Auch die Geburtstagssocken meines Bruders haben es mit formidabler Verspätung geschafft…

gestrickte Sneaker SockenFür den Geburtstag wieder auf Wunsch kurze Sneaker Socken.

Das Garn ist passenderweise Sockenwolle mit Baumwollanteil von Schachenmayr Regia Cotton aus der Serie “Kolibri Colors”. Ich hatte da mal einige Knäuel gekauft, zwei davon sind inwzischen verstrickt und ich bin jedesmal beeindruckt, wie ausgesprochen häßlich die Farben rauskommen. Auf dem Knäuel sah man das nicht so ausgeprägt. Das Fabmanagement der Kamera zeigt das nicht so gut, aber diese Farben hier wirken im Original einfach durchweg… schmutzig.

Raute aus gekreuzten MaschenDamit das Streifenmuster nicht zu langweilig wird, habe ich noch Rauten aus gekreuzten Maschen auf dem Oberfuß’gearbeitet.

Ansonsten zeigen diese Socken mal wieder, das selbstmusternde Garne ein Rätsel für mich sind und bleiben.

Diesmal fängt die zweite Socke vorne mit einem erkennbaren Versatz im Streifenverlauf an. (Identische Socken versuche ich schon gar nicht mehr, das funktioniert eh nicht.) Überraschenderweise hören dann aber beide gleich auf…. Schon nach wenigen Reihen entwickelt sich das dann alles sehr, sehr ähnlich und etwa nach der ersten halben Raute sind die Muster identisch. (An den Kreuzungsstellen der Maschen kann man das relativ gut sehen.)

Keine Ahnung, warum… ?

Socken mit StrukturmusterDas Muster der Annabella Handschuhe hatte mir ja so gut gefallen, daß ich das auch auf Socken noch mal haben wollte. Und zu der frühlingshaften Farbe finde ich es sehr schön, weil es irgendwie leicht wirkt.

I had loved the Annabella pattern so much that I had to repeat it on socks also. I love how it matches the spring like color, because it seems to be kind of light and airy.

Das Garn ist mal wieder von Schachenmayr, normale vierfädige Regia Sockenwolle in der Sorte “Melange”. Das gab es bei Junghans Wolle in Aachen mal im Sonderangebot. Da kann ich bei guter Sockenwolle ja immer nur schwer widerstehen.

The yarn is rather ordinary Schachenmayr Regia 4ply in “Melange”. I got it on sale at the Junghans outlet in Aachen. I can hardly resist good sock wool brands when they go really cheap.

Vorne beginnt das Muster schon während der Zunahme auf der Spitze und läuft bis zum Bund, hinten hingegen erst etwas oberhalb der Ferse. Das Rippenmuster des Bundes habe ich an die Maschenzahl und die Rippen angepasst.

At the front the pattern already starts before even all stitches of the toe are added and goes up to the cuff. At the back of the leg I’ve started the pattern a bit above the heel. The ribbing of the cuff was made to match the was the stitches arrived at the top of the leg.

Damit das Muster aufgeht, habe ich für den Oberfuß eine Masche weniger angeschlagen als für die Sohle (ungerade Maschenzahl) und dann dafür über der Ferse auf der Rückseite eine Masche zugegeben. Denn die weiteste Stelle ist bei mir nicht am Fuß, sondern an der Wade. Und da hatte ich dann meine übliche Maschenzahl.

To match the stitches of the pattern (uneven number) I’ve cast on one stitch less the normal for the front part. Then above the heel I added one stitch at the back of the leg to get my usual stitch count. I need maximum width not on my foot but somewhere above my ankle. So for the leg part and the cuff I had my usual stitch count.

Socks for the Homeless, Pair VI

SockenDas war mein letztes Paar für unsere Weihnachtsaktion für die Kölner Obdachlosen. Natürlich haben die schon einen neuen Besitzer gefunden, Weihnachten ist ja vorbei. 🙂

This is the last pair of socks I made for the Christmas party for the homeless in Cologne. Of course they found a new owner, Christmas is over. 🙂

Muster auf SockenferseDamit es mir nicht zu langweilig wird, habe ich auf der Ferse ein Permuster gestrickt. Auf dem Bein läuft es dann pfeilförmig aus.

Since I did not want to be to bored I knitted a seed stitch pattern over the heel. Ending in an arrow shape on the leg part.

Das Garn ist “Regia 4fädig Natural Look” von Schachenmayr und die Farbe lässt sich schwer festhalten. Es ist nämlich nicht beige (wie ich auch dachte, als ich die Wolle über einen Tausch bekam), sondern ein blasses Grün.

The yarn is “Regia 4ply Natural Look” by Schachenmayr and the color is hard to catch. It’s not light beige or natural wool color (as I had thought when I got the yarn over a swap) but it’s a pale green.

Rundstulpen machen Spaß!

Circle Mitts are Fun!

Die rundgestrickten Stulpen machen wirklich viel Spaß, daher habe ich gleich das nächste Paar gestrickt.

The circle mitts are a lot of fun knitting, so I made the next pair.

Das praktische an der Anleitung ist, daß man ungefähr so viel Garn braucht, wie bei einem Paar Socken für mich übrig bleiben.

The other great thing is, that they need about the amount of yarn that is normally left after knitting a pair of socks for me.

Allerdings hatte ich aus dem “Regia Artic Color” Socken gehäkelt, das hatte mehr Garn verbraucht. Also habe ich noch etwas von dem grauen “Socks’ Wool Lucca” dazu genommen, Das bringt die Kreise besonders gut zur Geltung. 🙂

Only in this case I had crocheted socks from the other part of  “Regia Arctic Color”. And crocheted socks need more yarn. So I added some “Socks’ Wool Lucca” in grey which brings out the circle construction even better. 🙂

(Von dem bunten Garn sind gut acht Meter übrig, das graue Garn war also wirklich nötig.)

(And there are only a little more than 8 meters left of the selfstripeing yarn, so the grey one was really necessary.)

All round…

… werden diese fingerlosen Handschuhe gestrickt.

Ich fand das Konzept der Circle mitts von Sibyl R. auf Ravelry sehr interessant. Man fängt am Daumen an und strickt sich erst mal einen Kreis, der am Ende zusammengestrickt und mit Bündchen versehen wird.

I quite liked the concept of Circle mitts by Sibyl R. which I found on Ravelry. You start with the thumb and then you are knitting a circle which you close in the end before you add the cuffs.

Zum Glück habe ich auch noch selbstmusternde Sockenwolle (Regia Havanna Color von Schachenmayr nomotta) gefunden, um das auszuprobieren. Das Stricken macht viel Spaß, allerdings funktioniert das Konzept nicht so gut, wenn man die Handstulpen etwas länger haben will oder/und wenn man eher lange Hände hat. Dann sind sie nämlich zu weit, wenn sie hoch genug sind. (Das Problem war mit ein bißchen Auftrennen lösbar, wie man sieht.) Und genauere Vorschläge, wie man die Zunahmen im Kreis verteilen soll (nicht nur “nicht regelmäßig”) wären hilfreich gewesen, aber auch hier wurde es beim zweiten Handschuh dann besser.

Luckily I’ve found some remnant of self stripeying sock wool (Regia Havanna Color by Schachenmayr nomotta) in my stash. Knitting was huge fun, though the concept does not work completely if you want your mitts a big longer and/or have more longish hands. In that case they will be too wide when they have the right height. (It involved a bit of frogging, but I could solve the problem, as you can see.) Also it would have beennice to have more precise instruction where to add stitches for the circle (more exact than “not regular”), but the second one got better than the first.

Als Resultat gefällt es mir aber gut, Zumal die verbrauchte Menge ungefähr das ist, was nach einem Paar Socken für mich typischerweise übrig ist. Das werde ich sicher noch mal probieren.

But I like the mitts. Another plus is, that the amount of yarn used is about that what is typically left after a pair of socks for me. So I guess I will make another version…

HäkelmotivHier kommt noch mal ein Motiv aus “Beyond the Square” aus den bereits mehrfach gezeigten Garnen von Schachenmayr und katia.

Das gefällt mir richtig gut, ist aber mit 14cm – 15cm Durchmesser viel zu groß…

Yet another motif from “Beyond the Square”, again the already mentioned yarns from katia and Schachenmayr.

This one I like a lot, only it’s too large…

Motiv 48Nachdem ich mit den Weihnachtssachen durch bin, kann ich auch noch ein paar andere Miniprojekte zeigen. Diesmal Motiv 48 aus dem Beyond the Square Buch, wieder mit Nadelstärke 4 und mit zwei Farbtönen “Morena” von Schachenmayr und einmal “Linen” von katia.

Wie man helle, kleine Sachen bei Kunstlicht vernünftig photographiert habe ich leider noch nicht raus. 🙁

Now I through with the Christmas stuff so I can show other tiny projects. Motif 48, again from Beyond the Square, again hook 4mm and using two colors of “Morena” by Schachenmayr and one “Linen” by katia.

How to take recognizable pics of small things in light colors by artificial light is something I definitely haven’t learned yet. 🙁

Motiv 48, Version 2Das Ergebnis hat mich nicht überzeugt, es war mir alles ein wenig zu locker und luftig. Außerdem zu groß.

Also noch mal das Gleiche, nur mit einer 3,5er Häkelnadel. Und auch wenn man nicht viel erkennt reicht es doch um zu sehen, daß das Motiv ein wenig dichter geworden ist. Aber nicht dicht genug…

I was not happy with my first result, it was to airy, to many holes  and not enough “substance”.

So I did it again using a 3.5mm hook. The pic is terrible but I think it shows the over all impression, the motif gained a bit densitiy. But it is not dense enough yet…

Motif 33

Häkelmotiv 33Und wieder ein gehäkeltes Hexagon aus Beyond the Square in den schon bekannten Farben. (Die Geschenke die ich gemacht habe kann ich ja vor Weihnachten nicht zeigen…)

Yet another crocheted Hexagon from Beyond the Square in the already known colors. (I can’t show the gifts I’ve been making before Christmas…)

Diesmal nur zwei Töne von Schachenmayr “Morena” und wieder Nadelstärke 4.

Dieses Hexagon ist dichter und kleiner als das letzte und im Moment gefällt es mir nicht so wirklich. (Wobei ich noch eine bessere Möglichkeit finden muß, die Dinger zu photographieren, so ist das mehr als suboptimal.)

This time it is only two different colors, both from Schachenmayr “Morena” and the hook size is 4mm. This hexagon is smaller and denser than the last one and I have to admit I don’t really feel the love for it. (Plus I have to figure out how to make better pictures of it. This one doesn’t show to much.)

Motif 30

Häkelmotiv 30Heute gibt es mal wieder ein Häkelmotiv aus dem Buch “Beyond the Square”.

Nummer 30 ist ein Hexagon und diesmal ist die Farbwahl etwas weniger zufällig, sondern der erste Test für ein “richtiges” Projekt, ein großes noch dazu. (Gut, daß Bärbel nicht mehr mitliest… ich und häkeln und dann gleich in groß…) Verwendet habe ich zwei Farben von Schachenmayr “Morena” und einmal “Linen” von katia, verarbeitet mit einer Häkelnadel Stärke 4.

Again we have a crochet motif from “Beyond the Square”.

It’s number 30 and it’s a hexagon. This time it is not made from scrap yarn, but from “real” one because this is already part of testing for a big crochet project. The yarn are two colorways of “Morena” by Schachenmayr and “Linen” by katia in white. Worked with a 4mm crochet hook.

Soft Blue Stars

gestrickter SternDiesmal war mir ernst mit der Restverwertung… nach Mütze und Schal war immer noch Garn übrig (zumindest in drei von den ursprünglichen vier Farben), also habe ich mich auf Ravelry umgesehen und bin auf diese weichen, gefüllten Sterne gestoßen.

Yes, this time it’s serious with “no remnants”… so after scarf and hat I checked Ravelry and found those soft, padded stars.

Das Muster ist Stjärna von Karolina Eckerdal.

Der rechte Stern hat eine dunkle und eine helle Seite, der linke Stern ist dreifarbig.

The pattern is Stjärna from Karolina Eckerdal.

The star on the right picture has a dark and a “clear” side, the left one uses all three colors that were left after the beanie.

Die Dinger sind komplett nutzlos, aber ein netter Zwischendrinstrick, der auch meine Füllwattevorräte etwas verringert. (Okay, sie haben ganz gute Flugeigenschaften und richten keinen Schaden an… *g*)

The thingies are completely useless, but they are fun and quick to knit and used also a bit from my batting stash. (Well, maybe not completely useless… they fly well and they don’t do any harm if they hit… *g*)
