SterneIrgendwie merkt man dann doch, daß Weihnachten naht.

Somehow I can’t deny to feel Christmas coming near.

Als ich überlegte, was ich mit den Resten von Drachenwolle Sockenwolle mit Bambus und Seide machen sollte fiel mir diesmal ganz spontan wieder das Muster Stjärna von Karolina Eckerdal ein. Und diesmal habe ich endlich verstanden, wie das mit der Anschlagreihe gemeint ist, deswegen ist der zweite Stern auch etwas größer…

I was thinking what to do with the remnants of Drachenwolle Sockenwolle mit Bambus und Seide and Stjärna by Karolina Eckerdal popped up in my mind. And this time I finally understood how I was supposed to work the cast on row, this is why the second star is a bit bigger…

Autumn Monster

HäkelmonsterMeine Resteverwertung geht weiter und diesmal gab es ein süßes Monsterchen.

My “remnants busting” goes on and this time the result is a cute little monster.

Die Garnreste waren Noro Kureyon sock, zwei verschiedene Farbstellungen, aber das ist da ja ziemlich egal. Die Anleitung habe ich mal wieder auf Ravelry gefunden,es ist das Valentine Monster von Emma Varnam. Die Klebeaugen hatte ich noch und auch den Herzknopf.

The yarn was Noro Kureyon sock, two different colors, but that doesn’t matter. Pattern is from Ravelry, Valentine Monster by Emma Varnam. The sticky eyes I already had, same for the heart button.

Das Häkeln war ziemlich mühsam und pannenbehaftet. Zum einen ist das häkeln mit dem 2,5mm Häckchen relativ mühsam, zum anderen funktionierte erst mal gar nichts. Die Arme waren eigentlich zu locker, um sie vernünftig stopfen zu können, der Boden wollte nicht flach werden und überhaupt bekam ich eine lange und dünnen Röhre und das sah so gar nicht wie auf dem Bild aus… Bis mir allmählich dämmerte, daß es im Englischen ja unterschiedliche Terminologie beim Häkeln gibt. Je nach Land bedeutet “double crochet” entweder Stäbchen (so waren meine Anleitungen bisher) oder… feste Masche. Und das war es diesmal. Und dann funktioniert es auch. 🙂

Crocheting was a bit tricky. For once because crocheting the yarn with the small 2.5mm hook was a bit… small. And then nothing worked out. The material was not dense enough to be stuffed well, the bottom of the monster was not willing to lay flat at all, I was producing a very long and thin tube and nothing did look like the pictures… well… then I remembered that BE and AE do not have the same crocheting terminology…. “Double crochet” here means that what I know as “single crochet”. And then it did work out. 🙂

Ja, es ist schon so weit. Mit meinem Weihnachtsstricken bin ich fertig. 🙂 (Okay, das liegt an der geringen Anzahl der gestrickten Geschenke…)

Yes, it’s about time. I’ve finished my christmas knitting. 🙂 (Okay, two items… not really great achievement…)

MützeDa mein Bruder seine letzte Mütze ja den Motten geopfert hat (bzw die Hälfte davon, die Biester haben nur das teurere und weichere Garn rausgefressen) gibt es dieses Jahr eine neue.

Since my brother had his last hat eaten by moths he’ll get a new one this year. (Btw the moths ate only the softer and more expensive yarn out of the striped hat…)

Ich suchte was mit etwas Struktur, aber nicht so viel Schnickschnack und da gefiel mir “Strib Hat” von Kelly Williams ins Auge. Nur habe ich die Streifen an mein Garn angepaßt. Und habe gemäß meinen eigenen Mützenerfahrungen 112 Maschen angeschlagen.

I had been looking for a pattern with some texture, but no “chichi” and the “Strib Hat” by Kelly Williams was perfect for me. Only changes I made was casting on more stitches (112) according to my own experience with hats and my gauge and I also changed the stripes according to my yarn.

Als Garn habe ich “Zenith” von di.Vé aus einer Grab Bag von WEBS genommen und in der Maschenkunst noch ein Knäuel “Sportwool” von Filatura die Crosa in Grün dazu gekauft. Ergebnis gefällt mir schon mal und hat außerdem Garn von meinem Vorrat verbraucht. Dann hoffe ich mal, daß es dem Beschenkten auch gefallen wird. Und die Motten nicht so schnell wieder drüber herfallen…

Yarn I used was “Zenith” by di.Vé from my WEBS grab bag and added green “Sportwool” by Filatura di Crosa. I like the result and I could use from my stash. So I hope the receiver will like the hat also. And I hope the moths will not eat it up so quickly…

Impulsive Knitting

Normalerweise bin ich ja nicht jemand, der ein Muster sieht und sofort zur Nadel greift. Aber diesmal konnte ich nicht widerstehen…

Normally I am not a person that grabs the needles as soon as an interesting pattern shows up. But this time I could not resist…

Mütze mit ZugDas Muster Choo-choo toque von L Gordon-Norman tauchte bei Ravelry auf und ich war schon in meinem Stash auf der Suche nach passendem Garn. In der passenden Stärke hatte ich keines, aber als ich mir die angegebene Maschineprobe angeguckt habe, schnappte ich mir Zwei Knäuel dickere Wolle, “Merino Aran” von Debbie Bliss, die ich mal für 1 EUR das Knäuel als Restposten in der Casa Lana bekommen hatte.

The pattern Choo-choo toque by L Gordon-Norman appeared at ravelry and I started instantly checking my stash. I didn’t have worsted in a fitting color or material, but after checking the gauge I decided that aran would do. Some years ago I had purchased some balls of “Merino Aran” by Debbie Bliss at Casa Lana for 1 EUR each so now it was their turn.

Nadeln habe ich dann 4mm und 5mm genommen und da ich keine so dicken Spielstricknadeln habe, mußte ich auch die Abnahmen mit den Rundstricknadeln arbeiten. Das war dann in den letzten Reihen eine leichte Herausforderung. 😮

I used 4mm and 5mm circs and since I do not own so big dpns I had to to the crown with the circs also. Which was kind of challenging, especially the last rows. 😮

Jetzt muß es nur noch meinem Neffen passen und gefallen und vor allem seiner Mutter. Denn wir wissen alle, wer bei so kleinen Kindern darüber entscheidet, was sie anziehen. 🙂

Now only it has to fit my nephew and he has to like it. And his mother has to like it because we all know who decides about the clothes of a toddler. 🙂

Edit am nächsten Tag: Mutter liebt die Mütze, Kind liebt die Mütze und behält sie auch auf. Erfolg auf der ganzen Linie! (Und der Auftrag, einen Schal zu stricken aus der gleichen Wolle. 🙂 )

Grannies, das 25 Prozent Update

Grannies, the 25 percent update

HäkelhexagonsInzwischen haben meine Häkelhexagons die magische Zahl von 101 erreicht. Ich habe also etwa ein Viertel der geschätzen benötigten Grannies. In dem Tempo hätte ich dann Januar 2015 genügend Fleckchen gehäkelt.

Meanwhile I got 101 crocheted hexagons. So about 1/4 of the number I think I will need. If I’ll go on at that rate I would have finished crocheting January 2015.

Wie man sieht ist noch ein Farbton dazugekommen, das sind alle, die ich im Moment habe. Ich weiß immer noch nicht, ob ich eventuell noch was zukaufen muß, aber im Moment ist mir noch keine Farbe ausgegangen.

So you can see there is one more hue of beige. Now you see all colors I have at the moment. I am not sure yet if I’ll have to buy more yarn of another color, but we’ll see. At the moment I still have yarn in all shades.

Addicted to Little Flowers…

rotes Häkelblümchen… muß man das wohl nennen.

… is what you probably have to call that.

Denn auch der letzte Rest von “Super Aussi” von Queensland Collection wurde zu einem Häkelblümchen. Und im Gegensatz zur Wickelrose funktioniert das auch.

So the last scrap of “Super Aussi” from Queensland Collection became a daisy again. That is something I manage, not like the rose.

Made in Germany...

Addi Häkelnadel… ist auch nicht mehr, was es mal war.

… isn’t what it used to be.

Nicht einmal 50 Hexagons für meine Grannie-Decke hat die Häkelnadel von addi durchgehalten. Keine Wunder, daß der Wollladen sich nicht mehr dran erinnern wollte, diese je verkauft zu haben. 😮 Aber selbst wenn wäre es egal gewesen, denn 3,5er Häkelnadeln waren eh aus.

It didn’t even last 50 Hexagons for my Grannie-Blanket. No wonder my yarn store did not want to have sold that product by addi ever. :o) But since they were completely out of 3.5mm crochet hooks it didn’t make any difference either.

Also bin ich noch mal zu Karstadt gelatscht und habe mir eine von Prym mit Soft-Griff gekauft. Hoffen wir, daß die besser hält, meine alten Prym Häkelnadeln sind jedenfalls bisher nie gebrochen.

So I went over to Karstadt and purchesed on by Prym with Soft-Grip. Let’s hope this one will last longer. My old prym crochet hooks did never break so far.

No roses

WollhäufchenMein Wollaufstricktrieb ließ mich mal wieder eine Anleitung für eine Rose (von ravelry) zu versuchen.

Trying to use up all my yarn made me test a pattern for a rose (from ravelry) again.

Was soll ich sagen… alle Anleitungen wo davon die Rede ist, man soll was aufrollen, daß es wie eine Rose aussieht gehen bei mir schief. Da bin ich zu doof dafür.

What shall I say… whenever instructions tell me to roll something in a way it looks like a rose don’t work for me. I am too stupid for that.

Das ist keine Rose, das ist ein klägliches Häufchen. Und das geht jetzt in den Müll. Auch eine Möglichkeit, die Wolle loszuwerden.

The result is as far from being a rose as can be. That is a pathetic whatever… And will be dumped right now. But… well, a way to get rid of the wool, too.

Christmas is around the corner…

HandwärmerIch habe nämlich mein erstes Weihnachtsgeschenk schon fertig. 🙂

I’ve finished my first christmas gift. 🙂

Das Strickmuster sind die bewährten Spatterdash Wristwarmer aus einer knitty vom letzten Jahr, gestrickt wieder mit Noro Kureyon Sock, dem Rest von meinen, um genau zu sein.

The pattern is Spatterdash Wristwarmer from knitty, as yarn I was using the rest of the Noro Kureyon Sock that I had used for mine.

Diesmal mit einem etwas andere Touch, durch die orangenen Knöpfe von Entrée des Fournisseurs in Paris.

This time I used orange buttons from Entrée des Fournisseurs in Paris and I think they give the yarn a completely different look.

Und so schön sie sind… ich glaube, jetzt habe ich sie oft genug gestrickt. Der nächste, der sie begehrlich anschaut, der strickt sie sich selber. 😮

I still love the pattern… but I think three times is enough. The next one who gives them longing looks can knit them herself. 😮
