Tschüß Bettbezug, Hallo Nachthemd!

Goodbye duvet cover, hello nightshirt!

This time I did even the up to date trend of “upcycling”. Some time ago I had purchased bed covers for our holiday appartment. They were at a very good price on a special sale, but normally not the cheapest possible brand. After the first wash the cushion covers had turned into something dirty yellowish brown and had a very irregular color between them. I tryed some red dye (I still had around here) to make it a bit better, but then I stumbled over other covers in the right color scheme and exchanged them. But the fabric was still good (had hardly been used), so I kept the duvet covers…

So now I needed another summer nightshirt anyhow and I wanted to test the new slip pattern by Vogue (V9015) before cutting into the silk (that is supposed to become a slip) I got two in one here.

I used size 20, tapering to 24 at the hips, made an FBA and added a dart. Additionally I’ve shortened above the waist by 2cm all around and another 1cm at the middle back, tapering to nothing at the side seams. I did not use lace for the front, So I used a bias strip as a facing there. For the rest of the top I used fold over elastic, sewn on with a bit of stretch. (10% for the back, 15% for the sides.) Even though I made French seams it was put together quickly and will do it’s job. Now I can do the same with the silk….
