Ein Knäuel Mütze… oder so…

One skein beanie… somehow…
helle Mütze mit Bommel
Eigentlich wollte ich nur das Knäuel “Lana” von Tahki Yarns aufbrauchen, das ich damals mit der “Grab Bag” von Webs bekommen habe. Als Anleitung habe ich mir Chunky Beanie von NatHipKnits ausgesucht. Aber so “chunky” war mein Garn dann doch nicht, was ich angeschlagen habe war winzig. Außerdem war es etwas arg locker. Nach mehreren Fehlversuchen habe ich nicht nur deutlich mehr Maschen angeschlagen, sondern auch noch einen Faden “socks’ wool” von Schewe dazu genommen.

The plan was to use the skein “Lana” by Tahki Yarns I still had from my Webs grab bag. The pattern I choose was Chunky Beanie by NatHipKnits. But evidently my yarn was not chunky enough. What I started was really tiny. And quite loose with that needle size. After some more frogging I decided to add some “socks’ wool” by Schewe and held both yarns together.

Da das Garn recht knapp war, war das eine gute Gelegenheit, auch noch die letzten Meter “Joana” von Schachenmayr mit aufzubrauchen. Und dank des Bommels konnte ich das wirklich alles bis zum letzten Zentimeter verwenden. 🙂 Geworden ist es eine Kindermütze, die Anleitung war in diesem Punkt ja nicht so eindeutig… Aber als ich nicht mehr auftrennen mußte, war es ein schnelles Projekt. 🙂

The amount of yarn was a bit tight anyhow, so a good possiblity to use up my last remants of “Joana” by Schachenmayr. Thanks to the pompom I could really use it all down to the last centimeter. 🙂 The result is a beanie in child size. The instructions were not so clear regarding that point… But once I had finished all that frogging it was a fast project. 🙂

400 Hexagons…
Häkeldecke… etwa 6 Kilometer Garn und etwa drei Jahre und neun Monate Häkeln hat es gedauert. Aber jetzt ist meine Häkeldecke fertig und ich liebe sie. Ein einmaliges Stück und es war die Mühe wert.

… about 6 kilometers of yarn and about three years and nine months of crocheting was what it took to create this blanket. But it’s finished now and I love it. Really a unique piece and worth doing it.

Zur Zusammenfassung: es waren zwei verschiedene Häkelmotive (Nummer 30 und Nummer 54) aus dem Buch Beyond the Square von Edie Eckman und die verwendeten Garne waren “Boulino”, “Mystik” und “Samoa” von GGH, “Linen” von Katia, “Basics Capello” von Lana Grossa, “Morena” (in zwei Farben) von Schachenmayr nomotta,”Melange” von Zarina sowie “Bea” von Zettl. 400 Hexagons ergeben eine Decke von etwa 150cm x 200cm und fürs Zusammenhäkeln habe ich ziemlich genau vier Knäuel gebraucht.

To sum it up: I were two different crochet motifs (30 and 54) from the book Beyond the Square by Edie Eckman. The yarns I used were Boulino”, “Mystik” and “Samoa” by GGH, “Linen” by Katia, “Basics Capello” by Lana Grossa, “Morena” (in two colors) by Schachenmayr nomotta,”Melange” by Zarina and “Bea” by Zettl. 400 Hexagons make a blanket in the size 150cm x 200cm. Crocheting all the hexagons together took four skeins of yarn.

Die Garne sind nicht ganz gleich dick und die beiden Motive haben nicht die gleiche Maschenzahl, aber durch die Verwendung unterschiedlich starker Häkelnadeln und durch etwas Recken und Bügeln vor dem Zusammenhäkeln gleicht sich das am Ende aus, die Decke liegt flach. 🙂

The yarns do not all have the same weight and the motifs I choose do not have the same number of stitches. But by using crochet hooks of different sizes and then stretching and pressing the patches before attaching them it all evened out in the end. The blanket lays flat. 🙂

übrige Häkelteile Jetzt sind noch 80 Hexagons und etwa 600g verschiedener Garne übrig. Mal sehen, ob ich das irgendwie los werde…. Denn nein, ich mag keine gehäktelten Sofakissen…

Now I have about 80 hexagons and nearly 600g of different yarns left. Let’s see how I can get rid of those… Because no, I do not want grannie cushions.

Very fast fingerless mitts

Zumindest theoretisch, wenn man statt Maschenprobe erst mal eine Stulpe mit doch etwas zu kleinen Nadeln strickt, dann dauert es etwas länger.

At least theoretically. If you skip the gauge and knit one mitt with to small needles instead then it takes a bit longer.

HandstulpenIch hatte ein Knäuel “Joana” von Schachenmayr nomotto. Von dem hatte ich so ein- oder zwei Meter gebraucht, um einen Mütze fertig zu stricken. Also suchte ich was für das dicke Garn mit der eher kurzen Lauflänge.

I had one skein of “Joana” by Schachenmayer nomotta left. I had needed a bit more than one meter to finish a hat and was left with one not even full skein of a thick yarn with not to much meterage.

Und da fand ich bei ravelry dieses Modell: Bofur’s fingerless Gloves von Anya Lowery. Was mich fasziniert ist, daß dies wirklich die einfachste Konstruktion eines Handwärmers ist: Perlmuster, ein Schlitz für den Daumen… und es funktioniert! Die grobe Optik gefällt mir sehr gut. Dadurch daß die Finger und der Daumen weitgehend frei sind, kann man auch gut arbeiten. Die sollten eigentlich auch gut sein, um im Winter am Computer zu tippen. Dabei bekomme ich nämlich auch gerne kalte Finger. Ich gehe allerdings davon aus, daß ich das diesen Winter nicht mehr testen werde…

And then I found the Bofur’s fingerless Gloves pattern by Anya Lowery on ravelry. I am very fascinated by the extreme basic construction principle: Seed stitch, an opening for the thumb…. done. I like also the look a lot. Fingers and thumb are mostly free, so great to do some work. And they should be useful to type on the computer on cold winter days. I tend to get cold hands from this. But I do not think I will have to test it this winter...

Einziges Problem: Es ist immer noch Garn übrig… das war nicht so geplant.

Only problem: There is still some yarn left… that was not the plan.

Grannie-Update 2013

Das Jahresupdate meines aktuellen Grannie-Stands will ich euch aber auch nicht vorenthalten. Ich habe alle wieder ausgepackt und festgestellt, daß es inzwischen 301 sind! Dreiviertel der Häkelarbeit ist also erledigt.

Of course there is the 2013 update of my grannie crochet project. I unpacked all I have for the photo and it’S 301 now! So I have 3/4 of the intended number.

(Mindestens. Denn ich habe jetzt über die Kleinanzeigen auf Hobbyschneiderin24 noch zwei Sorten Garn gekauft. Und ich denke, wenn ich dann so weit aufgebraucht habe, daß wieder nur noch drei Farben übrig sind, dann höre ich auf und so groß wie sie wird, wird sie dann halt. Ansonsten…. wenn ich im aktuellen Tempo weiterhäkle wäre ich April 2015 fertig.)

(At least 3/4. Because I just purchased some more yarn via the market of hobbyschneiderin24. And I think when all that is used up down to only 3 remaining colors I will stop crocheting and the blanket will be the size for which I have enough hexagons then. Should I do all 400 the prognostics say I would be finished april 2015.)

A Bag Full of Grannies…

Tasche mit Häkelteilen… sind genau 239 Stück.

… makes 239 hexagons.

Also es wären auch 240 reingegangen, aber von einer Farbkombination gibt es nur neun, weil dann das Garn ausging.

240 would have been possible also, but for one color combination I have only nine patches because I ran out of yarn.

Aber jetzt ist diese so praktische Tasche leider voll und ich muß mir überlegen, wo ich den Rest aufbewahre. Wenn ich auch noch anfangen, “passgenaue” Einkaufsbeutel zu nähen, komme ich ja zu gar nichts sinnvollem mehr…

But now this super useful bag is full and I have to see what I am going to use for the rest. Theoretically I could sew on, but if I start sewing shopping bags also I’ll never get anything of my needed projects finished…

Halfway through!

Im Moment geht es zügig, ich habe tatsächlich 200 Grannies gehäkelt, sprich die Hälfte ist geschafft!

At the moment there is good progress, I’ve crocheted 200 grannies. So I’ve done half of what I will need!

Sollte ich das Tempo beibehalten, wäre ich Juni 2014 mit allen Hexagons fertig.

If I manage to keep up that speed I would have done all hexagons in June 2014.

3/8 of Grannies

Und schon wieder gibt es Neuigkeiten von meinem Häkelwerk. Ich habe nämlich mehr als 3/8 der Hexagons gehäkelt, also 158 Stück um genau zu sein.

Again news from my granny hexagons. I’ve more than 3/8 of the total number, 158 to be precise.

In dem Tempo wäre ich glatt im Oktober 2014 mit Häkeln fertig. Mal sehen, ob ich diese Rate beibehalten kann…

If I could go on at that speed crocheting would be done october 2014. Let’s see…

Rainbow Wingspan

Dieses Tuch ist schon seit November (2012) fertig, aber zeigen kann ich es erst jetzt, denn es ist ein Geschenk und das wollte ich nicht vorher zeigen. Zumal die Beschenkte gelegentlich hier mit liest.

I’ve finished this scarf in november (2012) already but I had to wait until know to show it. It’s a gift and the receiver sometimes does read this blog.

Wingspan TuchDas Muster ist Wingspan von Tri’Coterie bei ravelry. Dort schon in über 6000 Projekten zu sehen verstehe ich genau warum. Eines jener Muster, die mit verkürzten Reihen spielen, ganz einfach zu stricken sind, aber einen verblüffenden Effekt erzielen.

The pattern is Wingspan by Tri’Coterie via ravelry. There are more than 6000 projects and I understand perfectly why: It is one of those smart short row patterns that are easy to knit, but create a stunning effect.

Das Garn ist Regia Bamboo Sockenwolle, wunderbar weich und in allen Regenbogenfarben leuchtend. (Ich habe viel rumprobiert, aber so richtig lassen sich die Farben nicht einfangen. Sie sehen immer blasser aus, auf den Bildern.)

The yarn is Regia Bamboo sock wool, very soft and shining in all colors of the rainbow. (I’ve tried a lot to capture the colors, but didn’t manage to. They always look paler on the picture than irl.)

Wingspan SchalDas Garn habe ich ursprünglich mal von der jetzt Beschenkten bekommen. Dann fand ich es aber zu weich, um Socken draus zu stricken und mußte mich damit abfinden, daß mir diese Farben so gar nicht stehen… Also zurück an Absender, aber als Tuch. 😉

I got the yarn years ago from the receiver of the gift. But then I never could decide to make socks, because it is so soft. And I had to accept that those colors will never look good next to my face. So… return to sender, but with a transformation. 😉

Da das Garn die Struktur zum Verschwinden brachte, habe ich in die kraus rechts Rippen jede zehnte Reihe links getrickt und dadurch eine glatt rechts Rippe geschaffen, die das Muster gut zeigt.

The yarn did completely “eat” the structur of the pattern, so I changed every tenth row to a purl row, creating stockinette stripes in the garter stitch which show the pattern well now.

Jetzt muß ich mir nur überlegen, aus welchem Garn ich einen für mich stricke….

Now I have to decide which yarn to choose for my own wingspan…

A year of Grannies

135 GranniesDa fällt mir doch auf… meine Häkeldecke ist jetzt ein Jahr alt.:-)

I just recognized… my crochet plaid turned one. 🙂

Wir haben 135 Hexagons, eine aufgebrauchte Farbe und ich habe noch mal Garn zugekauft, in der Maschenkunst lief mir ein passendes Sonderangebot von ggh “Mystik” über den Weg. (Nein, die könnt ihr nicht mehr kaufen, ich habe alle zehn Knäuel mitgenommen.)

Now we have 135 hexagons, one yarn used up and I’ve purchased another yarn. At Maschenkunst they had a nice sale on ggh “Mystik”. (I took all ten skeins that were left of that color.)

In dem Tempo dauert es auch nur bis Februar 2015 bis ich alle Teile gehäkelt haben…

At the current rate ist will only take until February 2015 until all pieces will be crocheted…

121 HexagonsIch bin offensichtlich immer noch in “Statistik-Rückschau-Laune”.

Looks I’m still in the mood for statistics and looking back.
