Karamell (Slipper socks)

Füßlinge mit LochmusterUnd noch mal Füßlinge, diesmal in einer luftigen Version mit kleinen Löchern, aber auch ganz einfach zu stricken.

More slipper socks/ liners. This time with cute and airy eylets, but also very easy to knit.

Als Garn waren diesmal etwa 35g “Meilenweit Cotton 50 Uni” von Lana Grossa am Start, die ich im Frühjahr bei Wolle Rödel in Bayreuth gefunden hatte.

Der Farbton kommt auf den Bildern nicht gut rüber, aber er hat den Namen inspiriert.

FüßlingeYarn is this time from Lana Grossa, “Meilenweit Cotton 50 Solid” and I had found it as a 50g skein at Wolle Rödel in Bayreuth.

The pics don’t do the color justice, but it’s the color of the yarn that inspired the name of the pattern.

Pullover habe ich früher viele gestrickt, aber in den 80ern kam es auf die Paßform nicht an und seit meinem Strick-Neustart habe ich mich kaum dran getraut. Aber das Modell gefiel mir so gut und erschien auch fix zu stricken, daß ich mich ran wagte.

I’ve knitted a lot of sweaters in my long ago knitting days, but those were the 1980s and fit was not an issue then. Since I had my knit restart I hardly ever made sweaters. But I liked this pattern and it looked as if it was quite a quick knit, so I dared to try it.

RondeurDer kurzärmelige “Rondeur” aus der aktuellen Sommerknitty mußte es werden. Gefallen hat mir nicht nur die figurbetonte Form, sondern auch die lacige Betonung der Raglanform.

Im Gegensatz zum Original habe ich mich für maschinenwaschbare Baumwolle “Monaco” von katia entschieden. (Und ja, die Maschenkunst hat auch nette und nicht teuere Standardgarne.) Und überraschenderweise kam ich auf Anhieb auf die gleiche Maschenzahl wie die Maschenprobe, ohne eine Nadelgröße runter gehen zu müssen. Daß ich in der Höhe mehr Reihen brauchte war nicht so schlecht, denn dadurch war die Anpassung an meinen kurzen Oberkörper einfacher.

What I liked on “Rondeur” from the summer issue of Knitty is not only the simple but figure hugging shape but also the lacey enhancement of the raglan shape.

I’ve chosen a machine washable cotton yarn “Monaco” from katia. (Yes, Maschenkunst does also have sensibly priced standard yarns.) To my surprise my gauge matched the stitch count of the gauge without having to go down a needle size. I needed more rows though, but that wasn’t bad as it helped to fit it to my short torso.

In der Weite habe ich die Größe 1X gestrickt, nur zur Hüfte hin habe ich einmal mehr zugenommen. Und in der Länge habe ich immer wieder anprobiert. Die Anleitung gibt auch Maße relativ zu den eigenen Körpermaßen, das hilft bei der Anpassung.

I made size 1x for the number of stitches. Only in the hip shaping I added one row of adding stitches more than the pattern calls for this size. To fit it on the length I tried it on very often while knitting. The pattern gives you instructions how to shape according to your body measurements, that helps.

Webband von KafkaUnd weil der Pulli vorne und hinten den gleichen Ausschnitt hat, habe ich hinten noch mit etwas Webband von Kafka markiert. Ganz locker angenäht, damit der Pullover sich passend dehnen kann.

(Da die Bänder von Kafka mit einem schönen Abschluss an den Seiten gewebt sind, sind sie sehr weich und kratzen auch nicht auf der Haut.)

Front and back neckline are the same for this sweater so I used a bit of ribbon from Kafka to mark the back. Sewn with “ease” so the neckline will still be able to stretch as it should.

(The ribbons by Kafka have very soft woven borders, so they are not scratchy on the skin.)

Ich mag das Ergebnis, denn der Pulli macht mehr Sanduhr-Figur als ich eigentlich habe. Aber vielleicht brauche ich noch einen Rock dazu… mal sehen. Den Preis, daß man den Bauch natürlich auch sieht zahle ich in der Gesamtansicht aber gerne. 🙂

I like the result because the sweater gives me more hourglass shape than I actually have. Maybe I need a skirt to go with it… we’ll see. The price to pay for that is that also the belly is well visible, but on a whole I’m willing to pay that price. 🙂

(Un)Felted Mousie

Ja, das graue ONline Garn war nicht aufgebraucht, also wieder Ravelry geflöht…

Hadn’t finished the gray ONline yarn. So again I checked Ravelry….

gestrickte MausUnd fand die Anleitung Felted Mousie von Cailyn Meyer. Daß meine Wolle nicht filzen würde war klar, aber das Ergebnis ist trotzdem niedlich.

Da ich nicht gefilzt habe, habe ich die Maus gestopft bevor ich den Schwanz gestrickt habe. Im Original schneidet man die Maus auf und füllt sie dann. Nach dem Filzen. Und ich habe deutlich dünnere Nadeln genommen, als vorgesehen.

And I found the pattern Felted Mousie by Cailyn Meyer. It was clear my yarn would not felt, but the result is somewhat cute anyhow.

The pattern tells you to felt the mouse, then cut it open, stuff it and sew it closed again. Since I did not felt it a stuffed it before finishing the butt and starting the tail. And I used a smaller needle size.

Gedacht ist das Ding als Katzenspielzeug. Nur habe ich keine Katze und ungefilzt wäre das wohl auch ein arg kurzes Katzenvergnügen. Also schwindet zwar der Restwollestapel, aber die Kiste der Nutzlosigkeiten wächst… (Inzwischen aber schon verschenkt… Kleine Kinder haben auch Freude dran.)

Normally this would be a toy for cats. Only I don’t have a cat and beeing not felted it would be a very short pleasure for any cat I guess. So my rest stash is decreasing, but my collection of useless things increases at the same rate… (Meanwhile I’ve passed it on… Little children also like it.)

Slightly skewed…

Sneaker SockeNeben den ganzen dicken Sachen sind auch noch sehr sommerliche Sneaker Socken fertig geworden.

Besides all that thick stuff I also finished some summer sneaker socks.

Ein bißchen Zopf und viel Lochmuster dazwischen. Sehr luftig.

Auf der Sohle dann ein Streifen im rechts-links Muster, der sich zur Ferse hoch zieht.

Garn ist “Opal Petticoat Cotton” von Zwerger, auch das habe ich in der Maschenkunst gefunden.

Sneaker SockeA bit of cable and a lot of netting between. Very airy.

On the sole a stripe in knit stitches that runs up the heel.

Yarn is “Opal Petticoat Cotton” from Zwerger which I’ve purchased at Maschenkunst.

So ganz habe ich beim Stricken allerdings nicht nachgedacht, das Lochmuster zieht sich schräg in eine Richtung. Man kann sie tragen, aber die Idee muß ich noch mal überarbeiten…

But I did not think properly when planning the pattern. The lace part “skews” the sock in one direction. They are wearable but the idea needs some further work….

Cute, but to small

MützeNach meiner Mütze war immer noch Garn übrig und dann fand ich auf Ravelry dieses schöne Muster, den Feather and Fan Hat von Betty Balcomb auf ravelry. Leider für dickeres Garn…

After my beanie there was still a lot of yarn left and when browsing ravelry I found that cute pattern:Feather and Fan Hat by Betty Balcomb But for much thicker yarn than mine…

Ich habe zwar versucht, das anzupassen und da die Mütze sehr dehnbar ist würde sie in der Weite sogar passen, aber in der Höhe gar nicht.

Tja… braucht jemand eine Kindermütze? 😉

I tried to adapt the pattern to my yarn and since the pattern has a lot of give it would my head circumference, but it is not long enough, sitting only on the top of my head.

Well… anyone who needs a child hat? 😉

Knitnick…. 🙂

Stricken und SpinnenDa am Wochenende ja WWKIP Day war (oder besser das Ende der Woche, inzwischen geht das Event ja über eine ganze Woche) und außerdem mein Geburtstag, hatte ich das ganze als Picknick mit Stricken, also Stricknick gefeiert.

The weekend it was WWKIP Day (or let’s say and of the wwkip week, because meanwhile it’s a whole week) and this coincided with my birhtday I decided to invite for a picknick with knitting, so Knitnick.

Und da es regnete blieben wir dann doch im Wohnzimmer.Wo es sich auch trefflich stricken und spinnen ließ.

And since it rained we remained in my living room. Which was good for knitting ans spinning.

GeschenkeUnd weil ich so tolle Geschenke bekommen habe, muß ich die doch mal zeigen…

Because I got so beautiful gifts I have to show them.

Es gab natürlich neben Kastanienlikör (*schleck*) stapelweise Bücher. Vor allem unterhaltsamer Art. Heute kam noch ein Päckchen von einer lieben Freundin, die leider nicht nach Köln kommen konnte. Schon mal Danke auf dem Weg! Email kommt später… (Das Einzige was nicht kam waren die Bücher, die mein armes Herzblatt bei Amazon bestellt hat und die angeblich bis Freitag hätten da sein sollen.)

I got chestnut liqeur (*yum*) and a lot of books. All kind of novels. Today another packet arrived from a friend who couldn’t make it to Cologne. (The only books that did not arrive in time were those that poor DH ordered from amazon and which were provided for Friday.)

Dann habe ich gelernt, daß man, auch wenn man Pattern Magic 2 bekommt keine Freundeschreie ausstoßen sollte, wenn ein Baby daneben sitzt. Das schreit dann nämlich gleich mit. 🙂 Und man sollte das Buch auch nicht den nähenden Gästen zeigen, die stoßen nämlich die gleichen Schreie aus. *gg*

Then I learned that you should not scream of joy, not even if you get Pattern Magic 2, if a baby is around. Because baby will join and cry. 🙂 And then you should not show the book to a bunch of co-sewers, because there will be much more screaming. *gg*

Eine Projekttasche für Socken gab es, mit dem coolsten Schafmotiv! (Ich wollte mir die ganze Zeit ja schon mal eine kleinere für Socken machen, kam aber nicht dazu… ) Gutschein für die Maschenkunst und für den Prym-Werksverkauf. Muß ich wohl doch mal nach Stolberg…

Then I got a project bag for socks with the coolest sheep on it! (I’ve been wanting to make a project bag for smaller projects for a while but never had the time…) Gift certificate for Maschenkunst and for the factory outlet of Prym. So I should plan a trip to Stolberg…

Und… ja, es ist jetzt amtlich, ich spinne auch. Eine ganz tolle und originelle Handspindel von Zauberpuffel. (Sie macht immer so tolle Sachen. Ich weiß grade nicht, ob sie die auch verkauft. Dawanda…? Etsy…?)  Plus Einweisung in die Materie. Naja, bis ich spinne wird noch etwas dauern. Im Moment produziere ich Faserchaos mit Anflügen von Garn… Aber ganz weich, aus Merino. 🙂

And… well… seems I’m a spinner now. I got a great and original drop spindle from Zauberpuffel (she makes them… not sure if she sells yet… dawanda? etsy?) Instructions included, of course. Well… until I’m spinning it will be a while. At the moment it’s more fiber chaos with some lengths of yarn… But very soft one, merino. 🙂

GarnZum Glück hatte jemand mehr Mitleid und meine Liebe zu Handgesponnenem wurde mit fertigem Garn gestillt. Ein wunderbarer lila-beere Ton und Bluefaced Leicester Faser. Was schon deswegen gut ist, weil ich das noch nie gestrickt habe und ich probiere ja so gerne neue Fasern aus. Es fühlt sich schon mal schön weich an. Und auch das Aussehen…

Luckily someone else had more pity and I got handspun yarn ready to use. The color is just gorgeous and the fiber is Bluefaced Leicester which I had heard of but never used so far. And I love trying new things. At feels already nice and soft. And the shine of the yarn…

Und die Farbe ist so lebendig… das gibt das Photo gar nicht wieder. Gut 1200 Meter sind bei meiner Liebe zu großen Tüchern auch perfekt. Daß die Einzelsträngenicht ganz die gleiche Lauflänge haben ist nicht schlimm. Entweder es werden doch zwei Projekte oder ich suche mir was (denke mir was aus) wo ich das gleich nutzbringend einsetzen kann. (Ja, da hängen auch noch Maschenmarkierer dran…)

The colors are so lively, the photo can not really to them justice. It’s more than 1200m which is great for my love for big shawls. The skeins are not all the same length, but that doesn’t matter at all. Either they will be made in two smaller projects or I’ll find (or make…) a pattern that will really profit of that. (And yes, those cute little things are stitch markers….)

Ich hoffe, meine Gäste hatten alle einen genauso schönen Tag wie ich. 🙂 So schön wie der Tag war und die Geschenke sind kann ich das mit Kuchen und Essen gar nicht wirklich zurückzahlen!

I hope my guests loved the day as much as I did. 🙂 The wonderful company and those gifts I can not pay back in cake and food!

Soft Blue Stars

gestrickter SternDiesmal war mir ernst mit der Restverwertung… nach Mütze und Schal war immer noch Garn übrig (zumindest in drei von den ursprünglichen vier Farben), also habe ich mich auf Ravelry umgesehen und bin auf diese weichen, gefüllten Sterne gestoßen.

Yes, this time it’s serious with “no remnants”… so after scarf and hat I checked Ravelry and found those soft, padded stars.

Das Muster ist Stjärna von Karolina Eckerdal.

Der rechte Stern hat eine dunkle und eine helle Seite, der linke Stern ist dreifarbig.

The pattern is Stjärna from Karolina Eckerdal.

The star on the right picture has a dark and a “clear” side, the left one uses all three colors that were left after the beanie.

Die Dinger sind komplett nutzlos, aber ein netter Zwischendrinstrick, der auch meine Füllwattevorräte etwas verringert. (Okay, sie haben ganz gute Flugeigenschaften und richten keinen Schaden an… *g*)

The thingies are completely useless, but they are fun and quick to knit and used also a bit from my batting stash. (Well, maybe not completely useless… they fly well and they don’t do any harm if they hit… *g*)

Striped Beanie

Ich weiß, daß im Moment gar nicht die Jahreszeit dafür ist, aber ich bin gerade in grimmiger “Reste gar nicht erst entstehen lassen” Stimmung. Und zumindest bei Wolle könnte es ja klappen. Da ist auch mein Lager nicht so groß…

1-2-3-5 BeanieI know it is absolutely the wrong time for knitting warm hats, but I feel so much like “not producing more stash” that I am trying to finish all rest yarn after finishing a project.

Die Reste sind “Zara” von Filatura di Crosa und “Merino Extra” von Schachenmayr. Als Anleitung habe ich meine eigene 1-2-3-5 Mütze verwendet. Ich muß das Rad ja nicht immer neu erfinden.

Die fertige Mütze wirdmit dem Schal (von dem es die Reste sind) auf die Reise gehen.

The yarn remnants were “Zara” of Filatura di Crosa and “Merino Extra” from Schachenmayr. I used my own 1-2-3-5 Beanie pattern.

The yarn was left from knitting the scarf for a friend and the hat will just be delivered with the scarf.

Euler’s stripes

Schal Eulersche StreifenIch weiß, das ist komplett die falsche Jahreszeit, aber der Schal ist nun mal jetzt fertig und der nächste Winter kommt bestimmt.

I know it is completely the wrong season, but the scarf was finished now and there will be another winter.

Ein Freund, der sich immer mal meinen Computer kümmert, hat sich einen “Schal, den man zwei Mal um den Hals wickeln kann” gewünscht. Ich würde sagen… Wunsch erfüllt.

A friend who is sometimes taking care of my Computer wanted a “scarf I can wrap around my neck twice”. Mission accomplished….

Schal \Da ich unregelmäßige Streifen mag, mir aber keine Streifenfolge ausdenken will, habe ich mir eine der vielen netten Zahlen mit unendlich vielen Stellen hinter dem Komma geschnappt und das in Streifen umgesetzt. Wie der Name des Schals nahe legt, es war die Eulersche Zahl die herhalten mußte.

I like irregular stripes but didn’t want to bother with thinking about a rhythm for the stripes myself I took one of those numbers with an indefinite number of digits and turned them into stripes. As the name of the pattern suggests it was Euler’s number I choose.

Der Schal hat abgeschrägte Enden und ist im Perlmuster gestrickt. Also nicht sehr schwierig. Nur 2,30m lang.

Material war Merino Wolle aus der Maschenkunst, “Zara Solid” und “Zara Chiné” von Filatura di Crosa sowie “Merino extra” von Schachenmayr von dem ich noch knapp 3 Knäuel hatte. (Und auch prompt noch eines nachkaufen mußte, was dann nicht so ganz einfach war.)

Falls jemand einen “geekigen” Schal für den Mathematiker oder Physiker seines Lebens braucht oder selber auf derartig entstandene Muster steht:

The scarf has slanted ends and is knitted in seed stitch. (Moss stitch for the British, I think) So it is not difficult. Only 2.30m (2.50yds) long.

Material was merino from Maschenkunst, “Zara Solid” and “Zara Chiné” from Filatura di Crosa and “Merino extra” from Schachenmayr where I had a little less than three skeins (and of course I had to buy one more which was not at all easy).

So if you want to make a scarf for the geek in your life or like that yourself, here is the pattern:

Gretel (Slippersocks)

Füßling mit ZopfDa sich meine Füßlinge vom letzten Jahr beim Tragen durchaus bewährt haben, ein Paar für einen ganzen Sommer aber doch etwas wenig ist, habe ich mir ein zweites Paar gestrickt.

Since my “heels for flats” last year have proven to wear well and be useful I needed a second pair. One for a whole summer is not really enough…

Da zwei Mal genau das gleiche aber auch langweilig ist, habe ich ein wenig variiert: Die Zunahme ist etwas anders und ein kleiner Zopf läuft über die Spitze und am Rand entlang. (Daher dann auch der Name… zu Gretel gehören Zöpfe.)

Der Entwurf für die Socken lag übrigens auch schon seit letztem Sommer bei mir herum, aber da ja Winter war, war es nicht so eilig….

Sohle von GretelAußerdem hat die Sohle diesmal auch ein wenig Muster bekommen.

Since it is to boring to knit exactely the same twice I varied it a bit. The increases are worked a bit differently and there is a cable that starts on the toe and frames the foot. (That is also what gave the socks their name. The German word for “cable” in knitting is “Zopf” and “Zopf” also is the name for braided hair. Braids then are something that goes with the name Gretel.)

The design for those socks has been around since last summer, but I didn’t have the time to make it then, in winter other things were more important to knit and so it took until now to actually knit them.

The sole also got a bit of a pattern.
