Plucking random flowers….

Wir kennen das ja alle. (Denke ich…?) Manchmal rennt man und rennt man und findet nichts. Und ein anderes Mal läuft man gedankenlos durch die Gegend und stolpert quasi drüber.

We all know ist. (I guess…?) Sometimes we are running around like crazy and find nothing. And another time we walk aimlessly and there it is.

Und so ging es mir diesmal in Paris. Unser Lieblingsmetzger hatte noch zu (wir vergessen doch jedesmal, daß er eine recht lange Mittagspause hat) und so spazierten wir die Straße langsam entlang, wo der Buchhändler allmählich dabei war, seinen Stand vor dem Laden wieder zu bestücken. So lagen da die Handarbeitsbücher mal oben drauf und sowohl die Stickvorlagen aus Indien (die Vorlagen in dem Buch haben mit der Abbildung auf dem Buchdeckel wenig gemein) als auch das Buch über Handschuhe (nach einer Preisverhandlung) in meiner Tasche.

And that is what happend to me in Paris this time. One day we attempted to go to our favorite butcher whose shop was still closed. (We always forget how long his lunch time break is.) So we strolled down the street where the shop for antique books was just about to open the the owner started to arrange the books on the stands outside his door. So the books about craft and costumes were not covered by other topics yet and I found a book with embroidery patterns from India (the patterns inside are quite different from the photos on the cover) and a book about the history and use of gloves. (After some negociation about the price.)

Und da schätze ich mich schon glücklich.

Lucky me, I thought.

Doch zwei Tage später kam ich an einem Laden mit ungewöhnlichen und ungewöhnlich schönen Stoffen vorbei… nein, die sehen nicht nur so aus wie Stoffe von Chanel und anderen teuren und sehr teuren Designern und Marken. Diese Firma stellt die Stoffe her. Und verkauft manche davon auch in einem Laden.

But two days later we passed a shop with unusual and unusually beautiful fabrics… not they do not only look as if they were made for Chanel and other famous designers and high class prête-à-porter brands. This company actually makes the fabric for those designers and brands and some of them are available at their Paris shop also.

Und… sie hatten gerade Ballen- und Produktionsreste zum Sonderpreis. 🙂

And they had coupons and remnants from garment production on sale. 🙂

Die Reste haben nicht immer einen graden Anschnitt, aber es waren einige große dabei. Und zwei davon mußten mit. Ich mußte den Stoff direkt aus dem Koffer knipsen, deswegen hat er so viele Knitter… die haben sich aber schon größtenteils wieder ausgehangen.

Those coupons usually have only one straight end, the other one has bigger or smaller parts missing. but a lot of them were still rather large. And two of those had to accompagny me home. I had to take pics directly after getting them out of the luggage, this is why they have so many wrinkles, but most of them are gone by now.

Sind sie nicht einfach…. schön?
