Konfitüre zum Ersten….

Confiture I

ErdbeermarmeladeAuch wenn meine Jacke auf die Reißverschlüsse wartet, es gibt ja immer saisonalen Kleinkram. Das ist die Erdbeermarmeladenproduktion von diesem Jahr. Einmal mit Vanille und püriert, einmal “normal” und stückig. Die Deckelchen sind aus dem gleichen Stoff, die aufgestickten Schriften aber unterschiedlich. So kennt man sie dann auch im Vorratskeller halbwegs auseinander.

My vest is waiting for the ordered zippers, but there is always seasonal stuff. That’s this years strawberry jam. Partiallywith vanilla and mixed, the other part plain and with chewable pieces. The covers use the same fabric, but the embroidered writing is in different colors. So you can pick the right one in the storage cellar.

Diversified again: fresh from the needles august 2015

Allmählich nähere ich mich wieder meinem üblich eher chaotischen Arbeitsstand an, bei dem diverse Projekte gleichzeig halbfertig rumliegen…

Slowly I am back to my usual working scheme that makes me having several not finished projects around…

Jackenteile
Meine Bikerjacke besteht aus zugeschnittenen Teilen, es gibt auch einzelnen Nähte, aber im Großen und Ganzen warte ich hier auf die Reißverschlüsse.

My biker jacket is cut, some seam also exist, but mostly it’s folded away and waits for the zippers.

Jerseykleid burda 6785
Derweil habe ich mir schon mal den Schnitt vorgenommen, der eines der Oberteile werden soll. Burda 6785. Dank der h&h habe ich da ja mal wieder einen Einzelschnitt von Burda, was ich schon lange nicht mehr genäht habe. Bevor ich meinen Stoff für das Shirt zerschneide gibt es also erst mal ein Probeteil aus einem billigen Stretch-Viscose Jersey das, regelmäßige Leser ahnen es schon, als Nachthemd herhalten darf. Da fehlt nur noch der Saum und vermutlich ein paar Handstiche, um den Beleg im Vorderteil zu befestigen.

So I started the preparations for one of the tops that are supposed to complete the outfit. I choose Burda 6785 which I got as a gift on the h&h trade fair. Since it is a very long time that I used a Burda pattern not from the magazine I wanted to test first. I had a cheap viscose four way stretch knit in my stash I sacrificed for the testing. And regular readers might guess… this will end up as a sleepwear. Here only the hem is missing and maybe some handstiches to tack down the front facing.

Strickkleid
Mein Strickkleid ist leider noch nicht fertig. Liegend misst es etwa 80cm, angezogen zum Glück etwas mehr, weil das Eigengewicht des Kleides auch nach unten zieht. (Mein “Vorlagekleid” misst 106 cm.) Und da der Wolladen leider schließt, habe ich dort noch das letzte Knäuel in blau gekauft. Damit könnte es dann wirklich reichen.

My knit dress isn’t finished yet. Laying on the floor it measures about 80cm, luckily the weight pulls it down a bit when worn. (The dress I took the measurements from has a lenght of 106cm.) And since the yarn shop is closing down I bought the last skein blue they still had. So the yarn might be enough.

begonnene Socke
Zusätzlich habe ich Socken für meine Aktion Socken stricken für Obdachlose angeschlagen. Noch nicht viel zu sehen, mal schaun, wie viel ich so schaffe…

Then I started socks for my Knitting socks for the homeless campaign. Not much to see and we’ll see how many socks I can manage.

Häkeldecke
Und natürlich gibt es ein Bild der Häkeldecke. Ich habe gestern davon profitiert, daß es trocken war, habe sie im Garten ausgelegt und vom Balkon aus photographiert… (Da ich seit gestern nichts dran gemacht habe, ist der Stand aber auch noch aktuell. 😉 )

And of course a picture of my endless Granny Hexagon. Yesterday it was dry and sunny, so I dragged it out in the garden and took a picture from the balcony above…. (Since I did not work anything on it since yesterday the pic is still up to date. 😉 )

Gross, loose, soft and short – a challenge to cut

Vor einigen Jahren habe ich bei Malhia Kent vom Grabbeltisch mal einen wunderschönen Stoff mitgenommen. Ein echtes Reststück mit unregelmäßigen Rändern zu einem Spottpreis. (Ich glaube, es war mit 10 EUR ausgepreist, ich hatte aber noch mehr gekauft und dann noch ein bißchen runtergehandelt.) Von Anfang an hatte ich eine kurze Jacke im Sinn. (Daß es für mehr nicht reicht war auch klar.) Daher soll das der Stoff zu meiner Biker-Stil Jacke werden.

Some years ago I’ve purchased a beautiful fabric at Malhia Kent from the bargain table. A real remnant, with irregularily shaped borders and for like nothing. (I think it had been marked 10 EUR, but I bought some more that day and asked for a discount on the whole purchase.) I had intended a short jacket right away. (It was very clear it would not be enough for more.) So that’s to be my biker-style vest.

Was der Stoff aber nicht hat ist irgendein Halt. Er ist aus unterschiedlichen Fäden und Bändern locker gewoben und läßt sich quasi beliebig verschieben. Und zerfranst schon beim Anschauen. Hier ist schon der Zuschnitt eine echte Herausforderung. Abgesehen davon, daß die Menge für die geplante Jacke wirklich sehr, sehr knapp ist.

What the fabric does not have is any kind of stability. Its woven very loosely from different ribbons and strings and you can pull it any direction you want without ever knowing which might be the right one. And it ravels like hell. So cutting is already a challenge. Which does not get easier by the fact, that the amount of fabric I have is really very, very, very tight for the pattern I want.

Schnitt auf Unterlegstoff gesteckt.

Die Lösung habe ich hier im Unterlegstoff gefunden. (Der ohnehin nötig ist, damit die Jacke irgendeine Form behält.) Der erste Schritt war, das Schnittmuster zu zeichnen bzw. aus einem schon weitgehend passenden Schnitt anzupassen. Ich will Biker Stil. Sieht man ja gerade auch überall, gefällt mir eh und zu dem eleganten Stoff stellt es einen stilistischen Bruch dar, wie ich das gerne mag. Da ich von der Stoffmenge her keinen Spielraum für irgendwas habe, habe ich den Schnitt wirklich minutiös angepasst mit zwei Probeteilen aus Bettbezug und inklusive unterschiedlicher Ärmellängen für meine unterschiedlich langen Arme. (Das ist nicht viel und ich gleiche es sonst über die Nahtzugabe aus, aber hier zählt jeder halbe Zentimeter und die Ärmel bekommen Reißverschluß Schlitze, müssen also unten wirklich exakt abschließen.)

My solution was the underlining. (That is necessary anyhow, to make the vest keep any shape.) First step was drawing/altering the pattern. I want biker style, I trend I like and having the elegant fabric with that pattern is that kind of “dissonance” I like. Since I am quite short of fabric I have no room for any mistake or alteration later so I made two muslins to get it right and even made both sleeves of different lenghts according to my arms. (The difference is small, but here every 5mm count and also I will make zippers in the sleeve vents, so it really has to fit exactely.)

Als Unterlegstoff habe ich eine billige rosa Baumwolle gekauft. Etwas steif, nicht zu fein gewoben, damit die Jacke am Ende (hoffentlich) die richtige Mischung aus “Stand” und “lässig” bekommt. Den Unterlegstoff habe ich gewaschen und gebügelt und genau in den Stoffbruch gelegt. (Die Ränder sind durch die Webekanten etwas wellig, daher habe ich da Abstand gehalten und eben auch nicht die Kanten des Stoffes aufeinander gelegt, sondern darauf geachtet, den Bruch wirklich genau im Fadenlauf zu legen.) Zugeschnitten habe ich mit 1,5cm Nahtzugabe und so exakt wie möglich.

My underlining is a cheap pink cotton. A bit stiff, not fo finely woven and I hope it will give enough shape to achive a good mixture of “enough shape” and “still casual”. I’ve washed and ironed it, of course, and then folding it in half. The selvage is wider than the fabric and gives “ruffles” So I avoid it in cutting and make sure the fabric fold is exactly on the straight grain.) I’ve cut a 1.5 cm seam allowance and tried to precise as possible.

Beschriftung auf StoffDanach habe ich alle Teile auf der linken Stoffseite dünn mit dem Clover Marker beschriftet. Rechtes Teil, linkes Teil… auch alle anderen nötigen Markierungen habe ich auf den Stoff übertragen.

Then I labeled the wrong side of the fabric of each pattern piece, very finely with the Clover fine marker. Right side, left side… and I traced all other necessary marks to the fabric.

Stoff mit Häkelnadel reparierenBevor es weiter ging, mußte ich allerdings den Stoff noch ein wenig reparieren. Vorteil der losen Webung ist, daß das mit der Häkelnadel geht. (Material von der Grabbelkiste halt…)

Before I could continue I had to reweave a ribbon. Advantage of the loose weave is, that a crochet hook can do the task. (Well, it was from the bargain/junk table…)

Schnitteile aufgelegtAnschließend ging das puzzeln los… die Schnitteile aus meinem Unterlegstoff habe ich rechts auf links auf meinen Oberstoff gelegt und rumgeschoben, bis zumindest der unabdingbare Teil untergebracht war. (Eigentlich hätte ich gerne beide mittlere Vorderteile aus dem Stoff zugeschnitten, aber ich habe Kontraststoff für die Belege, notfalls geht auch das.) Da die Teile so die Endgröße haben, kann ich auf Stoß legen. Und ich schneide natürlich in einfacher Stofflage zu, auch das geht einfacher, wenn man jedes einzelne Teil hat.

Then it was jigsaw time… I put all pink pieces with their right side of fabric on the wrong side of my fashon fabric and moved them, until I could at least place all necessary parts. (I would have liked to do both middle fronts from that fabric, but I have a contrasting fabric for the facings and was prepared to use that.) Since I do not have to add seam allowances I can really put the pieces side by side. And I am cutting in single layer, which is easier if you have every single pattern piece.

Anschließend habe ich jedes Teil einzeln festgesteckt, genau auf den Fadenlauf geachtet und dann auf der Nahtzugabe (etwa 7mm von der Stoffkante entfernt) festgeheftet. Dann das nächste Teil stecken und festheften und so weiter….

Then I took one underlining piece, pinned it, double checket the grain, and then handbasted it to the fashin fabric. About 0.7 cm from the border of the fabric, in the midth of the seam allowance. Then I took the next piece, pinned, basted… and so on…

Schnitteile festgeheftet.Und viele, viele, viele Stunden später hatte ich jedes einzelne Teil festgeheftet. Zeitlich habe ich mich selten so verschätzt… ich hatte schon damit gerechnet, daß das zwei, vielleicht drei Stunden dauert. Aber letztlich waren es eher sechs Stunden. Da sich der Stoff extrem gegen sich selber verschiebt, habe ich darauf geachtet, daß er unter jedem Schnitteil glatt liegt, die Teile des Stoffes dazwischen sind teilweise ziemlich wellig. Aber das… ist egal.

And then, many, many hours later, I had each and every pices basted to my fashion fabric. I am not good in guessing time, but here I was wrong as rarely. I had thought it would take me about two hours, maybe three, to do that. In the end it was more six hours. The ribbons in the fabric have no stabiity whatsover, you can push it wherever you want. So I made sure that the fabric under my underlining fabric lays flat. All the ruffles between the pattern pieces… I did not care for.

(Die gute Nachricht? Ich bekam doch auch das zweite mittlere Vorderteil noch drauf. Danach war ich allerdings so genervt, daß ich den Stoff weggefaltet habe und den Zuschnitt erst zwei Tage später gemacht habe.)

(Tha good news? In the end I managed to cut both middle fronts from the fabric. But after all that basting work on the floor I was so bugged that I folded away the fabric and cut it only two days later.)

Das Projekt hat jetzt erst mal Pause, denn ich brauche Reißverschlüsse auf Maß. Und da hat erst die Herstellerfirma Betriebsurlaub, dann hat mein Kurzwarengeschäft Betriebsurlaub, so daß die frühestens Mitte August eintreffen. Aber ich habe ja noch reichlich anderen Stoff zum Verarbeiten…

Now the project is on hold again, because I need the zippers made to my specifications. And now the producer is on holiday, after that the shop where I ordered it is on holiday… so they will not reach me before mid August. But I have sufficiently other fabrics to work with…

Pattern Crafting: a vest in biker style

Auch ohne Motorrad gefallen mir Biker Jacken wegen ihrer klaren Schnittform gut. Man kann sie zwar im Moment auch überall kaufen, aber natürlich passt das dann nicht so gut. Also selber machen. Und da es mühsamer ist, einen Schnitt anzupassen, als einen passenden Schnitt umzubasteln, war mal wieder Bastelzeit. 🙂

I don’t have a motor bike, but vests in biker style I like for the clear and pure shape. You can buy them easily at the moment, but RTW never really fits me. So time for DIY. And since it is more tedious to fit a new pattern than changing a already fitted pattern it was time for pattern crafting.

Vorderteil abtrennenAusgangspunkt war eine kurze relativ gerade Jacke mit einem Brustabnäher vorne. Butterick 5927 wie hier schon mal verwendet. Ich brauche jetzt ein zweiteiliges Vorderteil, das in der Mitte überlappt und eine schräge Teilungsnaht hat. Wegen der Schräge muß man vorher wissen, wie lange die Jacke werden soll und wie breit die Überlappung ist. Die Bilder zeigen meine zweite Variante, mit angepaßter Länge nach dem ersten Probeteil… Ich habe meinen Vorderteilschnitt auf der Unterlage festgesteckt und dann ein Stück Folie darüber gesteckt. Ich ziehe eine schräge Linie vom Saum, etwa 5 cm links der Mitte zur Schulter, etwa zwei Fingerbreit neben demHalsausschnitt. Den Rest von Halsausschnitt und vordere Mitte pause ich von dem Ursprungsschnitt ab.

My starting point is a relatively straight and short Jacket with a vreast dart. Butterick 5927 as already used here. Now I need a two piece front which overlaps in the middle and has a diagonal seam. Because of the straight diagnoal line you need to know beforehand how long the vest is supposed to be. So the pics show the second version after the first muslin… I pinned my front pattern to my working space (on a folded bed sheet). Then I pinned a new plastic sheet over it. Now I am drawing a diagonal line from the hem to the shouider. I started about 5 cm left from the middle on the bottom and arrived about two fingers wide next to the neckline. For the rest, the neckline and the front middle I copy the lines of the original pattern.

Vorderteil doppeln
Das mittlere Vorderteil muß gedoppelt werden, also falte ich meine Folie entlang der vorderen Mittellinie und kopiere das im vorherigen Schritt entstandene Vorderteil. Jetzt noch beschriften….

The middle front needs to be mirrored. So I am folding the plastic sheet along the front middle and I am tracing the line I made in the last step. Not forgetting to lable the pattern….

Seitliches Vorderteil
Für das seitliche Vorderteil kommt eine dritte Schicht Folie drüber und ich kopiere von meiner schrägen Teilungnaht zur Seite hin. Auch hier nicht vergessen, Paßzeichen mit zu übertragen und das Teil gut zu beschriften.

For the side front piece I add a third clear plastic sheet over the other two and I trace from the newly drawn diagonal seam to the side. Not forgetting to trace marks and notches and labeling everything.

Vordere Schnitteile
So sehen dann die beiden neuen Vorderteile aus. Da der Butterickschnitt schon Nahtzugaben hat, meine neu gezeichneten Nahtlinien aber nicht, muß ich da natürlich noch die Nahtzgabe ergänzen.

That are my new front patterns. The Butterick Pattern has seam allowances included, my newly made seam seam hasn’t. So I need to add seam allowances there.

Abnäher entfernen
Jetzt soll noch der Abnäher raus. Ich schneide entlang einer Abnäherline gerade bis zur Teilungsnaht durch.

Now I want to remove the bust dart. Cutting one of the dart seam lines straight to my new seam.

Abnäher wegfalten
Und jetzt den zweiten Abnäherschenkel auf den durchgeschnittenen falten. Da ich nicht bis zur Abnäherspitze, sondern weiter bis zur Teilungsnaht geschnitten habe können die Linien nicht genau zur Deckung gebracht werden. Wichtig ist, daß sie genau auf der seitlichen Nahtlinine genau aufeinander liegen. Denn sonst stimmt die Länge der Seitennaht nicht mehr. (Je nach Figur bzw. Abnähertiefe ist es möglich, daß das Vorderteil dann nicht mehr passt. Bei mir haut es hin, das hatte ich am ersten Probeteil schon getestet…) Danach muß man die Nahtzugabe noch einschneiden und ergänzen, damit sie sich der Rundung anpasst.

Now I am folding the second dart seam over the one I’ve cut open. Since I did not cut further than the dart I can’t align the two lines. So it is important to match them exactely on the side seam. If not the side seams of front and back will not match. (Depending on your individual figure and the depth of the dart it might be, that the front does not fit any longer after that operation. For me it works, my first muslin had proven that…) And the last step is to snip in the seam allowance and taping a bit of plastic sheet unterneath (or just two pieces of adhesive tape, one from each side) to adapt the seam allowance to the now curved shape.

Und schon habe ich meine Biker Jacke. (Nach dem nächsten Probeteil habe ich das Vorderteil in der Ausschnittline noch mal etwas geändert. Die Änderung ging dann aber ohne weiteren Test.)

And the pattern for a biker style vest is finished. (After the second muslin I decided to change the neckline of the front middle a bit. But that was a minor adjustment and did not need another test.)

Time to say goodbye…

Stoffe Ne, nicht für mich. Für die Stoffe.

No, not me. The fabrics.

Meine Kirchengemeinde will nach den Ferien ein Nähprojekt mit Flüchtlingen anfangen und sucht dafür gerade Material. Mit einer Nähmaschine kann ich nicht aushelfen, denn da habe ich nur die eine, mit der ich selber nähe, aber Stoffe… ja, Stoffe habe ich genug. Keine häßlichen Stoffe, ich mag sie alle. Aber Stoffe, die das Leben überholt hat. Und die jetzt schon so lange bei mir in der Truhe liegen und nicht verarbeitet wurden, daß sie einem besseren Zweck zugeführt werden können. Oder Stoffreste, die sicher noch ein Kleidungsstück geben. Nur nicht unbedingt in meiner Größe. :o)

My parish wants to start a sewing project with refugees after the summer holidays and they are looking for material. I can’t help them with a working sewing machine, because I only have one and that’s the one I am sewing with myself. But fabric… fabric I have plenty. No ugly ones, I love them all. But fabric that was just… overtaken by life. Which rests in my chest for so long now and has never been made into something, so it can go on to a place where something will be made of it. Or remnants, still big enough for a garment. Just not in my size. :o)

Stoff in TütenDas ganze paßt auch noch in drei Tüten (für das große Stück Mantelstoff habe ich inzwischen auch noch eine gefunden) und wartet drauf, daß ich es der Pfarrerin bringe. Die wohnt nur ein paar Straßen weiter. (Ein bißchen Kleinkram wie Stecknadeln, Handmaß, Maßbänder, Maschinen- und Handnähnadeln habe ich auch noch gefunden…)

It all fits in three plastic bags (meanwhile I’ve found a bag for the huge piece of coat wool alos) and waits for me, to bring it to the minister (or vicar? whatever…) who lifes just a few streets from here. (And I added also some stuff like pins, measuring tapes, machine and hand needles…)

Die wahre Gewinnerin der Aktion bin eh ich. Denn meine Truhe geht jetzt ganz ohne Zwang und Druck wieder zu und hat sogar noch etwas Luft. Für die nächsten Stoffe… *hüstel*

The real winner is me anyhow. Because my chest now closes again easily and there is even some room left. For the next fabrics…

Elan 511, iteration 4

Dieser BH-Schnitt scheint auch ein ewiges Projekt zu werden. Version vier bringt mich der Wunschform auch nicht viel näher.

This bra patters seems to become an eternal project. Version four is not the final one either.

BHDiesmal habe ich das Rückenteil mit Power Net verstärkt, was eine gute Idee war, jedoch hat das natürlich Auswirkungen auf den Rest… das Mittelteil muß noch wenigstens einen Zentimeter schmaler werden und die Unterkörbchen brauchen wenigstens 2cm mehr Tiefe.

This time I used power net for the back. That was a good idea, but it has consequenzes… for the next one the bridge has to be at least 1cm shorter and the lower cups need 2 cm more depth.

Taking the bull by the horns

Die Geschichte begann letzten Herbst mit einer Serie von Löchern. Zuerst war ein Loch in der Straße, da bin ich reingetreten und danach hatte ich ein Loch in der Hose und eines im Knie. Nicht das erste Mal im Leben, aber das Loch in der Hose hat mich geärgert. Zwar war sie nur von C&A und nicht wirklich teuer, aber neu. Noch nie gewaschen. Und sie gefiel mir von der Farbe her und so. Und das Loch war mitten auf dem Knie, vorne wirklich sehr, sehr gut sichbar.

gestopfte Hose The story started last autumn with a series of holes. First there was a hole in the street, I stepped into it and then there were more holes, in my pants and in my knee. Not the first time in my life, but this time I was really annoyed about the hole in the trousers. They were nothing special, just from C&A and not expensive either, but new. Not even washed once. And I had liked the color. The hole was in the front, directly on the knee and really very, very well visible.

Also machen wir halt ein Designerstück aus der Hose… zuerst aber mal (mit Stickrahmen und versenktem Transporteur) das Loch gestopft.

Okay… then we make a designer piece. First darning the hole. (Feed dogs lowered and using a hoop.

Spitzenborte auf HoseUnd da das aktuelle Trendbarometer gerade auf Spitze steht, habe ich mir eine Spitzenborte besorgt, etwas dunkler als die Hose. (Genau der gleiche Farbton wäre perfekt gewesen… aber es paßt halt nicht immer.) Da ich auch nicht groß was auftrennen wollte, habe ich sie in eine Kurve gelegt, die über das Loch geht und oben im Tascheneingriff endet. So mußte ich nur in der Tasche ein bißchen von Hand am Taschenbeutel nähen. Am Saum habe ich ziemlich weit nach innen umgeschlagen, damit die Borte auch am Umschlag gut aussieht.

The trend forcasts say “lace”, so I got some lace, a bit darker than the pants. (Same color would have been perfect… but well, you take what you get.) I did not want to open any seams, so I positioned the lace in a way it goes over the hole and then ends in the pocket. That way I only had to attach the lace by hand inside the pocket. The hem is turned up a bit, so I folded the lace about 8 cm to the inside, so it looks good on the cuffs also.

Rückseite der Hose mit SpitzeDamit es dann auf dem anderen Bein nicht so nackt aussieht, habe ich da auch Spitze aufgenäht, aber hinten. Wieder siegte die Faulheit, die Spitze läuft so in den Tascheneingriff des Vorderteils, daß sie da sichtbar vorspitzt. Und oben waren ein paar Handstiche fällt.

I decided then I wanted more lace, so I’ve sewn another curve on the other leg, but on the back. Again lazy, so the curve goes into the pocket on the front, in a way the lece remains visible beneath the pocket opening. Some handstitchs again on the top.

Jetzt geht sie modisch gepimpt und als absolutes Einzelstück in die Saison. 🙂

Now absolutely up to date and a real designer piece for this season. 🙂

And again blue en minature

Ankleidepuppe im blauen Ensemble

Natürlich gab es aus den Resten des Rockes auch noch was für die Ankleidepuppe. Aus dem Rockstoff eine Blousonjacke, aus der Seide von den Versäuberungsstreifen wurde der Ballonrock und dessen Futter ist aus dem Futterstoff. Da das gelbe Stickgarn noch griffbereit lag, habe ich noch ein paar Zierstiche an Jacke und Rock dazugefügt.

The leftovers from the skirt also made a doll outfit. The skirt fabric became a blouson, the silk from the bias binding a skirt and the lining… lining again. Since the yellow embroidery thread was still at hand I added some stitches to jacket and skirt.

Die Anleitung ist wieder aus dem alten Burda Barbieheft und auch hier zeigt sich die Tendenz, daß zumindest die Jacke an den Schultern recht groß ist, (Wobei der Blouson im Heft am Ende auch mit einem Gürtel gerafft wird…) An der Taille hingegen ist die Jacke eher eng. Künftig etwas weniger Nahtzugabe anschneiden oder in eine “echte” Barbie investieren um zu sehen, ob es an der Billigpuppe liegt? (Es gibt ja eine für knapp 7 EUR, die aber wiederum wohl nur im Versand mit entsprechender Versandgebühr. Was dann nur für die Anprobe auch wieder etwas viel ist.)

The pattern is again from my old Burda Barbie issue and again the finised item is a little large on the shoulders. (Okay, the jacket on the original photo is also held together with a belt.) On the other hand at the waist it fits more snug. Shall I try to cut smaller seam allowances or will I have to invest in an original Barbie doll to see if the problem is the cheap fake doll? (There seems to be a “real” one for a little less than 7 EUR, but it also looks as if this one was sold exclusively by the internet, so there would be shipping costs. So all in all it would be a bit exagerated just for trying on.)

For a Paris Fan…

paristuch1502Das Handtuchpanel mit dem Eifelturm hatte ich mal in Paris mitgenommen, so nach dem Motto “wo am nötigsten”. und jetzt passt es, denn jemand bezieht sein erstes Appartment.

The panel with the Eifel tower I’ve found some time ago in Paris and took it without knowing what I would need it for. But Eifel tower is always good. And now someone is moving into his first appartment.

Die Nähaufgabe war einfach, alle vier Kanten doppelt einschlagen, nicht vergessen, etwas Haushaltsband als Aufhänger einzuklemmen, einmal rum nähen… fertig. 🙂 Ich kann auch mal schnell.

Sweing was easy, folding all borders twice, not forgetting to fold in some ribbon for a hanger, sewing around… done. 🙂 Sometimes I can do fast projects.

Builds Character

Flicken auf Mantel

“Builds character” sagt ein Freund von mir gerne angesichts diverser Unbilden, mit denen das Leben so aufzuwarten hat. Darunter fällt dieses Brandloch im Mantel sicher auch.

“Builds character” is the standard answer of a friend of mine when one of those oddities of life happen. And this burned hole in my coat can be counted under that.

Aber wenn es ein Kleidungsstück mit Charakter gibt, dann ist das doch wohl der Trenchcoat, richtig? Also darf man seine Geschichte auch sehen und ich habe schlichtweg von Hand ein kleines Stück Stoff aufstaffiert (Flachbügeln läßt sich der Stoff nämlich auch nicht, daher habe ich das gar nicht erst probiert.) Loch zu.

But if there is a garment that is allowed to have a character of its own, then it’s the trenchcoat, right? So… you can see its history. And I simply hand applied a small rectangle over the hole. (Since the fabric does not like to be ironed flat I did not even try.) Fixed.

Und wer weiß… vielleicht ist es ja doch ein spezielles Designelement… 😉

And who knows… maybe it is a special designer touch after all… 😉
