verlag (OOP). The pattern calls for about twice the yarn I had, but they also have you rug a lot of threads into the saddle cover to imitate grass. I wanted it purely functional, so I did not do that and one skein was enough.

In dem Buch bekommt jeden Anleitung nur eine Seite und das merkt man auch. Man kann der Häkelschrift gut folgen, aber es wird zwar das Symbol erklärt, bei dem man aus einer Masche zwei häkeln soll, das andere Symbol für den “Rückweg” (also zwei Maschen gemeinsam abmaschen – zumindest habe ich das so gemacht) wird nicht erklärt. Anfänger könnten daran scheitern. Auch bleibt unklar, ob man durch beide Maschenglieder einstechen soll oder nur durch eines. (Auf dem Bild kann man das auch nicht erkennen, da ist ja die “Wiese” drüber.)

Zusatzbefestigung SattelbezugThe book allows only one page per pattern and that shows. You can follow the charts, but they only explain the symbol for “making two stitches into one”. That you need to do the contrary for another unexplained symbol you have to figure out yourself. Not a real problem for an experienced crocheter, but  a beginner might have a problem with that. What I missed were instructions if you are supposed to work your stitches only in one “loop” or in both.

Ich habe mich dafür entschieden, in beide Maschenglieder einzustechen. Ich wollte ja was Dichtes. Lochreihen waren eigentlich fünf oder sechs vorgesehen, aber nach zweien ging mir das Garn aus und man sieht, daß es auch groß genug ist.

I decided to work through both loops because I wanted something rather dense. There should have been five or six ajour rows all around, I had only yarn for two which is the right size for my saddle anyhow.

Als Abschluss habe ich keine Luftmaschenkette genommen, sondern einfach festen 5mm breiten Gummi eingezogen. Im vorderen Bereich gibt es noch quer eine kleine Gummischlaufe, die verhindert, daß der Bezug beim Fahren ganz nach hinten gezogen wird.

Instead of crocheting a chain to attach the cover I pulled a strong 5mm large elastic through the holes. On the front part there is another tiny loof across to prevent the cover from riding too much backward.

Gehäkelt war das am Ende in zwei Abenden auf dem Sofa und der Bezug funktioniert. Der Sommer ist zwar mehr oder weniger vorbei, aber der nächste kommt bestimmt. Außerdem habe ich auch ein paar helle Hosen für den Herbst…

Crocheting was done after two slow evenings on my sofa and the cover does its job. Summer is mostly over, but there will hopefully another one. Also I have some pants for autumn in light beige….

Fresh from the needles August 2017

Und schon wieder habe ich kein Nähprojekt, denn ich habe in den letzten zwei Monaten offensichtlich zwei Nähprojekte fertig genäht. Das letzte allerdings unter Druck, da war eine Feier…

And again I have no unfinished sewing project, because evidently in the last two months I finished two sewing projects. The last one under a certain pressure, there was a birthday…

weißer rock mit goldenen Blumen, Bild FischerDeswegen gibt es ausnahmsweise mal ein Bild von einem fertigen Projekt. Den Stoff mit den Goldblüten hatte ich von Malhia Kent mitgenommen. Ja, im Juli erst. 😮 Da er nicht breit genug war, habe ich an der Seite Einsätze aus einem Feinstrick gemacht. So habe ich einen schicken Rock für die letzte und die nächsten Familienfeiern und bequem ist er auch. Mit Gummizug.

So this time a pic of a finished project. The fabric with the golden flowers I picked from the sales at Malhia Kent. Yes, that was July this year. 😮 Since it was not large enough I made insents from a knit fabric. Now I have a chique skirt for the last and the next family events. Which is comfortable, no zip, just elastic at the waist.

SockenBei den Socken bin ich auch ein Paar weiter. Wieder für die Weihnachtsaktion für Obdachlose in Köln. Eine langweilige Standardsocke in selbstmusterndem Garn. Crelando “Anika” von Lidl.

Socks are on my needles an I have started the next pair. Again for the Christmas party for the homeless in Cologne. Boring standard sock in selfstripeing yarn, Crelando “Anika”, purchased at Lidl.

Stricktuch in blauMein Lacetuch aus dem Jakob Schaf wurde kurz nach dem Urlaub fertig, im Urlaub habe ich aber schon das spannende Lacetuch In the Pink angefangen. Man strickt Mittelteil und Seitenteile getrennt, dann erst wird zusammengefügt. Man sieht, so weit bin ich schon gekommen, daß es ein Teil ist.

My lace shawl from Jacob sheep was not finished before my holiday and meanwhile it is. While being on holiday I start the thrilling to knit In the Pink lace shawl. You knit middle part and two sides separately and then connect the pieces and go on. You see that I already connected the pieces.

Das Garn ist ein Farbverlaufsgarn, “Lace 4fädig” von 100 Farbenspiele. Für gefachtes Garn funktioniert das trotz lustiger Dinge wie links verschränkt zusammenstricken ganz gut.

The yarn changes the color from light blue to dark blue and is “Lace 4fädig” by 100 Farbespiele. It’s a yarn without twist, so it was not easy to knit stuff like “ptogtbl”, but all in all it works fine.

Bezug für Fahrradsattel gehäkeltDann habe ich gerade heute noch ein schnelles (hoffentlich) Projekt begonnen. Mein Fahrradsattel aus Leder färbt nämlich leider ab, daher häkle ich jetzt einen Bezug.

And then I started a new project today. Hopefully a quick one. My leather bike saddle leaves stains on the clothes, so I am making a cover in crochet.

Die Anleitung dafür habe ich im “1 Knäuel häkeln” Buch gefunden und als Baumwollgarn ein Knäuel “Cotton Club” von Cascade Yarns in einem zarten Grün. Das passt von der Garnstärke her gut. Allerdings kann es sein, daß ich am Ende alles wieder aufribbeln muß. Die Anleitung verbraucht doppelt so viel Garn, allerdings werden da noch viele, viele Fransen eingeknüpft, was ich ja nicht vor habe. Also mal sehen…

The instructions are from the book “1 Knäuel häkeln” and I used “Cotton Club” by Cascade Yarns in a light green. It has the right weight. But it might happen that I have to frog everything. The instructions call for about twice as much yarn than I have. But the instructions also make a zillion of fringes, what I do not plan to do. So we’ll see…

Fresh from the needles June 2017 (A Short Story.)

Auch wenn ich nicht dazu gekommen bin, Photos zu zeigen (oder auch nur welche zu machen), in den letzten zwei Monaten sind einige Projekte fertig geworden. So gibt es im Moment nur wenige laufende Projekte.

I didn’t have to the time to show pictures (or even taking some), but in the last months I could finish several projects. So I have only few running projects at the moment.

FlickwäscheWas das Nähen betrifft, ist große Langeweile angesagt… der Schlafanzug will geflickt werden. (Das ist dann aber auch das letzte Teil des Stapels.)

Sewingwise great boredom. A pyjama needs some meding. (But that is the last piece for now.)

braune SockeDie Obdachlosensocken vom April sind fertig, danach habe ich ein paar niedliche Socken für mich gestrickt. Jetzt sind wieder Herrensocken für unsere Socken für Obdachlose Aktion in Arbeit. Hier habe ich ein braunes Farberlaufsgarn “Aktiv” von Super Garne in Arbeit.

The socks for homeless from April have been finfished and I made a pair of cute summer socks for myself. Now the next pair of men’s socks for our socks for the homeless campaign are on my needles. I am using a variegated sock yarn called “Aktiv” by Super Garne in brown.

grauer Lace SchalMein Lace Schal hat auch gute Fortschritte gemacht. Ich bin mit dem langen Mittelteil fertig und habe mit dem “Endteil” angefangen. Ich will versuchen, vor dem Urlaub damit fertig zu werden, damit ich dann ein neues Projekt mitnehmen kann. Mal sehen, ob das klappt…

Nice progress also with my lace shawl. I finished the long and boring middle part and started the “finishing” stretch. I’ll try to finish it before my holiday, so I can take a fresh project then. Let’s see if that works…

zwei BücherWas auch nicht wirklich vorwärts geht ist meine Nachtlektüre… Zeitschriften ja, bei Büchern reicht die Zeit nur selten. Was schade ist.  Vielleicht finde ich da im Urlaub auch etwas Zeit.

Not much progress readingwise… journals yes, but time for books is quite rare. Which is quite a pity. Maybe here also I’ll have more time in my holidays.

Socks for the homeless 2017/II

Ringelsocken aus WollrestenAuch das zweite Paar Socken für die Spendenaktion ist fertig. Wild geringelt mit einer Tendenz ins beige-braune.

The second pair of socks for your charitiy is finished. Wild stripes with a certain tendency for beige and brown.

Sieben verschiedene Reste habe ich untergebracht, sechs davon sind aufgebraucht. Da ich noch so viele Sockengarne mit Baumwollanteil hatte, habe ich die mit verstrickt. Und versucht, sie mehr in den Schaft zu verlegen, damit der Fußteil wärmer bleibt.

I used seven different remnants and six of them are now used up. Since I had a lot of sock yarn with cotton I used that, too. And tried to use that more for the leg part, so the foot par of the sock will keep warmer.

Jetzt kommt erst mal wieder ein Paar Socken für mich…

Next one will be a pair of socks for me…

Fresh from the needles April 2017

Zugeschnittenes SchweinchenNein, das ist keine Vodoo Puppe, sondern Stoffreste meines Shirts, dessen Fortschritt ich im Februar gezeigt hatte. (Das Shirt ist fertig und seit wenigen Tagen auch photographiert. Kommt also auch noch.) Da der Stoff so schön pink ist, habe ich mir aus dem Aranzi Aronzo Buch die Anleitung für ein Schweinchen rausgesucht.

No, this is not a Vodoo doll, these are remnants from the shirt I’ve shown here as WIP in February. (Meanwhile it’s finished and even photographed since Saturday, so I will show that also in not too long.) Since the fabric is very… pink I picked from my book by Aranzi Aronzo the pattern for a piggy.

SockenSockentechnisch bin ich schon zwei Paar Socken weiter. (Ja, der Flaschenhals ist im Moment das Photographieren.) Ich arbeite schon für unsere diesjährige Weihnachtsaktion für Obdachlose und wie man sieht, gibt es wieder Socken. Das ist mein zweites Paar dafür, am Schaft der zweiten Socke angekommen. Wie man unschwer erkennt, sind es Restesocken.

Sockwise taking the pictures is the bottleneck, because those are already the second pair since February. They are already for the christmas party for the homeless charity this year. I started the leg part of the second sock. As you can easily see it’s socks from the remnants.

MohairpulliMein Strickoberteil ist ein ganze Stück weiter gekommen. Es hat einen Saum und hat zwei Teilärmel. Zuerst habe ich auf der einen Seite bis zur letzten roten Reihe gestrickt. Dann die andere Seite, damit ich nicht zu viel auftrennen muß, falls das rote Garn doch nicht reicht. Dann die andere Seite bis vor die erste braune Reihe. Jetzt habe ich den Rest vom roten Garn gewogen und denke, daß es reichen sollte. Also kann ich jetzt doch den ersten Ärmel fertig stricken und muß kein zusätzliches braunes Knäuel anfangen. Kompliziert, oder?

My knitted top did advance a lot. It has a hem and has two partial sleeves. I did the first sleeve until the last red row. Then I started the other side, so I will not have to back knit too many rows if the red yarn was not enough. Then I knitted the other side up to just before the first brown row. Now I’ve weight the rest of the red yarn and think it should be enought. So next will be to finish the first sleeve and I will not have to start an extra skein of yarn. Kind of complicated, not?

Lace TuchDas Lacetuch ist im vierten Rapport des Mittelteils und ich habe das dritten Knäuel Garn angefangen. Sieht allmählich nach Tuch aus…

My lace shawl is somewhere in the forth main repeat and I’ve started the third skein of my yarn. Starts looking like a shawl…

Zum Abschluss noch ein kleiner Blick auf die aktuelle Lektüre. Beides nicht sehr fortgeschritten. Ein französischer Roman, der fürchte ich kein gutes Ende nehmen wird. Und ein Häkelbuch, das schon ewig drauf wartet, für einen Rezension dran zu kommen. Der Anfang gefällt mir schon mal, es werden nämlich Teshäklerinnen erwähnt. Das gibt doch schon mal zur Hoffnung Anlass, daß man auch mit den Anleitungen was anfangen kann. 🙂

And to finish a short look on my books from the night stand. Both more or less just started. I have a French novel which I think will not have a kind of happy ending. And a book about crochet which has been waiting for quite some time to be reviewed. I like the beginning already, because it mentions test crocheters. That gives me hope for good instructions. 🙂
