Piggy in Pink

genähtes Schweinchen in pink

Dieses Schweinchen hatte ich jetzt ewig in der Phototasche, auf den wirklich tollen Moment wartend. Der aber nicht kam, also einfach eine dokumentarischer Aufnahme. Die Reste meiner beiden letzten Shirts wurden zu einem Schweinchen nach einer Anleitung von Aranzi Aronzo. Für die Klauen durfte ein Rest Fleece herhalten, für die Augen Knöpfe und die Nasenlöcher wurden Pailletten. Was halt so da war. Laut Anleitung hätte es traurig gucken sollen, aber meines wollte lieber fröhlich sein.

This little piggy I had been dragging around for quite some time in my camera bag, waiting for the real cool moment. Which did not come, so I finally decided to snap some pictures now. The remnants from my last two tops became this piggy (with a top also), using instructions from the book by Aranzi Aronzo. For theclaws I used some fleece and for the noose sequins. Stuff that was at hand. The instructions were for a sad looking piggy, but mine wanted to smile.

Zugeschnitten hatte ich es übrigens hier im April schon mal gezeigt.

Flat felled seam… by hand

Kappnähte von HandMeine Fortschritte sind ja minimal, aber so kann ich wenigstens mal zeigen warum… ich habe mich bei dem weichen Wolljersey für Kappnähte entschieden. Denn zumindest an der Kapuze sieht man die Nähte ja. Ich wollte aber keine Steppnähte von außen… also mache ich den zweiten Schritt von Hand. Mit feinen Stichen und feiner Nadel. Wie man auf dem Bild sieht, klappt so auch die Naht”kreuzung” von Kapuzennaht und Halsausschnitt. Über die Dehnung des Stoffes muß ich mir so auch keine Gedanken machen. Zum einen ist er in Längsrichtung nicht sehr dehnbar, zum anderen kann ich das bei Handstichen gut über die Fadenspannung regeln.

My progress is minima, but at least I can show why… I decided for flat felled seams for my hoodie of wool jersey. Because at least at the hood the inside seams will be visible. And that is the cleanest way. But I did not want visible stitches on the outside, so the felling is done by hand. With fine stitches and a fine needle. As the picture shows that also works well where the hood seam and the neckline cross. Handstitches also have the advantages that I do not have to worry about the sufficient stretch of the seam. The fabric is not very stretchy, especially lengthwise and by hand I can control the tension of the sewing thread well enough.
